⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely fantastic stay – highly recommend! We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at the Mayflower Hotel, and I cannot praise it enough! The entire hotel was always exceptionally clean and tidy throughout our trip, including our room . The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel—they were always so happy, friendly, and attentive, and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. We opted for the breakfast option, and it was a definite plus! It took away all the worry of sorting out food in the morning and ensured we started every single day right. The rooftop pool area is lovely, and the panoramic views from the top are completely amazing. On top of all that, the location is perfect and situated very close to the main bus depot, making exploring the island incredibly easy. As an extra bonus, their customer service is truly outstanding. When we accidentally left a highly sentimental item behind in our room after checkout, the management team went above and beyond to recover it for us immediately. Exceptional service from start to finish—we had a fantastic stay! Made amazing memories for my daughter's 1st holiday abroad and we will definitely be back ,keep up the good work team mayflower and we will definitely be back again x X
We stayed at this hotel at the end of September and beginning of October. The weather at this time of year can be quite unpredictable, with occasional rain and often cloudy skies, so it is worth keeping this in mind when planning your stay.
The biggest advantage of the hotel is its location. It is close to the bus stop, promenade and sea, with beautiful cliffs and lovely views. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which was also a plus.
The hotel is a good choice if you are mainly looking for a base to explore the area rather than a place to spend most of your time relaxing. The rooftop pool is nice and offers a beautiful sea view, but it can get quite crowded. The pool water was very cold during our stay. The bar was quite expensive and was not always open, as its availability depended on the weather.
Unfortunately, our room was a big disappointment. It was very small and dark, and despite booking as a couple, we were given two separate beds. The balcony overlooked a wall, and when we opened the balcony doors, the air conditioning noise was very loud and disturbing. The shower door was also difficult to open, and the bathroom looked rather dated.
Breakfast was not to my personal taste. The food was quite typical of a standard hotel buffet, with no live cooking station.
Overall, the hotel has a good location and friendly staff, making it a reasonable base for sightseeing. However, the small rooms, lack of a pleasant view, noise and breakfast quality mean that there is room for improvement. I would recommend it more to people who plan to spend most of their time exploring the area than to those looking for a comfortable hotel to relax in.
Great location, lovely staff and very comfortable rooms. I booked a Superior Room with a sea view, which I’d definitely recommend doing. If you want to use the pool, it’s as well to get there in the first hour, otherwise it could get quite busy.
we have just got back and before we went we was really put off by the bad reviews we saw and wondered what we was getting into for a holiday but it was totally different as it was very clean and great rooms with a superb shower. The staff were all very pleasant and the lady in reception who does the trips for Supreme travel is brilliant all at the same cost of others in the resort. The breakfast was as good as we have had abroad and probably the best sausages we have had and a great location too from the buses to the long seafront and ferry port and will definetly make a return trip there and it shows dont always read too much into poor reviews at least give yourself a chance to be proven wrong and we had a great hoilday.
We stayed at the Mayflower Hotel for 10 nights in August and, unfortunately, the experience fell well below what we expected.
Cleanliness was a major issue throughout our stay. The infinity pool was particularly disappointing, it was dirty and, in our opinion, didn’t actually resemble an infinity pool as advertised. The pool area was also extremely cramped, with nowhere near enough sunbeds for the number of guests. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the pool when there simply wasn’t enough space. The highlight of the rooftop pool was the amazing sunset.
Breakfast was another big disappointment, with flies all over the food and breakfast area, which was extremely off-putting and raised serious concerns about hygiene.
We also had ongoing problems with the lifts, which were regularly not working and, on occasions, got stuck. This was particularly frustrating when staying on a higher floor and in 40 degree heat!
The pool bar was also underwhelming, with limited service and not the standard we expected from a hotel of this type.
Unfortunately, the attitude of some of the reception staff made matters worse. We found them to be rude, unhelpful and, at times, seemingly completely uninterested when issues were raised.
We appreciate that August is a busy time of year, but that shouldn’t excuse basic cleanliness, maintenance, customer service and adequate facilities for paying guests.
Overall, we left feeling very disappointed with our 10-night stay. The hotel has potential, but there are clearly areas that need significant improvement. Based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again.
