The hotel is located on Crete's northern coastline on the beach road, overlooking the sandy beach and the city of Rethymno. The hotel is only 6 minutes' walk (or 700 m) from the picturesque Rethymno Old Town and there is a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars in the local area. The hotel is 79 km from the city of Heraklion. This beach hotel was renovated in 2008 and has a total of 200 rooms. Guests are welcomed into a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service. The hotel is air-conditioned and offers a wealth of facilities, including a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, lift access and TV lounge. For younger guests, there is a children's playground. The hotel has its own café, bar and restaurants. There are conference facilities for business guests as well as WLAN Internet access. For an additional fee, guests may use the room and laundry services. Guests arriving by car may park in the hotel's car park. Bicycles may be hired from the hotel. All standard rooms are fitted with double beds and have a pillow menu. Amenities include a direct dial telephone, safe, satellite TV with music channels, mini hifi system with radio and CD player and free WLAN Internet access. There is a minibar (for an extra charge) and tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have air conditioning and heating. Each room has an en suite bathroom with a bath/shower and WC, as well as toiletries, bathroom amenities, bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer. There is a balcony or terrace for each room.

Brilliant hotel from start to finish
My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in room 325. Our stay was brilliant start to finish, the room was big enough for 2 people, clean and nice shower. Sadly, our balcony was a in-building view so nothing to look at apart from the local apartments, and we were woken up at 5am everyday due to the bins being emptied or delivers. Luckily this didn't dampen the holiday too much but worth noting. The road is also very busy at all hours, traffic, motorbikes and tipsy folks, again, not enough to ruin it, although the motorbikes can be annoying.
The food at this hotel was the best 'buffet' style we've had. Fresh, tasty, different food every evening and lovely hot breakfast with fresh coffee. I am gluten-free (coeliac) and didn't go without, I was spoilt by the chef who sorted my dinner out every evening. Either showing me around the buffet which was clearly labelled with all allergens, or he'd ask what I fancied that night, burger, spaghetti bolognese, pizza etc., along with puddings too. The head chef also prepared fresh pancakes every morning which were amazing! The best staff.
The area was great too, lots of shops, restaurants and bars on your doorstep, and the hotel 'owns' a section of the beach so you can grab a free sunbed here which we preferred over the pool. The front row of sunbeds are 15 euros for the day however. We did sunbathe at the rooftop pool twice, the pool is cold but probably the same temp as the sea. They do bar service pool-side and on the beach. We just popped to the local shop, bought drinks and snacks to save a little bit of money.
The old town is about 15min walk which is lovely, again lots more shops, restaurants and bars. We hired a car for 3 days to visit Chania, Heraklion and Lake Kournas (we hired a peddle boat to see the turtles). All worth seeing. We ran out of time to visit the Palace of Knossos.
We really loved Crete and would recommend to our friends and family to stay at this hotel.

Deep tissue massage
I had an amazing experience with Sandy and Kostas at Aquila Porto Rethymno spa. The deep tissue massage was absolutely brilliant and exactly what I needed. Sandy and Kostas was professional, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable throughout the session. They focused on all the areas of tension, and I felt so much better afterwards. I highly recommend Sandy and Kostas to anyone looking for an excellent deep tissue massage. Thank you for such a fantastic treatment!

Fantastic beach hotel
We’ve just spent a lovely week at this hotel. It’s in a great location, with the beach right in front of the hotel with lots of sunbeds. The busy road is a little annoying, but there are zebra crossings to get across to the beach. The beach is really nice, with clear water and golden sand.
We were all inclusive, and enjoyed the food and drink on offer. The cafe bar was lovely for a drink after the beach or in the evening. The staff there were all lovely, but there was a lack of them meaning often slow service.
We ate out in the evenings at some really nice restaurants in Rethymnon, and enjoyed strolling around the streets of the old town and the harbour. It was only 10 minutes from the hotel, so an easy walk.
Our room was lovely - comfy beds and a good shower, and everything was really clean.
The restaurant at the hotel was lovely for breakfast and lunch, with a good choice and friendly staff.
We didn’t use the pools, but they both looked nice. The area around them isn’t large, so I’d recommend this hotel if you like going to the beach.
Overall, a lovely holiday in a lovely location!

Can not fault this hotel.
Cannot fault this hotel. The service especially concierge and restaurant excellent. Great central location and nice beach. Travelling with coeliac disease is a pain but the chef was amazing. Brought me my own fresh bread. Delicious ! And a gluten free brownie and ice cream for pudding. Lovely and clean. Absolutely no complaints.
