Amazing service

We stayed for the week over the easter holidays and had a great time, the hotel was of a really high standard and the view from our room over the med was beautiful

We stayed all inclusive and both my partner and daughter need gluten free food which we were slightly worried about before we came, however we shouldn’t of been as we spoke to a lady called Biljana in the menhir restaurant and she couldn’t have been more accommodating for her getting gluten free bread, cake and cereal sorted, we were so grateful as it made life a little easier for us, we thought the service by her and all in the restaurant was amazing and above and beyond what we expected

Great stay at the hotel during this Easter break

Family stay at Hotel Dolmen for 5 days during Easter break was absolutely fantastic. The room given to us was spacious, clean and had picturesque views. The balcony with sea facing views was worth it and received exactly what we had booked for...

Ours was breakfast inclusive and have to say that staff at Menhir was absolutely fantastic, so friendly, so attentive and so helpful. The breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choices. There was nothing that you could ask for and it wasn’t there. Absolutely amazing!!! Cafe Delos was also very good. The food was delicious too. Our room & bathroom was cleaned everyday, towels were changed everyday. All I had to do was just let the reception know before we left the hotel for our day’s outing, which was absolutely no problem. The staff at the reception were very polite and professional. All in all , we were looked after and we had a great stay at Hotel Dolmen. We look forward to stay again in future. Thank you to all staff at Hotel Dolmen.

Dolmen disappointment

Review by H_sash Brussels, Belgium

I have a question: how did Dolmen obtain the 4 stars and how do they manage to still keep those?

During our lovely holidays in Malta we stayed in 3 different hotels: 3*, 4* (Dolmen) and 5* stars. Luckily only 2 nights at Dolmen. This hotel hardly deserved even 2 stars...

And I am being nice.

Upon arrival we received an old tiny room with a pathetic view. In this room the curtains won't open and the sink won't drain. So we requested a change. The second room seemed to be less worn. We accepted it. We came over to enjoy and not to complain.

Although it was hard not to admit that:

  • shower gel and shampoo provided by Dolmen were of such poor quality and frightening color (intense blue) we did not dare to use.
  • in both bathrooms we found long black hair upon arrival.

We arrived at breakfast before 8.00 on 11.04.2022 but it was already as busy as at Malta Airport. Not easy to get a free table.

Eggs were undercooked. I found a piece of wood (a stick approximately 4 cm long) in my omelette with vegetables. We took a photo of this disovery and could publish it if necessary.

Coffee from their machines was SO bad there are no words to describe. I guess I can obtain such a liquid when washing my coffee cups.

Some positives and the reason why we gave Dolmen 2 points instead of zero:

  • Indoor pool is really nice, great for kids
  • Dolmen has its own beach and the sea view is just lovely

Now back to negative. Very negative: On Monday evening 11.04 2022 we found a big fat brown cockroach walking out of our bathroom.

This ruined our stay. I don't want to bring any cockroaches back home in my luggage.

The Recetion suggested to desinfect the room. With us sleeping there afterwards. Who would accept this? Then they suggested a room change: another worn out room just 3 rooms further from the infected one. I insisted on a change further. We got a room in the new block 2 floors higher. With late checkout (13 h instead of 12h).

However at 12h the room card got disactivated. During that "extra" hour 3 (!!!) different persons of Dolmen came in to ask when we were leaving. Akward.

You can't sit at the reception for 1 minute without being pushed to consume. We had to wait at the reception several minutes with that cockroach story and waiters constantly asked us to order drinks.

By the way, we took a photo of the cockroach. But I prefer not to publish it unless requested. I would prefer to forget all that Dolmen experience.

Feeling let down.

Review by rayg973 Leigh, United Kingdom

We arrived for a 4 night break only to find all outdoor pools closed. No kids club activities, no outdoor bar. So disappointing...

I asked at reception when the pool was going to be open only to be told it was nothing to do with her? I was advised the indoor pool was available. I can go to an indoor pool at my local leisure centre anytime and not what I travelled to Malta for! The food was good in the buffet restaurant and plenty of choice.
