Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Great hotel, excellent location. Very clean and the staff were all very friendly. Good breakfast, and plenty of choice for food. On reading prior reviews we were a little concerned about noise , however we did not experience any problems with noise either from building work nearby or from adjoining rooms. We were in room 602 and had a view over the city, and a nice balcony. Hairdryer in bathroom was very good for a hotel, and shower gel provided, not a lot of hangers in wardrobe. Tea and coffee in room but no milk, but we asked for some at reception and were given fresh milk in a cup to put in our fridge. Overall a really good hotel and would recommend.
Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience staying here. Hotel very modern but close up little things on the Finnish let it down, as if rushed on completion. The noise from the building work next door was constant as if they were removing concrete with a machine On top of that there is no sound proof between the floor above as solid concrete ceiling, so someone in heels constantly walking around, sound driving you mad, also hear next room having argument one night. Couldn’t use so called balcony to noisy. Room only cleaned late in afternoon so when came back for rest had to say leave it as we’re totally worn out, obviously doing rooms where people left to get ready first, so need more staff. On the whole glad to be home,
Cockroaches. Yuk. I hate them. Panicking in case they get in our luggage. Horns honking day and night outside. The rooms have concrete ceilings so are like echo chambers, every movement or conversation over 3 floors can be heard. We asked for a quiet room. As there was building works. The hammer drill going for two hours yesterday sounded like a bad tempered woodpecker. Apparently work has been going on for some time and due to continue at least another year. Reception swore blind she could barely hear it. If this is a quiet room got help the rest. There is a balcony which is laughable. There has been a metre square hole cut into the wall near the ceiling. We stretched up to take a photo. Too high to look out of. Others just have the wall. There are not balconies.
This is the second time we have stayed here and I have to say we are very disappointed! There is a huge building site at the back of the hotel. (Please see pics for just how close) 5.30 in the morning the workmen started hammering and sawing! We went to reception to complain to be told they had complained about them several times but there is nothing they can do! Now I understand they can’t control builders on a site that’s nothing to do with them but it doesn’t change the fact that this site has obviously been there for months and not just appeared! They could be letting customers know that noise may be an issue either before they arrive or when they check in to give them the option of whether to stay there or not! We were informed that they aren’t supposed to start making noise until 7am but this is still early for those wishing to relax on holiday. Also the cleaning service turned up at 3pm when we had come back to the room for a rest which means our room didn’t get cleaned and we were missing milk from the tea and coffee facilities.
The hotel itself is great - the rooms are spotless, spacious and stylish, whilst being comfortable and practical. All the necessities were there - plugs in sensible places, tea and coffee making facility, fridge, safe, good choice of TV channels, bathroom toiletries etc. Bathroom was spacious and accessible for anyone with mobility issues too.
It's only a few minutes walk from the main bus stops in Sliema (taking about 15-20 mins to Valletta) taking you all over the island, as well asthe marina, including ferries to Valletta and boat trips.
There are so many excellent restaurants, bars and cafes within easy walking distance, as well as shops, and an easy walk to pool bars on the promenade.
The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and made the stay easy.
Breakfast was continental and as expected - I went down right at the end every day and there was always plenty to choose from still.
Yes, there is currently building work close by, but the earliest it started in the week that I was there was around 9.30am, and it was finished before I returned every evening, so didn't impact me at all.
Would definitely stay there gain as it was so accessible and convenient, and would 100% recommend.
