Classic elegance, rich furnishings and a unique, boutique style elevates the Victoria Hotel in Sliema to one of Malta's finest places to stay. It has a timeless elegance to it, and a traditional service ethic too, so you'll always be very well received and impeccably looked after.
Located in an elevated position on a hill in the heart of Sliema – one of the favourite destinations for holidaymakers – the Victoria Hotel is only a short distance to the seafront promenade – this is where Sliema lives and breathes – in its spectacular coastline, its array of shops and entertainments, and its friendly people.
As well as giving you the opportunity to explore Sliema, and the rich cultural heritage of the nearby capital, Valetta, the Victoria Hotel offers you every opportunity to relax. Benefiting from a quiet location and superb spa facilities, this is somewhere you can really take things easy.
Every care has been taken to make the Victoria Hotel spa as enticing and as luxurious as possible. Spread over two floors, its facilities include a freshwater indoor pool and an outdoor pool, as well as sun terraces, saunas, steam room and treatment rooms offering a wide range of holistic wellbeing treatments. You have no excuse not to feel utterly relaxed.
The same attention is given to guest's rooms at the Victoria Hotel. They are all fully air conditioned and come with extensive facilities to help you feel at home, including satellite TV and radio, direct dial phone, minibar and Wi-Fi is available at a fee. Rooms are dressed in classic Mediterranean blue or vintage mahogany and all feature en suite bathrooms too. Please enquire if you are interested in upgrading to a balcony room or suite.
Even the restaurant menus are geared to your wellbeing, with a new healthy eating option available.
At the end of the day we do recommend a visit to the intimate Penny Black Bar, to luxuriate in the exquisite armchairs and while away the evening. Perfection! Like Sliema, the Victoria Hotel manages to give you a little bit of both sides of Malta. In its refined setting and furnishings, you get a taste of the great devotion to hospitality and a hint of the past; while its facilities bring you right up-to-date.

The Victoria Hotel is a superior 4-star hotel, located in quiet peaceful surroundings, situated in the heart of Sliema and a few minutes walk from the popular and picturesque seafront promenade.
Sliema offers excellent shopping, open air cafeterias, restaurant and bars and is only fifteen minutes drive away from Valletta.
Another fantastic stay at the Victoria Hotel.A wonderful greeting from Charles and his courteous and helpful reception team. Service throughout the hotel was first class. We were so pleased to see the hotel busy again after a very difficult two years. We look forward to our next visit.
Having spent 12 days on an HB+ recently (November 2021), we have once again been pampered with the high quality service, location and facilities afforded by AX-Hotels Malta. The location is very central in cosmopolitan Sliema with easy access to a seaside promenade and convenient direct public transport to most areas of interest in Malta. There is also an abundance of dining outlets within easy reach although being on an HB+ board basis, we were spoilt by the daily variety of 5-course dinners served at the sister Palace Hotel nearby...
Indeed throughout the 12-day stay we were never served a repeat dinner menu and there was always a new and different selection of courses served. Particular attention was also paid to ensuring COVID-safety was in place at all times. But above all, it was the professional and friendly commitment of staff at all levels to the product they deliver that proved impressive and to be applauded. We have now been regular clients staying at this group of hotels, and The Victoria in particular, for over five years and we would definitely recommend this hotel without any reservation. What a fantastic Hotel. We only booked B+B but for 10 days. The location is prefect...
7 mins walk to the beach front with all the facilities you are going to need for your stay in Malta. We only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was excellent and that was backed up by wonderful and friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend this hotel and it’s outstanding value for money. My only regret is not getting the incredibly helpful mans name who manned reception as I would like to thank him personally on here. What a charming and pleasant person.
We have just returned from Visit 50 to The Victoria Hotel in Sliema. Unlike Visit 49 breakfast is now being taken in The Copperfield restaurant rather than in the sister hotel The Palace next door. Instead of assisted buffet guests serve themselves, and are provided with plastic gloves to wear when using the serving utensils...
May sound a bit of odd but is a necessary requirement because of Covid and in the main is adhered to by guests but for the odd few who either forget to put them on or could not be bothered. Breakfast itself was the usual wide variety of excellent food choices. Dinner is still being taken in The Palace and is assisted buffet. I think this is because of Covid neither hotel is full and so does not warrant having two restaurants open in the evening for the number of guests having dinner so the 4 star Victoria guests are having dinner in the 5 star Palace. A very sensible idea. The staff of both hotels are excellent and will do their absolute best to ensure guests have a wonderful stay.
We would like to thank the manager and all the other staff we know and know us for a truly memorable 50th visit.
One of the most important aspects of hotel stays for me is the sleep quality which unfortunately didn't find at this hotel despite being a four star. The mattresses are not hotel quality (in my opinion) as it felt like sinking in whenever laying on it. The bed is composed of two beds adjoined however no overall full size mattress is placed on top leaving a gap between the two beds which is not comfortable...
The sheets felt worn or simply substandard quality- same goes to the bath towels in terms of size and quality. The A/C in the room is also very loud- first night in I had to simply turn it off. And finally, the room soundproofing which is also not up to scratch. Our wake up call was usually housekeeping (i guess) on the seventh floor moving some furniture. The room was spacious and kept well however I was not impressed by the cleaning quality either, The sliding doors glass leading to the balcony was dirty, had a couple of drinks that we ordered from the bar downstairs in our room remained in the balcony (consumed) for the duration of the stay which implies that the balcony was not cleaned at all. On my last day I also discovered a receipt under my bed dated beginning of October (my stay was end Oct- beginning of Nov).
The breakfast was ok but again I had the feeling that its all being run cheaply. No fresh juice options- lesser quality chocolate spread- no lactose free milk options. I however find the addition of Maltese traditional items excellent such as pastizzi/qassatat and peppered goat cheese.
Hotel has an underground car park which is a must if you have a rental and staying in Sliema as street parking is a nightmare. Hotel location is also in a good location and very close to the Sliema promenade and shops.
Myself, I didn't had the time to check the rest of the hotel amenities which seemed to be fine. The staff are friendly and very helpful and we had a very smooth checkin.
