We were a little worried about our choice of hotel after some of the earlier reviews but we needn’t have been. We spent a very relaxing 7 days in the resort which is in a great location- only 15 minutes drive from the airport and a short 10 minute stroll into Kardamena.
Our junior suite was newly renovated and very spacious. Beds were comfortable and we had a lovely view of the sea. On arrival there was bottled water in the room although I would have liked this to have been topped up throughout our stay.
The resort has three pools and we spent most of our time at Seebreeze where the entertainment was. The entertainers themselves were brilliant- very friendly but not overly pushy to get you involved if you preferred to just relax. A special mention to the two ladies who worked hard at the Seebreeze bar all day with a smile.
At the bar there were snacks served each day, usually small pizza squares, sandwiches, salad and then a hot option such as burger or hotdog. We did feel that there could have been more of a selection for lunch at the bars but you have the option of heading to the main restaurant for lunch if you prefer more options.
We all found the food delicious and hot. Breakfast consisted of traditional English options such as omelettes, eggs, bacon etc. pancakes, plus continental options and Greek yoghurt with fruits etc. On an evening the lower ground restaurant served more basic options such as chips and chicken gyros, whilst the Panorama restaurant upstairs had themed evening each night such as Asian, Mediterranean etc. They also served freshly cooked pizzas which were delicious and Greek salads with beautiful feta and huge olives. We always found the food hot and the service was great. Didrka was an especially friendly and excellent member of staff working in the restaurant and is a huge asset to the hotel.
Entertainment wise, we enjoyed the majority of the evening entertainment. The karaoke and quiz night, live band and Greek night were highlights. The Latin night was the only one that we felt a bit underwhelmed at!
As others have mentioned the hotel is on a steel hill but we managed this fine although I can imagine it would be a bit more of a chore in the July/August heat. We did call for a buggy on a couple of occasions and they arrived within minutes and our children found it an experience in itself!
The resort of madman is a 10 minute walk away if that and is definitely worth a visit. Some beautiful shops, bars and restaurants. We had a lovely day and evening meal.
All in all a beautiful and relaxing holiday where the staff and other guests were very friendly and the views were breathtaking. Thank you to the staff for a great week and we hope to be back.
Currently staying at the hotel and what can I say, the location is great but be expected to walk up very steep hills to and from rooms but they do lay on vehicles upon request, the staff are exceptional especially the entertainment staff, they all work so hard even if there equipment isn’t all that, (buy a new dart board and darts at least) everything is kept clean and tidy, but 1 thing is don’t have high expectations for the food as it is really below average we are all inclusive but have eaten out most evenings for a five star hotel the food is very poor.
We had never been to Kos before and took a chance on this hotel based on the reviews. Our first impression was great, the hotel is set on a hillside with the majority of rooms on different levels on the hill in blocks of 6/8, there are rooms also in the main part of the hotel. It is fairly steep but we walked everywhere, there are buggies to take you around the site if needed, we had a buggy when we first arrived with our luggage and when we checked out. Briefly it comprises of the reception and main bar area, with plenty of comfy seats, a special shout out to Nico on the main bar, who looked after us well and did a sterling job being on his own most of the time. The restaurants are up at the main building. Food is ok, some nights better than others. Three pools, all suit different tastes, one quiet one, one with music and one chill one with covered beds, all have bars and served a small selection of food. Kristos on the Serenity Pool bar is another outstanding member of staff. Our room was very clean and spacious, comfy bed and pillows and a good shower, the maid came in daily. The view from our balcony and the hotel in general is stunning. The hotel has lovely well kept grounds and is beautifully clean, the staff are super friendly and helpful, we had a couple of issues and bought them up at reception and Martha on reception sorted them out for us no problem. All in all a lovely clean friendly hotel with excellent staff in lovely surroundings, a very short walk into Kardemana, we will return.
On arrival I had a few little issues with certain things but after speaking with the Reception staff they did their utmost to resolve them and I left the hotel super happy!!! There could be improvements to the food and the frequency of the buggy’s but apart from this it’s a beautiful hotel with gorgeous rooms, stunning views and amazing staff!!!
The village is a ten minute walk away and no the road is a little tricky but there is a path on the sea side, not much the hotel can do about this though as it’s just nature!! Mini market is at the bottom of the hill near the exit gate.
A big shout out to Maria (Manager), a lovely lady and an excellent Manager!!! All the Reception staff, every single one of them was helpful and polite. Dimitra in the restaurant, lovely lady who knows her stuff and was so nice (I don’t know who a couple of the previous reviews were talking to but my interaction with her was always positive). Nicos (Bar man in Panorama Bar) no words needed 🤣🤣🤣 great guy, good fun and top barman!! Aretti in sea beeeze bar and Frederick and George in à la carte bar, all hard working, helpful staff!! The cleaner Argie was also amazing and my friend Arian who drives the buggy and got me safely to my room every night!!! Thank you, you are a true gentleman. All of you are a credit to this hotel and went above and beyond to make the experience even better for me. Would I return? A big fat YES!!
The Grand Blue Beach is a clean hotel. The rooms are very good and comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The view from our balcony was spectacular. However we don't beleve the hotel merits the stars it has received (Jet2 4.5, Hotel 5). The food is very repetative and not the best I've had from previous lower rated hotels. The all-inclusive choice between meal times amounted to a few biscuits and pastries. Again at other hotels we have received a far more extensive range. The main problem with the hotel, which cannot be helped is its location. It is built on a hillside which, while quite a steady climb at first is extremely steep towards the top and not suitable for anyone with slight mobility issues.
