Right at the heart of Qawra, right at the heart of the action, the Santana hotel has to be one of Malta's most desirable spots. With its light sea blue livery, the hotel signposts its location – just a minute from the seafront itself.
The Qawra seafront is a favourite spot for holidaymakers, with its many shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Beyond the promenade is another of its main attractions, the rocky beach, a haven for swimmers and sun bathers – and a great place to explore. Qawra is also home to some of Malta's most prized cultural sites too – no visit is complete without a trip to the historical towers and the church of St Francis of Assisi.
Even with such a perfect location, the Santana Hotel is more than just a base for exploring and enjoying Malta. It is, after all, a four star hotel with four star facilities to match.
There's a Wellness club offering over 80 health & beauty therapy treatments (at a fee ) and adding to the spa feel is a sauna and the opportunity for a massage (at a fee). The Santana Hotel has its own fitness room too, so you can maintain your customary fitness regime, plus a superb wellness centre with over plenty of treatments available.
After all of that, you can pick and choose one of the bars or restaurant's to while away a few pleasant hours in the evening.
Guests of the Santana Hotel often like to round things off by staying to enjoy the hotel's own schedule of entertainment – it does make for a very sociable end to the day.
Finally to bed. All rooms are comfortably furnished and feature a balcony – so you can look out at the twinkling lights of Qawra. All rooms feature an en suite bathroom, most have a bath/shower and some just have showers. Rooms also feature tip top amenities like satalite TV (with pay TV), radio and hairdryer. Another bonus – keeping the temperature just right is a cinch with the centrally controlled air conditioning. Rooms were fully renovated in 2019 including the bathrooms.
The Santana Hotel is as much a reason to choose Qawra for your Maltese holiday destination as the towers of the Knights of St John, or the beaches or the accessibility to other locations. Choosing the right hotel really is that important.
Prices in the calendar are based on the cheapest room(s) available and your search criteria
Just a minute from the picturesque seafront at Qawra, the Santana is at the heart of one of Malta's prime tourist areas with excellent shops and entertainment. Guest facilities include an indoor freshwater pool with jacuzzi, a sauna and massage (at a fee) and fitness room. Meals are served in the main dining room.
Although rated as a 4* I would put it as a high 3* to a low 4*, rooms are adequate and cleaned to a good standard, the selection of food is good considering the pandemic, however could be kept warmer, the bain marie temp should have been kept higher as food was tepid at best if you were not down at first service, the staff in the restaurant especially Anton were lovely and really polite and helpful, the one area that really lets them down is the bar service in the Zazen garden where it can take up to 20 mins for a waiter to take your order, then a further 10 minutes to receive them if they artive correct, withoutitems missing, this could easily be alleviated by actually opening the bar situated in the garden itself and 1 waiter to service the tables. I still have the rest of my stay to so will add another reveiw at the end of my stay.
Just home now after a wonderful week in Hotel Santana, Qawra. I have nothing but praise for the Hotel and all of its team working there. All staff were friendly, helpful and could not do enough for you...
Our room was perfect with a balcony overlooking the street. It was very comfortable with plenty of cupboard space. Air conditioning kept the room really cool. Beds were super comfortable. We were bed and breakfast and there was a huge selection for breakfast in the morning. The cleaning team, bar staff, reception staff in fact everyone we engaged with were really friendly and helpful. I cannot pick one negative thing to say about this Hotel. We will be back. Thank you all, you made our holiday in beautiful Malta.
We stayed here for a fortnight and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Our room was on the first floor in the East side of the building and was quiet at night. The staff were friendly and helpful in the bars and restaurants but were kept busy from morning to night...
Meals were good with plenty to chose from. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the bus station with services covering the whole island for only 2 euros a journey. We suggest buying a 12 journey card if you intend to use the buses a lot (they are all air conditioned). Reception staff can advise which bus to get to go anywhere. Entertainment in the hotel was a bit hit and miss. Sunday was really bad - the guy could not sing but Tuesday is really good - gets the whole crowd singing along. All in all a really good place to stay but more adults only than family hotel.
I stayed at The Santana for 15 nights aug/sept. I had a comfort room on the 5th floor, lovely room, nice decor, comfy bed, exceptional bathroom and all kept lovely and clean throughout my stay. The views aren’t brilliant but, if you want a sea view room, pay the extortionate prices at the sea front hotels! To put into context, I was talking to a lovely couple who were staying at one of the “exclusive” sea front hotels, I paid just over £1000 inc flights/transfer etc for my 15 nights at the Santana all inclusive, ate at the hotel almost every meal and enjoyed the meals, not a vast selection but, everything cooked really well, the pool bar does lovely wraps, baguettes and toasted sandwiches and, as a person who suffers if food is not up to standard, I did not suffer the dreaded funny tummy at all...
The couple I was talking to paid £3500 for 15 nights at the “exclusive” sea front hotel and, unfortunately, we’re not able to eat any of the food at their hotel!! Says it all really!! The entertainment at The Santana is not very good, Jamie on a Tuesday night is brilliant, Vince is ok too, but the others, hmmm I’ll say no more 😂
The staff, what can I say, receptionists were very pleasant and helpful, a credit to the hotel. The bar staff, servers…flipping amazing!!! Sofi, Lilla, Beata, Mina, Reni, Sam, Boyan and Prabish…You all need a huge pay rise 😘 So friendly, so hard working, and, the patience of a saint with some guests 😂 Fantastic, each and every one of you, thank you for making my holiday so enjoyable.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, 10 mins walk to the seafront, 5 mins to the main bus station, shops and bars all around. Oh, and the guy across the road, sat with a car selling trips, can’t recommend him enough for excursions! Had a brilliant day trip to Gozo and The Blue Lagoon off him, and the hop on hop off open top bus tour!
I will definitely be returning to the Santana, in all honesty, probably one of the best holidays I’ve had…From the warm welcome off the staff and, so many lovely guests who never let me sit alone…I thank you all 😘😘
Just started our second week at this hotel and no complaints. Location is great most bars and restaurants are in walking distance. We are all inclusive and yes the food can be a bit boring but you will never go hungry. Hotel is very clean and rooms are cleaned daily. The pool is on the roof and there are allway sunbeds available...
All in all I would recommend this hotel maybe not for families as there not much for the kids. Looking forward to second week.
