Excellent Hotel

Review by Karen H San Jose, California

We stayed for the second time and again the impressions were excellent. Luxury, professionalism and care for the visitor to an absolute degree, you relax with this view and forget. What we tried in the restaurants and the bar (snack & cocktails) was also excellent...

It's not cheap by any means but it's one of those situations where you don't regret it and it's worth spoiling yourself

Paradise Found

Review by slipin17 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

We landed in Santorini only to find another hotel gave our room away. This hotel was exceptional in accommodating my husband, myself and our 12 year old son. (Children under 13 are not normally allowed)...

The views, pools, and service are spectacular!

Amazing week in Katikies Oia, thank you all for such a wonderful time.

What an amazing week weve had with my wife in the Katikies in Oia (without the kids, 😉). Wonderful sceneries, great infrastructure, delicious food (starting with breakfast with large choices, at pool deck restaurants, and a delightful degustation menu at Botrini's), great massage, and above all a really friendly and welcoming staff. They all make you feel welcome and enjoy your stay.

Thank you.

A place to go without any hesitation...

Best service will make it the hotel it should be

My wife and I found ourselves at Katikes for 3 nights as part of a wedding anniversary celebration trip. This is our second stay at Katikies, the first was in 2015 and it was an extraordinary and pleasant experience. Sadly, there are aspects related to the quality of the service that, to our total surprise, have changed.

The hotel's service in the second level pool area is poor and leaves a lot to be desired...

They advertise on their site, and they confirmed it to me today, that the second deck pool bar opens at 11:00 a.m. On their site, the same one that they even provide to the guest to scan in the room, they also announce it. However, from 11:00 am to 11:25 am there was no one to serve us. Seeing that time continued to pass with no one in the bar, at 11:25 a.m. I asked an employee who apparently works there if it was open yet, and surprisingly he told me to wait and kept walking. What? Are you serious? No hotel should affect the time of enjoyment of a guest nor should it advertise services or facilities that do not honor and/or do not adjust to the reality of what they offer.

On the other hand, on the site that Katikies maintains in force today, inviting the traveler and tourist sector to stay, they show a photograph with sun-beds around the pool located on the second level, which invites to separate a space from the day to enjoy it. However, I arrived close to 8:00 am. I walked into the area and found standard tables and chairs, they had no sunbeds around the pool.

I spoke to staff who were doing maintenance around the pool area and he told me to wait because it was so early. really? When nothing happened, hours later I phoned reception and a gentleman stated that they cannot put sunbeds in the mentioned area because there is no space. How? But if in our visit in 2015 they had them placed around the pool, it is the same area and that is how they show it on their site. Before there was space for the sun beds and now there isn't? What explanation is that?

Uncomfortable with this situation, I spoke personally with the managerial staff in charge and they recognized that they have not changed photos on their site to update it, that the marketing department works with it. What? Are you serious? Why don't you advertise on your site that the photos don't necessarily reflect what the guest will see upon arrival when it comes to the second level pool?

The answer was that as a choice they have sunbeds on the path in front of and under the second level pool and not around it, which is not the same at all, the experience is different. They offered as alternative the pool located in the first level. But we want to experience different facilities as they offer.

If not, why do hotels place chairs around the pool itself as Katikies does with the first level pool?

Management couldn't even justify why they didn't have staff attending the second level pool bar area. This is unacceptable, less in a hotel of this category and cost.

Katikies is a hotel with a privileged location, its interior areas are always neat and clean, you can enjoy a spectacular view and the food is exquisite… but unfortunately some things need to be improved. The service has not been up to our expectations and the explanations have not been satisfactory at all.

We will always wish them the best because we lived a pleasant experience in 2015.

Review by spunkypear Washington DC, District of Columbia

Considering the reputation and how expensive this property is, we were extremely disappointed with our experience. Rooms were decorated with cheap furniture and bathrooms looked very cheesy. We had an incident with the hotel which the front desk agreed was "unacceptable" but they never followed up with us and didn't seem to care...

Service was also very odd and missed the mark. For example, someone from the hotel's excursions team stopped by our table at breakfast to try and sell us on an all day boat trip for the following day despite it being our last day on the island. If I returned to Oia, I would definitely stay at a different luxury hotel.
