The Victoria Hotel is a superior 4-star hotel, located in quiet peaceful surroundings, situated in the heart of Sliema and a few minutes walk from the popular and picturesque seafront promenade.

Very disappointed in this hotel. On first impressions it's first class and I have only heard good news about it so I thought we would treat ourselves as we were only going for a week. We usually stay longer in lower priced hotels. However obviously standards have dropped as I was not impressed by many aspects of my stay. First impressions of our standard room were very positive as it was large and stylish however I have stayed in many lower budget and lower star hotels on the maltese islands for many years and have never had such a poor quality mattress, it was lumpy and very sweaty and covered by a very thin, equally sweaty mattress protector and a poor quality thin sheet. The pillows were lumpy and poor quality and I made the mistake of looking under the pillow covers. My pillows had no pillow protectors on and were covered in sweat and stains. It made me feel a bit sick. Nearly every towel that we had was holey, worn and small. The toilet paper was practically see through and I have never seen that poor quality used in any of the hotels before. The kettle was cheap and leaked when you poured it out. And the 4 little sachets of nescafe coffee and a few teabags was uninspired ,again compared to cheaper hotels in sliema. The other main disappointment was the breakfast. We ended up not going 3 times. We got there early everytime, just after 7am and again first impressions it was amazing, almost too much choice. But what's the point of all that food when a lot of it is poor quality, tasteless or cold when it should be hot. Even the plates for the hot food were cold. The roll I tryed was stale and the eggs and sausages cold. There were lots of little pastries that went untouched but no croissants that many people were looking for. The coffee and juice were not very nice. I have to say that the staff are all very smart, professional and friendly except for the lad on nights. It is a beautiful hotel in an excellent position and has a lovely, fairly priced shop inside but unfortunately we found it doesn't live up to its past reputations and many things didn’t compare favourably to more basic hotels near by.
Amazing hotel, clean and very comfortable rooms, also very spacious. Food was very good and the staff couldn't have been anymore helpful. Very friendly and reliable. Location is great. 10 min walk to the ferry terminal, buses and town centre. Will most definitely be returning.
Visit 58 done and dusted. The hotel has been adding to its green eco-friendliness, there have always been signs in the bathrooms which reminds guests to think about if the towels need to be changed daily or not, and earlier this year they changed from plastic bottles of water in the rooms to a large glass carafe which are refilled by the staff daily from extremely large filtered water bottles. Between July & returning in November the shower gel, shampoo, hand wash soap & body lotion are now all contained in refillable pump bottles held in a fixed wall holder by the sink & over the bath, these are refilled when required by the room attendant, previously they were in small plastic single use bottles, thrown away when empty, this is an excellent idea by the AX Group to cut down on plastic waste. We are also aware that in the New Year AX The Victoria Hotel are going to be changing the mattresses, curtains and pelmets on a rolling programme in all rooms; hopefully this will be completed by Visit 59 in March 2024. Breakfast is still served in the Copperfield restaurant with guests on half-board being served dinner in the Tabloid restaurant in the adjoining 5* sister hotel AX The Palace.
We had a good stay at the Hotel. This was our first time in Malta and our experience was good. At the hotel we were helped well by a friendly girl from the Netherlands. She told us that she was doing an internship at the hotel and she knew how to tell and explain everything to us with a big smile! We really liked this because we didn't know much about Malta yet. Furthermore, the rooms were fine and the breakfast was very extensive. We will definitely come back.
Good service and a good hotel, indisputably. It’s just the finer details that are missing that stop this being a 5 out of 5. Staff do as you ask, great but a real service culture would have the staff on the front foot anticipating and expecting requests? Smiles will get you a long way but not the missing star.
