The luxurious Grand Hotel overlooks the beautiful Mgarr harbour on the stunning little Maltese island of Gozo. The harbour displays a picturesque selection of colourful fishing boats and from the hotel; the views of the Mediterranean and across the Gozo channel are truly magnificent. This is an ideal place to get away from it all and relax, especially at sundown sipping a cocktail in the rooftop bar and restaurant.
Gozo is a small island and the Grand Hotel is a perfect base for your Maltese holiday. For many of us, getting away from the hustle and bustle of day to day living is exactly what a holiday is for. When you arrive at the Grand Hotel, you'll find this is just the right place to do that in comfort.
Gozo is much smaller than the Maltese mainland and has retained a charming sense of timelessness all its own. The Grand Hotel is located right in the harbour, a perfect place for an evening stroll to take in the sights, colours and sounds of seaside life as the sun goes down.
The Grand Hotel really does live up to its name. From the outside, the façade is impressive and the pool affords a lovely view across the water as you swim. Inside, the hotel is of a high standard with well furnished rooms and tasteful décor. All rooms are en suite, some rooms feature a walk-in shower, but most offer a bathtub. All rooms have air conditioning and heating to ensure your comfort, whatever time of year you choose to visit. Rooms are also equipped with satellite TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, Wi-Fi, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. If you really want to make the most of this wonderful location, seaview and superior rooms are available at a supplement – just ask when you book.
The views are also fantastic from the restaurant and bar which you'll find on the rooftop of the hotel. Just imagine yourself enjoying an aperitif, whilst gazing out across the harbour and looking forward to a delicious evening meal. This is what holidays at the Grand Hotel are all about. And you'll be well looked after for the duration of your stay. The Maltese are always pleased to welcome UK visitors and here is no different.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The pool is beautiful and perfect for relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The food was also delicious, with a great selection and excellent quality. Overall, a fantastic experience — we would happily come back and highly recommend this hotel!
We had such an amazing stay at this hotel! We were there with our little children, and honestly, it was incredible. The outdoor pool was absolutely amazing, and the kids had so much fun there. The staff were also super friendly and always ready to help whenever we needed something. Everything felt so welcoming and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back! 💗
Free upgrade to harbour view, lovely receptionist really helpful. Room was amazing view over infinity pool. Breakfast catered for every choice. Would love to go again.
The location is very good, near to the ferry. The hotel has an underground, free car park but the way down is just too dangerous with a small car. Too steep . We parked the car behind the hotel on street. The staff at the reception is very professional and kind. The bad experience starts with the room. The door only opens with a huge force. You need to burst in. I don’t think it is safe in case of fire! We were in room 607. The smell in the room was not pleasant at all. Not sure where it’s coming from after a week stay. It was like sewage smell. The room was large, I would say enormous compared to other hotel rooms. The decor is from 1980’ or something. Two single beds were pulled together, but my teenager son was given a sofa bed which was pretty much unsuitable for sleeping on. All springs were out and the mattress was thin. He had a backache after this week. The bathroom full of mould. The bath tub was scratched and old dirt built up. The toilet under the rim was just disgusting black. The bath sheets were changed but frankly I would not dare to give those in a 4 star hotel. They were stained. The floor was not cleaned properly because my white socks turned black. The bed sheets were not changed in that week at all. We had breakfast for a couple of days. It’s fine but after 3 days of same selections it was a bit boring. We did not have lunch or dinner there. There are plenty of restaurants nearby with good rates. The pool is nice on the 4th floor. There are sun beds and parasols available. You can order food and drink up, which was nice. I was wondering if those rooms facing the pool are actually hitting the 4 star hotel level? Certainly ours would be rated 1-2 stars. We stayed before in 4 stars hotels and this was pretty much a let down re cleanliness, decor ect. I only give 3, a generous rate because the staff is really nice.
Update - After writing my review on Trip Advisor and receiving a new room, I was asked by the management to delete my review. I replied that I would consider it, as everything I wrote was true and I attached photos. Therefore, I'm writing an update - as for the hotel itself, the cleanliness deserves a one-star rating. The dripping air conditioning, which is spewing black water and mold, and the white paint dripping directly onto the food are unacceptable. The balcony was swept once, not to mention the smudged glass on the balcony windows. If I hadn't gotten up from my chair, I wouldn't have seen the beautiful view from the balcony. Yes, we did get a new room, but with the receptionist (manager) suggesting that room 553 was of a better standard (seriously?) but that we didn't have to pay extra for it (I think that's a joke). We feel that, as guests, we shouldn't have heard something like this, because it wasn't our fault that we were treated so poorly from the start. The staff tried their best, asking every day how we were feeling and if everything was okay. The ladies at the front desk were wonderful, they really tried to do everything to make us feel better. The night receptionist was wonderful, kind, helpful, and simply professional. The bar waiters were very kind. Our dinner on the ninth floor was wonderful. The waiters and chefs were of the highest caliber (we're used to this kind of culture—thank you very much). We've stayed in various hotels around the world, of varying standards. We've also stayed in luxury hotels. We're used to guests being taken care of. Everywhere, free water with lemon and a smile was available near the reception desk. In countries with temperatures this high, this is how it should be. I must admit that in a 4-star hotel elsewhere, for a lower price, we had more amenities. The walls/air conditioning weren't falling off, and the sheets were changed daily; here, we had to ask for them. Hotels of the same standard, such as those in Spain, Greece, or Portugal, offer additional activities for children, many more attractions, concerts, and leaflets at the reception about what to see and what is recommended in each country. Restaurant opening hours are inconvenient, as guests arriving at night have no opportunity to eat and are left hungry (our experience). The BoltFood app is also recommended, but not everyone can install it on their phone. I'd like to thank the staff, who did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. They deserve praise and the highest recognition. The management/owner should consider how to rectify all the issues, as we've seen far more negative reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor than just ours. Guests at the pool also discussed the hotel's standard and the need for compensation because they weren't satisfied. Such inconveniences discourage repeat visits. After all, every business wants to make money and should encourage guests to return. Best regards.
