This family-friendly hotel is situated in Psalidi, around 50 m from the closest pebble beach and quite close to the centre of Kos. The hotel area is surrounded by large verandas and beautiful gardens. The bus station, restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance; the popular nightspots are just a few kilometres away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Title: A holiday that could have been so much better with clearer information
We recently stayed at the Continental Palace in Kos and, unfortunately, the experience left us feeling very disappointed — particularly with the information we were given when booking through TUI.
The holiday itself had some positives. Kos is beautiful, and we enjoyed getting out and exploring the island. The location of the hotel was also convenient for getting into Kos Town, which we really liked.
However, there were several things that really took the shine off our holiday.
Firstly, the hotel states its a 4 star for the amenities there is would class this at 3 star
We were also particularly unhappy about the charge for our final day. We had been led to believe through the TUI information that the cost would be around £30.66, but when we arrived we were told it would be €10 per person/per night, which came to around €70 for us. This was an unexpected additional expense that we simply hadn't budgeted for.
The biggest disappointment came on our final day. Our flight wasn't until around 11pm, and we were told that we had to check out at 11am. We understood that we couldn't keep the room all day, but we were extremely disappointed to discover that once we had checked out, we were effectively no longer treated as guests — including not being able to have our evening meal, despite having paid for a 7-night holiday.
We had already run out of euros by this point and therefore had to find additional money to pay for food in Kos Town before returning for our transfer. We had paid for our holiday expecting the arrangements to be as advertised, so having to spend even more money unexpectedly on our final evening was frustrating.
What made this worse was that we had not felt these details were made sufficiently clear to us before travelling. Had we known exactly what the additional charges and final-day arrangements would involve, we could have budgeted and planned accordingly.
We raised our concerns with TUI afterwards and were particularly disappointed by their response, as they offered no compensation at all, despite the issues we experienced.
We don't expect everything on holiday to be perfect, and we appreciate that hotels have check-out times and that additional services can have charges. Our frustration is really about clear communication and transparency. When you're booking through a major holiday company, you expect the information on the booking to accurately reflect what you're going to experience.
Kos itself is lovely and there are definitely things we enjoyed about our trip, but unfortunately the unexpected costs and the way our final day was handled left us feeling that we didn't get the experience we had paid and planned for.
When asking for information on historical sites each time we were met with come back later.. one occasion half way through a conversation the receptionist stop and greeted what I assume is returning customer we dismissed to be told yet again come back later.
There was no basic items in the room tea coffee. No iron also . Our rooms only had new towels and sheets floors we're never cleaned during our stay
Would we return? Probably not to this hotel, and we would certainly be much more careful about checking the small print and final-day arrangements before booking another TUI package holiday. Definitely return to Kos it's a beautiful island with friendly people and places to visit.
We were very happy with Popi Düring our meals. She was friendly, open, and positive, and always responded quickly to our requests. She made us feel comfortable and created a pleasant atmosphere. We really appreciated her attentive and kind service.
Just got back from a week at Continental Palace. Loved every minute of the holiday. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was adequate but could have offered more for Vegans.Rooms a bit tired but clean. Sub bed a bit if a problem with people saving them each morning. Thank you yo Irene who was so helpful and Olivia (lifeguard) who dealt with my Granddon after getting bitten by insect. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return at some point. Only 25 minute walk to Old Town.
Very good hotel breakfast and evening meal very poor
We had a wonderful two-week stay at Continental Palace. We booked a great-value package holiday from our regional airport (Exeter), and for what we paid, it exceeded our expectations.
I'll start with the negatives, as they're fairly minor. The beds weren't the most comfortable, but that's something we've experienced on pretty much every Greek holiday. The showers could also be a little variable in both water pressure and temperature, which again seems fairly typical in Greece rather than being unique to this hotel.
The positives far outweighed these small issues. The food was genuinely excellent, particularly at the beginning of our stay in late June when the hotel was slightly quieter. We knew we had booked half board, so drinks with the evening meal aren't included, but bottled water is reasonably priced and there are also some lovely wines if you want to treat yourself.
There was an excellent choice at both breakfast and dinner every day. I'm pescatarian and never struggled to find plenty of delicious options. Buffet meals are never going to be quite the same as dining in one of the fantastic local restaurants, but we were consistently impressed with the quality and variety.
The staff really made the holiday special. The reception team, waiting staff and housekeeping were all friendly, welcoming and incredibly hardworking. The grounds were also immaculate and beautiful. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and their service added so much to our stay.
We were fortunate enough to have a sea-view balcony, which was a lovely bonus. The beach is directly across the road and is beautiful. It attracts plenty of locals who come to swim every day, which says a lot about the quality of the beach. There's also a lovely beach café where you can hire sunbeds if you fancy spending the day by the sea.
The location was perfect for us. It's far enough from Kos Town to avoid the late-night noise, but close enough to enjoy an easy walk into town and to reach many of the island's boat trips, excursions and other activities.
The entertainment can be quite loud, but it's only on four evenings a week and finishes by around 10 or 11 pm. If entertainment isn't your thing, I'd recommend packing a pair of earplugs.
The pool area was excellent, and we never had any trouble finding sunbeds, even during busier periods. We also had a fantastic massage at the Serenity Spa within the hotel grounds, which we'd definitely recommend.
Overall, this isn't a luxury five-star resort, nor does it pretend to be. What it does offer is outstanding value for money, an excellent location, friendly staff, great food and everything you need for a relaxing holiday in Kos. We left feeling we'd had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Continental Palace to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming base from which to explore the island.
