This charming beach hotel is situated at the end of an 11-kilometre long beach, which stretches to the historical town of Rethymnon. The area is rich in attractions and places of interest like the St.Nikolas Church, or the famous mountain caves nearby. Whether they have spent the day lazing at the beach or exploring the region, guests are sure to find peace and relaxation in the cool air-conditioned rooms, complete with large balconies with sea or garden views. The hotel is especially popular among those travelling with children as the outdoor area has a kids' swimming pool, a kids' club and a games room. In addition to delicious meals, the restaurant offers also Greek evenings, disco nights and various entertainment programmes.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Very quiet, away from hustle and bustle ( we wanted this) Families welcomed although only small and no entertainment for young children except the pool. Plenty of sun loungers. Can become quite windy at times. Low level music playing, the staff are very attentive and friendly. Lots of choice on food if you’re willing to try traditional Greek food. I am a pescatarian and there was always fish on offer, vegetarians might struggle a little more. We never went hungry, always meat and always chips and always salad. Breakfast lots on offer and the bread was good. We have no complaints. You’re in an all inclusive obviously the food will be on rotation but we honestly have no complaints. Very clean, staff always around to help you find a seat if busy at tea times, after a couple of days they recognise you and will look after you. You can buy a bus ticket at the shop ( in the hotel) for €2.60 rtn to Rethymno, the buses run every 30 minutes at 15 minutes past the hour and 15 minutes to the hour. Lovey place to visit. The room we stayed in was very basic, had a fridge and kettle with tea & coffee, you can buy milk in the shop on site. One wardrobe with lots of hangers but for three adults in a room not much other storage. We didn’t mind, you’re outside most of the time and just in your (aircon) room for shower and sleeping. Handy fly doors so you can have fresh air without letting bugs in. We would throughly recommend this friendly hotel. Very laid back, welcoming. We arrived late at night and we were taken straight to the restaurant for food. The Greek night club s great fun too, they get everyone involved.
We have visited Begeti Bay hotel 3 times over the last 12 months, but that last visit was very special for us. We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary and decided to go to the place where we felt like home, surrounded by a bunch of the most friendly, helpful and kind staff. I would not have it any other way, everything was just perfect for us. We stayed in room K19 and had a gorgeous sea view from our balcony. Room was very spacious and clean, but that balcony have stolen my heart. So many beautiful memories– we have enjoyed the wine there while watching sunset, danced there during Greek Night and had endless chats filled with laughter.
For the whole duration of that stay we were looked after by all the staff but I would like to mention couple of people that made it extra special.
Martina at the bar is the most lovely, attentive and kind person I have ever met while on holiday. She went above and beyond to make our stay the most special. From recommending drinks, places to see and food to eat to providing first aid when I badly cut my finger. She was always there for us, always smiling and being happy to see us. Nothing was too much trouble. While sipping "Martina's special" I mentioned that it is our 3rd time in the hotel and that in couple of days we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary. She gave us a big smile and congratulated us. On the actual day of our Anniversary we were surprised with a lovely dinner and a bottle of champagne, just for the two of us. She has organized this secretly together with her manager Lia. We were blown away! It was magical. I just cant thank them enough, honestly.
We would also like to mention Ana & Stella at reception, Melina, Daniela and Irini at the restaurant and Nektario who works during the night. All of you contributed to our lovely stay and we are forever grateful.
Thank you for having us and hopefully see you again in a very near future.
Love,
Mr & Mrs Bystron
We had a lovely stay at Begeti Bay Hotel and would definitely come back again. There were many things we really enjoyed:
-The food was great, with plenty of choice.
-The staff were very friendly, helpful with any request, and always had a smile on their faces.
-It was great that the hotel has its own shop, which was very convenient.
-The view is absolutely stunning. We really liked the size of the hotel. It has a lovely, small, family-hotel feel rather than being a huge resort.
-The all-inclusive drinks were great, with a good selection available.
A few things to be aware of:
Both my friend and I had a negative experience at different times with a Polish woman who was part of staff who mostly worked behind the bar. On one occasion, I went to get some drinks while she was chatting to other Polish guests rather than serving. They took quite a long time, and I waited for around 4–5 minutes. When I politely asked if I could get some drinks she rolled her eyes, which made me feel as though I was bothering her. My friend had a similar experience with her and also felt that she was unpleasant and made him feel as though he was bothering her, despite serving drinks being part of her job. This was disappointing, especially as the rest of the staff were so friendly and welcoming.
-The beach is very rocky so I would definitely recommend bringing water shoes.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives, and we had a great holiday.
A special thank you to Nectarius, who was incredibly helpful and always went out of his way to assist us. We really appreciated it!
I have just spent a wonderful week at Begeti Bay Hotel in Crete and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a lovely location, very clean, and provides everything needed for a relaxing holiday.
What really made the experience special was the staff. A special thank you to Martyna and Atrim at the bar, whole reception team, and night staff who were always welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. Their professionalism and warm attitude made me feel at home from the moment I arrived.
The only downside is the hotel's almost non-existent presence on social media. More online activity would help future guests discover this fantastic place and see what it has to offer.
Overall, I had a fantastic holiday and would happily return. I highly recommend Begeti Bay Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Crete.
Thank you to the whole team for making my holiday so memorable!
Superb hotel, warm welcome, attentive staff, peaceful setting: I recommend it.
