Laga Aegean Village is a hotel resort located on the golden sandy shores of the south coast of Kos Island in Greece.
It's layout and use of space is characteristic of the distinctive Aegean architecture, which is apparent in the hotel's design. Built on a slope, every corner offers magnificent views of the endless deep blue Aegean Sea.
Staying at Laga Aegean Village is a treat for even the most demanding guest, as holidays of quality with high standards are offered. It is the hotel's objective and priority to offer guests the very best in hospitality, accommodation and services, and it is no wonder that repeat guest levels continue to rise yearly.
The main building lounges, restaurants, bars and facilities are located at the bottom of the slope, while all 330 rooms are situated on the hillside, which are accessed by the 24-hour complimentary mini-bus service.
There is a smart-casual dress code for evening meals. All gentlemen are required to wear long trousers and women are asked to dress appropriately.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Don‘t waste your money. We booked for 6 nights but left after the second one.
There were so many things wrong:
Room - When we entered our room we were disappointed. It looked nothing like the pictures and it was dirty aswell. We found ants on the floor and also on our bed. The curtains were ripped on both sides. The beds were hard and uncomfortable to sleep on and also the sheets had some brown stains on the sheets. We didn’t feel comfortable at all in this room. The light outside of our room looked like it’s going to fall of soon.
Staff - We just got out of our Taxi, didn’t even arrive properly and the first thing we heard is a staff from the reception yelling: „ Check in or Check out?“ We answered check in and got told to leave our luggage outside which was very weird. At the reception we didn’t get all the information about the hotel. When we went to dinner, we thought we could choose our table. Wrong we got yelled at bye grumpy old man who told us to wait until his colleague will show us our table. After dinner we didn’t know that we have to pay for our drinks at the end of each dinner ( something that the reception didn’t tell us). Generally all the staff was annoyed when you wanted something to ask. On the second day when we left we asked the staff at the reception to call us a taxi. When I asked when the taxi would arrive they rudely said: „ We don’t know.“ After an hour I asked again when it would be here and again, the same answer.
Buffet - Nothing special, its always the same every evening and every morning. The small breads are fresh and delicious in the morning but in the evening the use the leftover bread from the morning.
Overall the view was the ONLY positive thing. It could have been a nice holiday if the rooms would get renovated and the staff should be a lot nicer. We definitely won’t be comming back.
We did half board
Felt this was a family run hotel but was all about getting more money from you
5€ for a sunbed in the resort beach
3€ for a bottle of water no complimentary drinks with dinnner or breakfast
5€ for the gym per day and for the indoor pool and jacuzzi
The dress code for men is strictly trousers and t shirt. I wore trousers and a sleeveless top and was rudely told by the restaurant manager Adonis (very rude man and not an Andonis!! lol ) that I couldn’t wear this although had been seated ordered my beer and sat down with my meal. Lead to a very embarrassing confrontation!
The pool was very clean and well kept sunbeds were easily obtainable but WiFi throughout the hotel was terrible especially in the pool and pool bar area, in turn affected the evening entertainment especially karaoke. Pool bar was slow to come to your table and even when going to the bar was very slow. For a half board hotel the additional costs mount up and it feels as if the staff are there to make as much money from you as they can.
We were made to feel like an inconvenience from the start and everything seemed a little bit too much trouble for the staff.
A shame because the hotel and pool is very nice. There is free transport to
The rooms but a steep hill and not for the feint hearted.
Would not recommend this hotel.
Read reviews carefully, if your a family pick a different hotel. Lovely holiday with pros and cons. We wouldn't return however did make the most of our time and had a lovely holiday.
Food - not a lot of choice; always cold. We ate out a lot as the food was so poor. Nothing for kids, my children aren't fussy so we did not struggle when we did eat here however I think a lot will due to no kids options. A family hotel should maybe put pizza nuggets or burgers or something for them even plain chicken or meat, fussy children will struggle. No toaster on a morning. Tea and coffee served to you which is also cold. You're told where to sit - large families like ourselves crammed onto a small table in the middle of everywhere with no space. For a larger hotel the dining room is manic. Waiting staff quite polite however slow with drinks. Once you have had your last mouthful of food your plate is taken away before you even have chance to swallow it. Restaurant managers have a lot of stick on here about rudeness, couldn't be further from the truth they were both polite friendly and efficient. Made us feel welcome and were extremely polite especially with the children. Pool bar served nice food so that was great to try.
Location - located on a hill, we were on the top floor with beautiful views. Mini busses are available to take you to and from your room. The hotel is beautifully presented with gorgeous grounds. Over the road is a beach where you have to pay for the sunbeds. Rocky when entering the sea, beach shoes are a great purchase. Sea is full of lovely fish close to shore so take a snorkel! Water Sports also available. Don't order a taxi-you could be waiting upto 90 minutes for one. Bus stop outside hotel takes you into the centre for 2 euro per person.
Staff- polite and very hard working. Pool bar service can be slower. Younger lady is who takes the money at the pool bar is very rude to her staff in front of people. But all in all every person we spoke to was lovely.
Rooms - big and spacious. Cleaned daily. Large balcony. We were next door to family and the balcony was a large shared one which we didn't mind but could be uncomfortable if you don't know your neighbours! Fridge in room and tea / coffee facilities
Pool- lovely large pool area and great baby pool. Plenty of sunbeds available at all times of day. Clean and grounds maintained.
Entertainment - what a shambles. By far the worst entertainment we've ever seen. Mainly done by in house staff and honestly don't waste your time watching it. Kids mini disco was terrible. Kids club horrendous. Music blaring round the pool - turn it down!
TIPS : use the bus don't order taxis Take water and snacks if on a late flight Stock up on water from supermarket Buy beach shoes
I stayed here with my family in May, after reading the petty bad reviews I felt the need to write this review. We had a fantastic stay here . The staff are very friendly and very helpful, as for restaurant's management they are only doing their job enforcing the trousers policy in my opinion in the world we are living in it's good to have standards , yes water at diners is €3 maybe budget accordingly or even better stay in an inclusive. Perfect location . Spotlessly Clean rooms are serviced daily. Fantastic authentic Greek food served daily yes no chips, pizza or nuggets but this was very refreshing. If you can't survive a week without chips then the pool bar restaurant serves home cooked chips at lunch which are beautiful. Yes the hotel shop is expensive but short walk to kardamena to stock up on essentials was far from a chore. We enjoyed our stay so much at this beautiful hotel we are returning in October with more family on our recommendation .
We booked a 6-night stay, but we checked out after the very first night because the experience was simply unacceptable. We have already reported the property to Booking.com and submitted a formal complaint to the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
Although the hotel’s location is beautiful, the management completely ruins the experience.
From the moment we arrived, there was no sense of hospitality. The reception staff were cold, unfriendly, and seemed annoyed whenever we asked for anything. Instead of trying to solve problems, they made us feel like we were bothering them.
Our reservation included dinner. The hotel has a strict policy requiring men to wear long trousers in the restaurant. While we don’t necessarily agree with such a rule at a holiday resort, we decided to respect it since we were traveling with two families and children.
The hotel provided two pairs of trousers, but one pair clearly did not fit my friend. We politely explained the situation and simply asked if they could make an exception for that evening.
Instead, one of the hotel managers came over with an incredibly rude attitude. She insisted that the trousers fit, saying, “Look, they fit you,” while physically grabbing and touching my friend in front of other guests. Her body language, tone of voice, and behavior were completely unprofessional and disrespectful.
Another manager arrived shortly afterward, but rather than listening or trying to resolve the issue, he became even more dismissive and confrontational. It was obvious that customer satisfaction meant nothing to them.
We paid for a relaxing holiday, yet we were treated as if we were in some kind of detention facility.
Our wives and children entered the restaurant while we stayed outside trying to resolve the trouser issue. At the entrance, staff even confiscated our half-full bottles of water, only to sell 1.5-liter bottles inside at an outrageously inflated price.
I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world, but I’ve never experienced anything like this.
The room was far from clean. There was a strong unpleasant smell, and when I accidentally dropped my room key and looked under the bed, I found dust and spider webs everywhere. That alone tells you how thoroughly the rooms are cleaned.
There wasn’t even a bottle of drinking water in the room. If you wanted water, you had to call a shuttle and go down to the market to buy it yourself. For a hotel claiming to offer a quality holiday experience, this is simply unacceptable.
Final thoughts
The location is the only positive thing about this hotel. Everything else—from the management’s attitude to the customer service, cleanliness, and overall hospitality—was a huge disappointment.
Throughout our stay, we felt as though the hotel was doing us a favor by allowing us to be there, rather than treating us as paying guests.
We left after one night despite having paid for six.
