Bayview Hotel and Spa

Malta and Gozo, Europe
Sliema

Choose the Bayview Hotel and you'll enjoy the very best that Sliema has to offer. Set on the bustling promenade, it's the point where old and new Malta meet. Steeped in the history of the area, the Bayview Hotel overlooks the Sliema fortifications and the vibrant Marsamxetto harbour. It also looks out over the capital, Valletta, with its palace and palazzo (dating back to the sixteenth century).

But if it's the best of contemporary Malta that you want, you'll find it here too. The promenade is the hub. Here there are shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, and easy access to the glittering Mediterranean, and a whole host of watersports activities.

The Bayview Hotel is your window on the very best that Malta has to offer:

To really enjoy your holiday to the full, you need the right location, great facilities and real comfort too; fortunately the Bayview Hotel comes up trumps in all respects.

You may be tempted by a stunning seaview room; they're available for a small supplement. Don't worry if you don't get one – each room has its own balcony –many with wonderful views of their own –and they're the perfect place to sit back in the early morning sun, or enjoy a pre-dinner drink.

The twin rooms feature air conditioning (time restricted) as well as direct dial telephone, satellite television, tea/coffee making facilities, and optional safe deposit box. For your added convenience, the Bayview Hotel has a round-the-clock reception service too. There are a range of room updgrades available at a supplement. All rooms feature a walk-in shower.

And that's just the start. As well as there being plenty to do outside the hotel, there's plenty to do inside: there is a fitness room and sauna, outdoor pool and massage available at a fee.

Sliema mixes the best of historic Malta with everything you expect from a smart, contemporary Maltese resort. And the Bayview Hotel, with its host of facilities and its reputation for comfortable living is the smart, contemporary choice.

Very nice hotel in a perfect location

We had a lovely 4 night stay. In October the staff were very friendly. They were very helpful with information, taxis, trips. They upgraded us to stay in an apartment with a lovely harbour view The location is perfect for walking Sliema and access to boats and buses from just across the road

Great place in perfect position

Great position on the bay between Sliema and Valletta. Buses right outside and ferry 10 mins walk along the quay. Very friendly welcome with lots of information from reception. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of options. Particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit and fruit tea bags. Room was clean and spacious with a balcony with chairs. Did not get sun but we were at back of building. TV and Wi-Fi in room was excellent. Large shower and rooms cleaned daily. Sun deck was lovely with great views of the bay . Outside pool was cool but it was November.. Jacuzzi and inside pool and sauna available with towels at small bar. Cash or card payment. The lounge had “Happy Day “ of buy 2 Alcoholic drinks and receive 3. Nice in the evening with cocktails. Raj was marvellous, checking all was good. 5 Large screen TVs with sports channels which my husband enjoyed. The reception staff were very helpful especially Ayesha and Nicola. They have a luggage room which is handy if you arrive early or leave late. We ate out and tried 2 of the 3 restaurants attached to the hotel. Very nice. We will definitely return in the future. We felt welcome and the staff were brilliant .

First time in Malta

We've just returned from a week in the Bayview in Sliema. We paid for a sea view and had a room overlooking the bay. The road in front of the hotel is very busy all day so sitting on the balcony wasn't as relaxing but excellent for people watching! Buses stop outside so that's a bonus. Unfortunately the heavy traffic can make bus trips very long but the aircon helps. The reception staff are very polite and friendly and made us feel welcome. A key to the safe is 10 euros but they return it when you check out. Our room was a reasonable size although the bathroom was a bit on the small side. Toiletries are basic but I always pack my own so didn't care. The hairdryer was broken so I mentioned it to the receptionist on our way out and it was replaced early the next day by a very polite maintenance man. Our towels weren't changed but maybe we should have mentioned it as most hotels say they change them if they're left on the floor. There was no notice in our room, maybe we should have asked. The breakfast room is busy after about 8.30 so if you don't want to wait for a table get up early. Staff are friendly and efficient and the choice, although not vast, is adequate. Fastest toaster ever!!! The restaurants in front of the hotels are very noisy and the food is is a bit 'fast food' but that's personal preference. SuzieQ bar attached to (but not part of) the hotel is friendly and good for a nightcap or light meal. We found Il Mirell restaurant in one of the side streets as you walk up the main street is very good and Lady Di's bar is an old fashioned pub but offers a traditional meal and good beer. We had a lovely week but won't be returning as we found the area way too loud and not our usual type of location but the hotel is fine. Don't be put off by poor reviews as we're pretty fussy but understand it's only cheap and cheerful not a luxury 5 star hotel.

Great location

This was our first trip to Malta and we picked this hotel because it was in a central position. We arrived before check in and were able to use the luggage lockers and went out for a look around the town. Our room was at the back and while the view was of other balconies the room itself was fine. Our balcony was quite large but never got the sun. The room was very modern with a new bathroom. Unfortunately the shower leaked onto the floor which was not a problem for us but the owners should do something about it. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the room was very quiet at night. Great night's sleep. The rooftop pool was lovely and the views from the terrace were amazing. It was handy there was a bar by the pool but it was pricey. We didn't use the indoor pool but it looked clean and was popular with other guests. We booked half board and we found the breakfast didn't change much. They ran out of cutlery one morning so our food went cold while we struggled with a spoon while we waited. They ran out of yogurts too and didn't bring out any more. There were always free tables even when it was very busy. It could get very noisy and I think the owners should ban the use of mobile phones and tablets by youths unless they have earphones in. The dinner menu did vary and the food was good with a good choice. My daughter is vegan and managed to find something at every dinner but not always at breakfast. The one thing about the evening meal that was annoying was that the only drink on offer was water. I have always been offered wine or nice soft drinks in other hotels so this seemed a bit odd to me. We didn't use the main bar instead opting to go out for drinks. There are loads of bars and restaurants close to the hotel and plenty of shops. The hotel is in a great location and we were able to access buses and ferries with ease although buses to the market on a Sunday are busy. We had a great holiday but only give 4 stars because the reception staff were not very helpful. We asked for a twin room but were given a double and while this was remedied very quickly our safe was very difficult to open and it took 3 days before we could use it so had to carry everything about with us. The lifts were inadequate and the staircase was very narrow but the hotel was not full so it would be more of a problem during the summer months.

Lovely stay at this super hotel.

Had a lovely few days celebrating a friends birthday. The hotel is lovely. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. We happened to speak to the general manager at breakfast one morning and mentioned our friends special birthday as the reason for being in Malta. When we arrived back at the hotel from a day out both our rooms had been decorated with petals and balloons. There was a bottle of wine and glasses in both rooms. It really made it so special. The rooms in the hotel were lovely and clean. We booked sea view rooms and the view was stunning. Although the hotel is on a busy road, we didnt hear a sound. The beds are so comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with hot and cold food to suit every taste. The bread rolls were so fresh. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again. Thank you to all the lovely staff.
