My wife and I chose this hotel to celebrate our wedding and her birthday. We upgraded our room and also reserved romantic treatments at the spa, and overall, many aspects of our stay were very nice. Unfortunately, our experience at the main pool completely changed our impression of the hotel. In the morning, after going to breakfast, we returned to the pool expecting to find a sunbed. Instead, we encountered what I can only describe as a “competition” for sunbeds. Guests were apparently expected to compete for a place by the pool, and when I asked about getting a sunbed, I was actually told that I should wait in the bar area. Seriously? I have stayed at many hotels, and I have never experienced anything like this. For a hotel that presents itself as a high-quality holiday destination, I found the situation extremely disappointing and, frankly, humiliating. When I spoke with the responsible lady, I was simply told, “These are the rules.” If these rules are so important, perhaps guests should be informed about them clearly upon arrival — preferably in RED, so nobody can miss them. What makes this even more disappointing is that until this morning, I was already considering coming back to this hotel in the future. After this experience, however, I can say with certainty that I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend the hotel to others. It is a real shame that an otherwise enjoyable stay was spoiled by something that should be such a simple and basic part of a hotel experience.
Best hotel ever in creta …… Good location
Fantastic 10-Day Stay at Akasha Beach Hotel & Spa
My partner and I returned from a fantastic 10-day holiday at Akasha Beach Hotel & Spa in Hersonissos, Crete, in June this year and overall we had a wonderful experience.
The hotel itself is stunning, with modern, stylish rooms and beautiful facilities throughout. We would definitely recommend paying extra for a sea view room as the views are incredible and really add to the experience.
Before arriving, we had read a few reviews suggesting that the service could be inconsistent, so we were a little concerned. However, from the moment we arrived, we found every member of staff to be friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming.
A special mention has to go to Eva in the breakfast restaurant. Every morning she greeted us with a smile, remembered our usual order and always went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Small touches like this really made our stay feel personal.
We would also like to thank Popi and Despina at the rooftop bar. Their friendly personalities and constant smiles were a huge reason why we chose to spend so much time there each day. They created such a lovely atmosphere and always made us feel welcome. The rooftop area became one of our favourite spots in the hotel thanks to them.
The buffet offered a great variety of food, with different cuisines available throughout our stay.
The entertainment was enjoyable and provided a nice addition to the evenings.
There were a couple of minor negatives. The biggest issue was the sunbed situation around the pool. With limited sunbeds available, queues would start forming from around 8:30am, which wasn’t ideal and could be frustrating at times. The gym was also quite small and felt a little cramped, especially during busier periods.
We also visited the beach area several times. While it’s convenient that hotel service extends there as well, we personally found the beach quite crowded and the sunbeds positioned very close together, so we preferred spending our time around the hotel’s pools and rooftop area.
We chose not to go all-inclusive and, for us, this was definitely the right decision. The hotel is perfectly located in Hersonissos, with plenty of excellent bars, restaurants, and cafés within easy walking distance, so we never felt that all-inclusive was necessary.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would happily recommend Akasha Beach Hotel & Spa to anyone visiting Crete. The beautiful hotel, excellent location, and outstanding staff made for a memorable stay. Thank you to Eva, Popi, Despina, and the rest of the team for making our holiday so enjoyable
We absolutely loved the hotel and its beautiful environment. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the service was excellent throughout our stay.
A very special thank you to Michael and Jeffrey for their amazing hospitality and outstanding service! They were both incredibly kind, attentive, friendly, and always made sure we had everything we needed!
Really lovely hotel surpassed expectations. Every area of hotel kept well, clean and luxurious. Staff are excellent and while very busy take time to be friendly and accommodating. Facilities fabulous and choice of areas to relax in wonderful. Good welcome, food waiting in room after late arrival and great care to explain everything on arrival. Room clean and well serviced by the housekeeping team. Food options breakfast and dinner great variety and choice, regularly changing menu. Delicious range of desserts and breakfast options. Special shout out to Nada who was so attentive and friendly, very helpful and hospitable in dining area each day. Main pool area busy in morning with sun-bed rush however there are plenty of relaxing areas within and part of the hotel. Beach area is really nice plenty of sun-beds and lovely service from Konstanious and Anna. View is amazing. Snack menu delivered delicious generous portions for lunch at beach area. Indoor swimming pool, gym, as well as a range of outdoor pools, rooftop and beach front. Stayed for 11 nights with our daughter, who celebrated her 16th birthday while away. Hotel without any prompting organised a special birthday dessert and card for her. Lovely touch! Guests range from couples of all ages, families with babies and older children to groups of adults. Hotel very central and good access to back beach path walk and the Main Strip.
