The hotel is more like a three star hotel the new team running the hotel do not make you welcome the reception staff are rude and could not care less , the only one who cared was the reception manager, the food in the main restaurant is repetitive and temperatures are not monitored some food warm in the danger zone, the other restaurants you can booked are only booked to 50 per cent capacity due to low staffing levels major concern is security any one from the beach area can just walk into the hotel areas in challenged and you traders walking around you trying to sells fake food while your in the hotel areas and the hotel is in a poor state of maintenance., was once 5 star but now just a average 3 star hotel
Cleanliness was excellent everywhere around the hotel including the rooms, restaurants and pool areas. The beds were very comfortable and we slept perfectly every night. Service was quick and professional, and check in was smooth and friendly. We had a wonderful holiday overall.
Unfortunately much like most reviews, we can only echo the sentiment that this is not a five star hotel, having stayed in 2 other five star properties over the past 6 months including a Marriott property, this hotel fell well below the standard expected.
The main entrance to the hotel is lovely and well designed, and the staff are friendly. However the extent that guest services will help you is limited. We requested a lunch booking at the meze restaurant (having by luck managed to secure bookings at the Italian and surfer maya restaurants) and were simply told no, there’s no availability. Like most of the Al la carte restaurants it was mostly empty when we went to have a look so this is was so disappointing. The Al La Carte food we did have was disappointing and not to the standard expected, I am surprised surfer maya is pitched as a dinner option given it’s literally fast food out of paper containers, it would be much more suited to a lunch time style dining service.
The buffet is OK but often times food can be cold and undercooked, you also have to mostly serve yourself drinks. Coffee etc this was a first for us in a five star hotel to have coffee straight out a machine in the morning.
The pool bar is slow and often has a queue forming, the pool area can get dirty and the sunbeds are dirty and many are broken and mismatched. I have also never been to a hotel that does not have sunbed service, and servers coming round to see if you’d like a drink. This is just basics really.
The turtle conservation is wonderful work, and it was nice to come down in the morning to see many new nests crop up over night.
The grounds in general seem half finished the side closest to the buffet is beautiful, however the side by the main bar looks unfinished and is largely a cat litter tray for the resident kittens and cats given it’s just huge patches of sand.
Our room although lovely designed on first appearance was not well maintained with the paint peeling from the bathroom door, a chipped and badly repaired sink and a shower that flooded the bathroom as the screen is not long enough. Our housekeeper was lovely and she worked hard every day and kept our room lovely and fresh. She is a credit to the hotel.
There are not enough staff to service the level needed to be deemed a 5 star hotel which is a shame and there are many many areas for improvement. To say we were disappointed in Jet2 over this holiday would be an understatement and I am surprised Marriott have lended their name to this hotel.
We have just returned from another fantastic holiday at this hotel. The location is truly amazing. Set on the beach, you would struggle to find anywhere better. The food as always was superb, you have a buffet restaurant, and also 5 specialist restaurants, which of course you have to book, or else not everyone would get a chance to use them. The rooms are pristine and extremely clean, the cleaners come round all the time and nothing is ever too much trouble. The bars and bar staff are amazing. Well equipped and again, nothing too much trouble. There are more than enough sunbeds to chose from. The pool is life guarded and amply big enough. The porters help u with everything u need. The manager is possibly the nicest man I have ever met. I have read a lot of bad reviews about this hotel and I just don’t get it. If you have a problem, which happens I know, then they will sort it for you. This hotel would suit both families with young children and also couples. Any one thinking of booking here, do not be put off by any bad reviews. This hotel is amazing.
We had a pleasant stay overall, especially thanks to the very friendly and helpful staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the housekeeping team did a good job. A special thank you to Ioanna at reception, who was incredibly kind and helpful when I was not feeling well. Her support was greatly appreciated.
The hotel itself is nicely designed and the beach is very close by. Part of the beach was closed because of turtle nesting, but this did not bother us at all and is, of course, an important thing to respect.
There are, however, a few areas that could be improved, especially for families with children. The pool feels too small for the number of guests, and the children’s pool is particularly tiny. Unfortunately, it also did not seem to be cleaned properly during our stay. There was constantly sand and dirt around it, and part of the pool floor was peeling, which did not give a very well-maintained impression.
The biggest downside for us was the lack of activities for children, particularly in the afternoon and evening. There is no real playground, the kids’ splash area closes at 18:00, and the game room is mainly suitable for older children. As a result, there is very little to do with young children in the evening. If you are looking for a quiet, laid-back holiday with not much organised entertainment, this hotel is a good choice. However, when travelling with children, we found it a little boring.
The food was OK, with plenty of choice, although we were disappointed that we could not book the à la carte restaurant. It seems that reservations need to be made well in advance, before arrival, which we did not know. The same applied to Meze.
Overall, a nicely designed hotel with genuinely friendly staff and a good location, but the facilities and entertainment for younger children could definitely be improved.
