Special place in Oia

Review by TwixUK Aberdeen, United Kingdom

We travelled as a couple with our teenage daughter and selected Fanari Villas based on its location and accommodation offering and facilities.

We were not disappointed, everything was perfect.

The location offered privacy right in the heart of the Oia setting for views, gorgeous sunsets, and proximity to easily walk into the main streets of the town.

The accommodation in room 8 offered two rooms - both spacious and tastefully decorated in Santorini style. One room was the dining/kitchen area with a single bed opening to a spacious balcony, the other a larger room with double bed set into a cave area and living area opening onto a smaller balcony. There was also a lovely little private plunge jacuzzi type pool, which was heated and afforded great relaxation whilst watching passing boats or the sunset.

The hotel also has a lovely large pool - half inside a cave and half outside, with adjoining showers, gym and jacuzzi...

It wasn’t heated, but even in October was a welcome relief after a hot day out and about.

Set high up on the caldera, we felt very private during the busier times such as sunset - when people literally flock to find the best spot to watch the sun going down, whilst we didn’t have to move at all, and could simply enjoy from our balconies.

The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating - from pre-arrival requests, to assisting with transfers, the porters who brought our luggage to and from the drop off area (this is after all a town built into the cliff/mountain, inevitably there are lots of steps - comfy shoes a must, but these chaps are well equipped to help transfer your luggage), to service at breakfast, enquiries at reception or the restaurant for dinner. Anything you could need was provided or could be taken care of.

The restaurant was superb for dinner and comes highly recommended.

We explored the town of Oia easily from the hotel, and also walked down the 300 odd steps to the quaint seaside village of Ammoudi and back, passing the tallest donkeys we’ve ever seen (who transport wary travellers if you’re not up to the walk), caught a local bus to Thira and onto sights before walking the 10km or so back along the caldera to Oia.

A quick 25 mins from the airport or port for the ferries too.

In summary we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and found Fanari Villas the perfect base for our time on the island.

Thank you to the staff for making such a memorable stay for us.

Perfect place to stay in Oia

We went back last week from a delicious moment at Fanari Villas where we spent a whole week . We rent the family suits with a direct view on the sunset. That was the commitment of the the rental and it was! So,the spot is just perfect...

The rooms are exactly as describe on the website,no bad surprise! The troglodyte rooms & bathrooms ,the jacuzzi outside with the incredible view on The Caldera ,everything is there to make you feel the Santorini’s spirit. The entire staff was very friendly and always smiling with a nice word for the guests. We didn’t get the chance to diner at the hotel’s restaurant but every morning it was a delectable place where to get the breakfast in a quiet place with a lot of choice and still the kindness of the staff -might be the common point of Greek folks everywhere!- in a word: perfect.

Great place in the best location in Oia

Review by 11DRTrips East Brunswick, New Jersey

We just came back from our four day stay in Fanari Villas and I cannot say enough praises for this place. Surely there are fancier and more luxurious hotels in Oia, but if you want to have some authentic island experience while enjoying all the modern amenities and the best views - this is the place to choose.

Incomparable views, beautiful location and accommodations, fantastic staff.

Review by 744missyw Freeport, Illinois

Fantastic location, beautiful accommodations and spectacular views. Our small villa had our own jacuzzi pool, small but perfect for two, from which we could enjoy the majestic sunsets from. The restaurant was very good, al fresh food that was prepared masterfully...

We tried most everything in their menu, delicious! Breakfast was included in our stay, eggs, crepes, ham and sausage plus all kind of cheese and cold cuts, really fresh Greek yogurt with local honey and an array of nuts and dried fruit. Large assortment of breads and pastries, every morning they had one local specialty, which was fun to try. If you are planning a trip to Santorini, this hotel is a must.

Amazing view and perfect location

Review by Rolu14 Nutley, New Jersey

We had an amazing time at Fanari villas. The view is amazing and the location couldn’t be better. It’s close to the Oía castle, the famous blue dome churches and restaurants...

Around 6 pm everybody is looking for the perfect spot to watch the sunset while we we watching from our balcony; the villas are private so tourist won’t disturb you during the sunset. We stayed at the junior suite and it was spacious and clean. The breakfast is good and has a lot of variety. The pool is nice but the water is a little bit cold. The hotel provided fresh fruits and a bottle of wine at our arrival. They also gave us a complimentary drink when we got there. Something to keep in mind is that you get 15% off at their restaurant and their food is very good.
