Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel has an excellent location right on the beach, with plenty of sun loungers available. The entrance to the sea is gradual and very pleasant. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and a friendly, welcoming environment. The room was very well equipped and spacious enough. We found the value for money to be very good, especially considering the quality of the accommodation, services and hotel facilities. Cleanliness was excellent. The room was always carefully cleaned and well maintained, and we really appreciated the daily replenishment of bottled water. The entire hotel was peaceful and relaxing, and we were not disturbed by any unpleasant noise during our stay. For shopping, bars and restaurants, Ierapetra is approximately 5 km away. The service was excellent. The staff were always very kind, friendly, helpful, accommodating and cheerful. We also greatly appreciated the parking within the hotel’s secure grounds, the wide selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the excellent overall hotel facilities.
Overall we had a wonderful time. The service was excellent, the staff genuinely friendly, the beach and sea beautiful, and the food great throughout.
That said, compared to last year there were a few disappointments worth mentioning:
• Olive oil quality in main restaurant - This was the biggest drawback. The oil had the consistency of water and simply wasn’t up to standard for Greece — a real pity given the quality salads it’s served with.
• Fruit presentation. The fruit (melons, oranges) wasn’t peeled or prepared, which is standard at most 5-star hotels.
• Paddle boards. Last year these were available to guests; this year it is paid service only.
None of this overshadowed a genuinely enjoyable holiday, but these are small details that would make a real difference.
We’d be glad to hear the hotel’s response.
Great hotel! We stayed for a few nights and had a Deluxe Swim Up room which was perfect. The hotel was very clean, food selection/quality was good and the staff were very helpful and polite. I don’t remember his name but the manager who ran the buffet/Gala dinner was great at helping my wife with Coeliac dietary requirements and brought out gluten free bread/croissants on multiple occasions. Special thanks to guest services Kalliopi also, who booked us in for a last minute A-La-Carte at the Maestro restaurant which was fantastic on our short stay. Would definitely recommend this resort, I wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return in future!
I would rate all the hotel content, design, gardens, activities & services as a 5 stars. All the team workers were amazing also. I will definitely be back to Ostria.
We have been coming there for a few years in row. We got mail from Ostria that would get the same room as last year which was perfect. But when we arrived we got another. Ostria should not mail that we would get the same room if they don’t stick to it.
The minibar usually got refilled every day the other years we visited the resort. But this year they didn’t. It was empty… That doesn’t fit a 5 star hotel.
Otherwise it is a great resort.
