AluaSoul Zakynthos

Well I can truly say what a fantastic time we had at the Alausoul. Alexander and his team were incredible! Shout out to Tony, Mania and rest of the bar staff, you all rock. Food was lovely and plenty of it 😋 yum!! Room was a good size, Alexander we needed a dressing table lol. Hotel was clean and tidy, ambient noise from the cicadas during the day was restful lol. In all chilled and relaxed holiday🫠

Me and my Husband stayed here for 7 nights at the beginning of August.

I'm not really one to leave reviews especially ones that have criticism but felt this needed one.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely woman at the desk, as we upgraded to My Favourite Club she took us over to a seating area to check in and get a welcome drink.

Room: The room was nice, clean and tidy, view was amazing. We did find it a bit unusual to have the toilet behind the door but small negative. The first night I noticed the air con unit had an issue. The pillars on the inside were stuck to the right so the air was blowing towards the double doors which meant we couldn't feel the cool air.

We mentioned this at reception the next morning. We returned to the room just after 3 and it was not fixed. My Husband was going to the gym while I stayed in the room so he mentioned it at reception on the way there and said they would send someone up. My Husband came back about 2 hours later and still nobody came.

My Husband decided to try and fix it himself which he did. We went to dinner about 7 and when we went to reception to let them know he fixed it. The man behind the desk must have misheard what we said as according to him someone had been to the room and fixed it. But that didn't happen as I was in the room and my Husband fixed it. So I'm guessing the person who was supposed to fix this had lied and said he did.

Food: I have to say the food was a bit of a letdown. It didn't seem there was much variety regarding the main food. There was plenty of fresh food and vegetables. It just seemed to lack options of meat. Also a few times we noticed certain dishes didn't have labels to indicate what it was. Some specific themed food nights would have been nice.

While we were there we did go into Tsvili to try an authentic giro and we ended up going back another night as we didn't want to eat in the restaurant again with the same food options.

We tried the Bare Nubium restaurant one night and again this was a letdown. The main meal was tiny and the dessert was to share. We ended up still hungry after this.

My Favourite Club: The main benefit of upgrading was the private sunbed/pool area which was amazing. Great view of the sea, quiet and guarenteed sunbeds although the sunbeds themselves could do with a good clean or new ones in general as they looked a bit worn down. While the extra drinks was good we felt the lack of extra food was a letdown.

The only things that were extra were some sandwiches which didn't look appealing at the Fancy Bar, a tiny square slice of pizza/cup of ice cream to the sunbeds which was inconsistent as this didn't happen everyday. Again maybe a little buffet at lunch would have been nice.

On the 3rd day I went to the Fancy Bar and got a coke for myself. When I took it back and took a sip I looked at the drink and noticed there was several ants in the drink. This was extremely distressing as I had already took a sip. Because of this I refused to get a drink from there again unless it was clear liquid so I could see it. I'm not sure where the ants came from. My Husband said why don't I complain but I'm someone who doesn't like complaining in person as I always feel bad doing this.

Something we noticed when going for food was that sometimes there was people who hadn't paid for My Favourite Club sitting in the area allocated for these members. Also something which was really random was there was never any cups/saucers on these seats in the MFC area. While in the other outdoor and indoor area there was always cups/saucers there. At lunch time there also wasn't an option to have a hot drink.

Staff: Couldn't really fault the staff. Reception staff were lovely, the lady who mainly worked at Fancy Bar was nice. Bar staff on the evening were good.

Summary: I hope that these negatives statements can be looked at as constructive. As I said at the beginning I don't normally leave reviews. Looking back a week later. This is not a bad place to stay. Believe it or not I would actually stay again, it was just all these little things added up that made it a bit disappointing. The main issue was the food but I know this is subjective and have seen many reviews praising the food. This was just out opinion on the it.
