This hotel is located on a beautiful beach on the north side of the island, near Mastihari village, 18 km form the city of Kos and just 11 km from the airport. It is built according to the Aegean style of architecture, in blue and white, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens with palm trees and colourful flowers. This resort, facing the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea, remains an ideal place for holidays. The nearest public transport connection is 500 metres from the hotel, whilst shops, bars, and restaurants can be found in Mastihari 5 km from the hotel. The hotel features standard rooms, apartments, studios and maisonettes with sea view or garden view. Clean hotel, lovely staff. Could do with more activities
Lovely stay at a spotlessly clean hotel. Lovely staff, no one could do enough. Whether it was tin foil for our take out sandwiches or ensuring our gluten intolerant son had plenty of options from the head chefs Michał and Konstantinos, the restaurant manageress Zografina went above and beyond to look after us. The food was great and the baclava was the best we’ve ever had. The lovely Mirela was always a delight on the main bar in the evening. The only areas of development would be: have a fuller range of activities for guests to participate in during the day, clean the infinity pool each evening and provide bigger glasses for beers in the daytime (in the evening they were fine). The sea on this west side of the island is choppier and has less visibility as a result. The sea on the opposite side is substantially clearer, calmer but much, much colder! We walked to the local water park…would recommend caution if doing the same (roads are narrow, without a footpath and poorly sighted).
Great Family Holiday - Thank you Smy!
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this hotel for a lovely family break. It’s a really clean, well-kept hotel with everything you need, and all of the staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect for us.
The entertainment team were a real highlight, particularly Veronica and Megan. The energy they had every evening for the mini disco, and then the shows afterwards, was brilliant. They were so enthusiastic and really helped create a great atmosphere.
We also used the kids’ club on three occasions and our little girl really enjoyed it. They put on activities for the children, and the animation team T-shirts are such a lovely touch and make a really nice little souvenir to take home.
The food was good, with plenty of variety, and all three of us always managed to find something we enjoyed. The pools were also great and perfect for families. Yes, people do reserve sunbeds, but I think that’s probably to be expected in the height of summer! We found some near the splash park which gave us some shade and were also perfect for our little girl.
One thing we did notice was that a couple of people appeared to cut their feet in the pool during our stay, and unfortunately my husband did the same on our last day. Hopefully this is something the hotel can look into, as it seems to be a recurring issue mentioned in some other reviews.
The umbrellas around the pool area also don’t move, which can be a bit of a pain if you don’t manage to get sunbeds with one, as you then have no shade once the sun moves. There are day beds available to hire, but we didn’t realise this until we were actually asked to move from one by a member of staff. It would have been useful to have this information explained at check-in.
The beach is lovely and just a short walk away, although the sea was quite choppy while we were there. We found the sea much calmer in other parts of the island. If you fancy getting out for lunch one day, Namaste, the restaurant next to the hotel, was lovely and definitely worth a visit.
The location is slightly out of the way, and we felt that getting taxis everywhere could become quite expensive. Instead, we hired a car directly from the company based at the hotel, which worked perfectly for us. It was €110 for the day, which I thought was really reasonable. We visited Agios Stefanos Beach, the Peacock Forest and then headed into Kos Town, which made for a brilliant day of exploring without feeling like we were out all day.
One VERY important tip - PLEASE take mosquito spray and bite cream with you! They were SAVAGE! 😂 I wish we’d read some of the top tips before going. It did settle down throughout our stay, but I got a lot of bites during the first few days.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. It was a lovely, relaxed family holiday and we would happily return. If we come back to Kos, we would definitely stay here again

A great family holiday
We stayed at Smy Kos for nine nights with our six-year old daughter and loved it.
We arrived in the evening and immediately the reception staff told us that check-in could wait and we should leave our bags and go for dinner before the restaurant closed. A nice little touch and an example of the excellent customer service we received from staff throughout.
The hotel itself was extremely clean and very well laid out. There always seemed to be a small army of staff quietly yet efficiently buzzing around behind the scenes, from housekeepers and catering team to bar staff and even one man decoratively cutting the hedges.
Our room was lovely and was located right outside the great little splash park which our daughter absolutely loved. There’s the main pool with attentive lifeguards (the comments we’d seen previously wasn’t our experience), then there’s the infinity pool down by the beach.
There are plenty of sunbeds throughout both pools, although getting in early to reserve your spot with your towels is recommended. On a totally unrelated note…it’s an international hotel, so you will hear your fair share of German, Polish, French and other nationalities during your stay, as well as English of course.
Food was excellent throughout, lots of variety in the main restaurant and we also enjoyed the snack bar by the beach. As others have stated, the homemade pizza is simply fantastic - well worth a short wait for a slice or two and you’ll definitely want more.
The animation team was excellent. Our daughter went to the kids club on a few occasions and enjoyed herself (and made holiday friends…an important achievement for an outgoing six-year old!). The mini disco was superb and a special shoutout here to Veronica and Megan for their endless enthusiasm and dancing. And while we didn’t go to the evening shows, we heard them (they finish by 10:30) and most seemed excellent entertainment with some superb singing.
The on-site shop was very, very good, a proper Aladdin’s cave supplying anything and everything you could possibly need, including snacks, drinks, gifts and pool accessories.
The only tiny negative, as others have mentioned, is the pool did seem to cause a few cuts and grazes here and there. The steps into the pool seemed particularly slippy and we noticed a few plasters being applied here and there. Oh and take bug spray (plenty in the shop too) but even that may not prevent a “welcome to Greece” from a mosquito or two.
Top tip: We hired a car for the day from the on-site car rental desk. We were able to see the peacocks in Plaka Forest, visit Agios Stefanos beach with crystal clear water and also drive into Kos town where we went on a boat trip and our daughter got her hair braided.
This car hire essentially worked out the same as two return taxis to Kos town, which given we explored some of the rest of the island we thought was extremely reasonable. It’s a great island to drive around.
Top tip #2 - if you fancy something a bit different then visit Namaste restaurant by the beach. Obviously you have to pay separately for this as it’s not part of the resort, but we found this a great place to enjoy our final lunch, with some stunning views.
All in all, it was an excellent stay. and we’d highly recommend others to visit here.

10/10 experience , would 100% recommend for everyone to stay at Smy hotel when visiting Kos. Many activities to do , night time performances were great also. Staff were all lovely particularly Mirela , Ilias and Thomas , all very lovely people you should look out for on your stay.

The location was great, with a lovely, calm atmosphere. The accommodation was a good size, manageable, and very clean.
Every day, someone came to clean my room with a smile, which I really appreciated. There was hardly any noise, so it was very peaceful and relaxing.
The service was excellent. All the staff were lovely, friendly, welcoming, and always smiling, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The entertainment was also spot-on, and the kids were kept well entertained throughout our stay.
Overall, I’m very happy and glad that we chose to come here. We had a lovely experience, and I would definitely come back again!
