Alykanas Beach Grand Hotel by Zante Plaza

Before we went here we looked at all the reviews! So we was a bit worried! We arrived on the 22nd July and came home on the 11th August! Our group included 12 adults and 5 children! What a time we all had! This is a great place for grown ups and children! The food was good, giving a wide range of choice! The drinks were good too! Everything was of a high standard. The staff in all departments were excellent friendly and very helpful! From the life guard to the maintenance man! There were no wasps, bees or hairs in showers, or chipped paintwork that all the other sad sacks have moaned about! So do not listen to the moaning people who have complained! There may be slippy issues in bathrooms but to over come that do not have the shower on full blast! Beers not top quality but still drinkable tastes better in a glass than a plastic beaker! Wine is on tap and very nice! Great well cooked food, a good and varied assortment for every ones taste! Breakfast assortment brilliant! All in all great place to stay and lots of places to visit! Trips, bars and clubs also! two great bars next to the complex with great entertainment! From our old friend Sakis in DILEMA, BONKERS, IRISBAR IN ALIKES, AND ALSO FORTIS AND HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE in the ZANTE DOLPHIN! And also the fabulous ANIMOS BEACH HOUSE with Megan and her husband sons and staff are worth a coat of looking at. I had a brilliant 70 birthday bash with family and friends who also came over to celebrate with us all! Yes without a doubt Alykanas/ Alikes and all the surrounding bars clubs restaraunts places are superb guys! No worries on having an excellent holiday! ENJOY!

This Hotels main pull is the location - it is a stride from the Beach which is perfect. However it needs to improve in all other areas.

The All inclusive is very basic, the same food most day under the "guise" of a theme, although it was tasty.

The alcoholic drinks are very poor quality.

The Reception staff are unwelcoming and not friendly, and really did make a long day of travelling even worse when we arrived to a very abrupt gentleman.

The rooms are tired and in desperate need of attention, especially the bathrooms! Also, there were no drawers in our room ! very little storage space for a family of 4 to store their clothes. There was a safe in the room but no instructions or a key to use it.

The sunbed situation is crazy, there are signs stating not the reserve sunbeds but they are, and some remain empty for most of the day. Saying all that we did have a great holiday as you cant let things drag you down.

Our fourth time visiting Alykanas and our first at an All Inclusive in this resort. We booked it because our favoured hotel (Alykanas Village) was more expensive than this one, was a no brainer to book all inc.

Fabulous location Pool is adequate For me the food was generally good, the occasional cold dish but I’ll eat a wide range of foods. My husband was disappointed with the desert choices. The room was clean and did the job (307) but as it’s on a ground floor passage way, it was noisy. Noise from staff talking loudly in the corridor or neighbours scraping chairs or parents not parenting. Nice 6am wake up the one morning to the sounds of the air hockey table…

Biggest negative for me is the alcoholic drinks. The cocktails are all pre mixed out of a machine, are pure sugar and if there’s alcohol in there, well I can’t find it. I resorted to buying my own bottle of rum and adding it to the lemonade. The wine is barely drinkable unless you add a splash of lemonade.

We have eaten and drank out more than we planned due to the poor alcohol choices and at times the poor entertainment (karaoke).

This holiday cost us £5k for 12 nights. This plus eating and drinking out equates to a very, very expensive holiday. Unfortunately, we have now been priced out of visiting again in school holidays.
