This is our 4th stay at Domes hotels, prior we stayed at Noruz Chania twice and Elounda. We were very appreciative of an upgrade to a pool cabana room. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows and it was sparklingly clean every day with changes of linen and towels. We were very unlucky with the weather with only 2 days out of 7 being sunny!. The location is great with a lovely village housing shops and restaurants only a short walk away. First of all the good, the quality of accommodation, fixtures and fittings and standard of housekeeping throughout the resort. The service however was a story of 2 parts, in the main buffet restaurant although always packed the staff were helpful and cheerful. In Antonios and in the bar area however they were the opposite, the first time we ate in Antonios we chose a seafront table but were told by a surly waitress we couldn't sit there yet when a couple arrived after us they were "allowed" to sit there. There is not enough space in the main bar so if you fancied a drink after dinner it was pot luck. I am not a fan of buffet style dinner however the food was of a good standard with plenty of variety. There is no where in the Hotel where you can have a light lunch which is missing - you sometimes would fancy a snack but there isn't this offering. The other Domes Hotels have had sushi/wraps to cater to this. Drinks were frequently not in stock, if you have something on your wine list you should have a robust enough supply to provide what you have listed. Overall the holiday was good value for money, we booked off Voyages Prive and had paid a third less than another couple who booked off Denstinology! It was however poles apart from Noruz Chania in terms of personal service and luxury plus dinner at Chania is a la carte even on half board.
We booked this having loved Domes resorts we have stayed at previously but sadly it did not live up to expectations. We initially had a retreat room which we thought was an upgrade but the ‘view’ was non existent. Eventually on day 4/5 we got moved. The buffet was standard but the à la carte a real disappointment such that we cancelled our second booking. While the room was nice enough, the building looked tired. The pool is nice and the sea literally on your doorstep. Even off season it was a struggle to get a lounger unless you were up early! This had made me very cautious to believe the Domes name always equals exceptional and perhaps is more affiliated to mediocre..
We stayed for a week at the Domes Noruz hotel Kassandra in Hanioti and would like to give future travellers some insight into the negatives and positives of this hotel. The hotel itself is just as it was shown in the website, it is a lovely hotel that is kept very clean and the facilities were very good. The big problem with this hotel is the catering, the buffet food is probably the best selection and quality i have experienced on my journeys but the layout and service just dont match the standard of the food! I am in no way critizing the staff for trying but there just seemed to be a lack of training in the basics of serving customers, several times we ordered teas or coffees and waited but unfortunatly they never arrived and trying to find another waiter or waitress was almost impossible. The layout of the kitchen area just did not flow the milk was stored in the dairy section and no milk was present at the cereal table, the boiled eggs were present but you had to find a member of staff to get you an eggcup as there werent any layed out in the restaurant. If you chose to use the tea or coffee machine then you found that the breakfast teabags were never replenished same for plates and bowls, these seem trivial in themselves but add up when you have to scour the restaurant to find a member of staff to get you what you need,i am no way blaming the staff they work tirelessly but just need some instruction on looking for items that need replenishing. If these minor issues could be rectified then this Hotel would be one of my favourite places to visit even accounting for the rainy weather we experienced. I have emailed the hotel my views and would love to see them iron out the dining problems that we experienced in our weeks stay. I would definatly recommend this hotel and the little town of Hanioti is just a 5 min walk from hotel which has restaurants and bars if you fancy a change from the hotel.
Just back from this lovely hotel. I want to thank Gioula and Janis for excellent service in the breakfast facility. Two staff who really care and go the extra mile to help and make everything special. You both made the experience memorable. Thanks, guys. Carl and Chris xxxx
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Domes. Firstly, the service from all of the staff was outstanding! We were greeted as soon as we arrived, bags taken, and given a proper welcome to the hotel and all of the information that we required. We were delighted with a €100 credit to use on hotel facilities whilst staying. All staff throughout the week say hi, check in with you and listen to whatever you need. The hotel itself was stunning to me, nicely done, clean and had a 5* feel to it.
Our room was fab had plenty of space, good storage, great shower, a safe, hairdryer, iron, vanity kits, shampoos, soap, body wash, usb chargers, Bluetooth speakers, umbrella, fridge, coffee facilities, tv.. everything we could actually need in a room and I have no doubt if I needed anything else, it would have been provided. The housekeeper was great, she was there every day and replaced towels and water. She was very friendly and done a good job.
My hubby used the gym and said it was modern and had good equipment.
The pool area is also pleasing with plenty of comfy sun loungers. I would have preferred the pool to be slightly warmer but that’s a preference. You can order drinks around the pool with the QR codes on the umbrella’s. Drink prices are what you would expect of a a 5* hotel. The private beach and view is also a big plus. The town/village is literally 10 minutes walk so a perfect location if in Hanioti.
The food provided was very good with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. Be sure to check the outside dining area, as we enjoyed this more as more space and quieter than inside. On cooler evenings, heaters are provided which is a nice touch. Fresh Food is also at the back of this. The only gripe I had was sometimes it took a while for a waiter to get your drinks order as there does not appear to be enough staff doing this at dinner but I believe it because it’s towards the end of the season. It didn’t bother me as I am happy to go find someone or just chill waiting but I do think not all people would be patient.
We were really impressed with Domes and it’s wonderful staff and would definitely recommend and return.
