TripAdvisor Review
Greece, Europe

This fantastic beach hotel is very nicely located 100 metres away from the closest beach. Within walking distance guests will also be able to reach the bustling nightlife area of Kamari, with a variety of bars, pubs and discos. Guests can easily reach Fira and Oia, as the nearest bus stop is just a couple of blocks away. This is a perfect hotel for those who wish to be near to the beach and at the same time want to be close to the liveliest area on the island. *Note: The accommodation fee is paid directly from final consumer to hotel upon arrival or departure.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Pictures do not represent the current state of the Hotel

The hotel did not meet the 4 star standards if anything it was more of a 2 star accommodation. The pictures on their website are not a representation of the property esthetics. The washroom tub had rust and was not cleaned properly and they sprayed something in the room that was extremely strong and the scent was in the fabrics so it’s not like we could air it out...

It was unbearable to stay in the room and created headaches having to spend the night in the room.

We requested to be moved and were told that they were overbooked. We called the rep and only after a few attempts requesting an update, we were moved to Aegean Plaza. It was frustrating ordeal to say the least.

Short wal from black sand beaches and amazing bars

Review by msfiyah01 Washington DC, District of Columbia

Pros: Friendly, polite and helpful staff

Room smells fantastic upon entry

The room is minimalist, but cleanly and efficiently decorated

Small patio in my room had a chair and two tables

Fridge in the room

Robe and slippers in the cabinet

Scale in the bathroom (if you're into that kind of torture)

Elevator on site

Shampoo, body wash, cotton puffs, dental kit and shower cap provided

Makeup mirror in the room

Laundry service is an astoundingly affordable: €15 per bag. if you drop it off by 9 a.m. it will likely be back in your room later that afternoon (PRO TIP: make sure the mind you give them is all one color because they will wash everything in the same load...)

Coffee machine makes all kinds of lattes, mochaccinos, Americanos, and more...

Very good coffee (and I'm a tea drinker)

Pool area is GORGEOUS! Deep blue tile in the pool, bright white tables... And the area is illuminated at night making it even more stunning

Short walk to black sand beach (make sure that you head to the beach early one morning to catch the sunrise!)

There is a restaurant directly across the street

Short walk to several bars, restaurants, and markets, including a 24-hour mini mart (There is also a mini mart right next door)

Cons: Rooms are generally quiet, but you can hear the occasional loud noise such as chairs scraping the stone floors and dogs barking in neighboring rooms

Not a very good view from my room (201)

No iron or ironing board in the room (but they are available upon request from the front desk)

No washcloths in the room

The linens in the bathroom are hard, and in some cases stained and torn/frayed

The bed is very low and I kept hitting my knee on it

Tub is very high... Not good news if you have mobility issues

Makeup mirror is very high on the bathroom wall (If you are under 5'7, you're going to have a bit of a tough time)

No lotion or conditioner provided in the room

Breakfast buffet has many options but is just ok. Not the best I've has in Greece. Much of it was overcooked/overbaked.

Beautiful poolside bar, but no one is ever there working behind it

Be careful what clothes you give housekeeping to wash. They will wash it all in one load. I had a pair of pants with white accents and a tan cardgan that they washed with a red sundress... now those items are all a shade of pink. :/

The water pressure is okay, but the tiny threads of water make an expeditious shower nearly impossible

Review by Mary P George Town, Grand Cayman

I just returned from a week long stay at this hotel with 4 of my friends. The rooms are certainly sufficient and the value of what got was great for the price. What this hotel lacked in style the entire hotel staff made up for in congeniality and making us feel like royalty and I personally love that fact more than anything as when I go on vacation with friends I rarely spend anytime in the room outside of sleeping and getting ready for the next day adventure...

The rooms were functional and spotless, housekeeping was right on top of it each day as soon as you left the room. The staff was outstanding from the front desk reception to the waitstaff and the bar service. Always a warm friendly smile with kind words any time they saw you. Excellent reception at the front desk, anything we wanted or needed from consultations on where to go , what restaurants to try, rides to and from the hotel when we went out for a great price and a great driver. It was really refreshing and personalized service. Our waitstaff was very attentive in the morning, Babis, Rigor, Nutche, always poised with a warm welcome and conversation, our bartender Giannis was very accommodating poolside and quite funny and entertaining. Yiannis at the front desk couldn't have been a more congenial host all of them making you feel welcome as if you were staying at their home...The pool is lovely and centrally located . The morning brunch was always clean and well stocked with conventional breakfast foods as well as many Greek specialties and always delicious. The location is wonderful just a few minute walk from the hotel all the restaurants, bars, and shops you could ask for are there. Next door to the hotel there was a great convenience store with everything you could want or need handy to you. Honestly, we were very glad we didn';t stay in the hustle and bustle of the bigger towns like Fira and Oia, we had a lot of fun at this beach located hotel that truly made us feel like family from the minute we walked through the front door. We had a whole day before we left and they kept our luggage in a safe spot so we could still enjoy the our last day to the final minutes before we left for the airport. We were truly sad to leave. This hotel has great location, great value, and a warm friendly wonderful staff . We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to all of our friends.

Hotel Transylvannia?

Supposedly 4 star hotel but far from it. Small room with musty smell. No curtains! Just veil curtains...

Bedsheets are hard and damp-feeling. Yelowing towels. Large patch of mould on wall near aircon (photos). Two bathroom downlights hanging by wires (photo). Half-size child's bath too small for adult. Surly wait staff in restaurant. Unattractive lounge/waiting area with crowded appliances (photo). Average breakfast included stale breadsticks and metallic machine coffee. On plus side close to beach and restaurants. NOT RECOMMENDED

Rooms need some TLC

Review by pgconroy Southern NJ

Currently staying here on the last leg of our Gate 1 14 day Greece tour. While the outside and pool area of this hotel look great, our room is extremely small and shabby with poor furnishings and bed and bathroom needing updating. Most in our group have similar rooms, so we are not an exception...

Hopefully Gate 1 will remove this hotel from their trip because the rooms are not up to par with the other hotels on our trip. Disappointing end to a great trip.
