Service and location were very good, but we felt the hotel needs investment/upgrading of its interiors including rooms and common areas. We stayed in many Relais and Chateaux hotels around the world, and Xara disappointed us, especially given its price.
Great staff; great rooms; wonderful views from some of the rooms. We saved not having breakfast or dinner there. It is a pity that breakfast was not included in the price, there are options nearby. Avoid early March, we experienced mixed weather, little rain but that cold wind! Mdina is an incredible walled town....do not miss...
Adjoining Rabat also interesting.
came here to spend a chill out day with the Misses, on reception as soon we arrived reception staff came to welcome us. We were made to feel very welcome - this young reception lady helped our luggage upstairs and felt odd since she was a female. Quite honestly the first room we had which was really nice was ever so hot, and as soon as we informed reception they upgraded us to a lovely suite, and this room was right in the Mdina fortified walls and the view was breath taking...
Every little detail was spot on, the shower and bathroom were perfect bed very comfortoble as was lounge area. Outright pity we were only here for the day. The location of this hotel is unique with mdina being ever so peaceful, and teh fact this hotel is blessed with such a remarkable restaurant in unqiue added value.
Xara Palace is a gem of a place, Amazing service and great comfort right in the heart of Magical Mdina. The food is excellent and the staff most helpful and attentive. It is a also a great base to visit all Malta has to offer...
We stayed here for only one night but wished it was longer.
We had to move rooms due to a wifi issue (the walls are 500 years old and thick). Any other time having no wifi in such a beautiful old setting would have been a plus, but a work issue came up so we needed a strong signal...
Moving rooms led to us meeting the manager Nico, whom we absolutely have to make special mention of, because he really went over and above to make us feel valued and completely at home. His attentiveness and warmth really added to our whole experience. We were there to celebrate two special occasions and his kindness added to this immeasurably.
Thank you so much Nico, I hope it will not be too long before we are able to return.
Also, breakfast was delicious and served in a wonderful terraced dining room with views over central Malta to the sea.
Highly Recommended.
