Having been fortunate enough to have had a few holidays during covid I feel in a position to judge protocols etc during these times. Check in was informative we were early but we were advised to pop back after lunch to see if the room was ready. Possibly our only major gripe was my husband had requested twice for a high floor and we were allocated a level 2 meaning no privacy stepping out as everyone in the bar could see u...
We should have said but after traveling from 3 am we just wanted a kip. Wouldnt bother paying for a view there's very few rooms u can see anything when your sitting down due to a high wall. Rooms are lovely very spacious and immaculately clean. People moaning about the hanging rail really need to get a grip seriously is that all you can complain about. We have spent most of our days on the rooftop beautiful views always able to get a bed and the guys at the bar always polite and efficient. There are shaded areas if you want that but due to the wind being 10 flights up no parasols. Plenty at the main pool. It is a pain in the bum booking your meals but u do get an hours window and it is what it is certainly did let us spoil our time. Book your speciality restaurants early we managed to book all 3. Food is actually really good a nice mixture and queues can form but they are very reactive so you won't be waiting long. We enjoy eating out and would definitely recommend the Surf and Turf if you want a special meal. Water station is a brilliant concept. We brought water bottles to fill up so deffo no complaints here. Cocktails on the roof bar are amazing and anyone who says they are watered down need to speak to my hangover I suffered after a night of consuming 'Infinitys' lol . All in all the hotel is doing its best in very difficult times and would we come back? Yes we would if the price was right.
A fantastic centrally located hotel from which to explore the islands. Great facilities (pools, spas, rooftop bar and pool) choice of restaurants etc and very friendly staff. Close to some great shops with the beach across the road...
Superb Hotel We have just returned from the San Antonio after a wonderful holiday , the first after lockdown and can honestly say it was the most relaxing experience! I had read comments from previous patrons which were less than complimentary and could have been put off I just wonder if these people had actually been staying at this hotel. The staff in every area of the hotel were pleasant ,efficient and helpful. The systems they have in place for Covid regulations are really impressive not least of all the lift system and the strict adherence to masks snd sanitising hands !! Rooms are beautiful, pristine clean and kept that way by a great team of men snd women who work tirelessly (in the stifling heat) to keep them that way . We had one maintenance issue(wardrobe rail loose) which was dealt with instantly! The main issues on previous reviews seemed to be re the food...
The main buffet had a wealth of choice to suit all tastes salads were varied each day hot buffet had choice of meats Fish snd Vegetarian different types of potato each day and (maybe unfortunately?) their chips were delicious xx also choice of 3 other restaurants to dine around during you stay Salia Sharing experience was my favourite!! All the facilities, pool areas Roof Deck (adult only ) and bars were great and plenty of sun beds Staff in all these areas were attentive snd friendly Riof Deck was my favourite for relaxing !Everywhere there was food or drink the staff served you and were so pleasant and friendly I could go on but finally I would like to compliment the Animation snd Entertainment Teams Without doubt the best of any hotel we have stayed in Singers snd Dancers SUPERB!!! I would like to thank Alba and Mandy on reception for their attention Jollyvie and MaryJane in Gueliz Restaurant Hannan and ll the cleaning staff on Fifth floor —-As well as the management who run this super hotel!! Look forward to our next visit
I will start with the one positive the coffee house Marco serve very good cakes and hot drinks with good service. Now for the negative. Every restaurant you need to book into that means breakfast, lunch and dinner . You have to manually put in name , how many seating , time , date of arrival, date of departure room number the on several occasions it would crash so I estimated 2 hours of time of a holiday messing around trying to book a table. Gueliz restaurant (buffet) breakfast queue for Tea sometimes 15 deep served in small cups then queue for toast i once counted 20 in queue then queue for eggs then bacon 🥓 nevertheless all cold by the time you get to eat it even cold and pre cooked before you receive it . This is the same procedure for lunch and dinner cold and greasy food , when I was young my mother would save the wasted food for the pig man but I don’t think he would have taken this . Tagine Indian restaurant again buffet again you have to queue then when served it’s just slopped onto your plate dishes all mixed together unbelievable mess on the plate. Yushan Chinese restaurant buffet the same as the Tagine food just slopped onto the plate and different food mixed . Spring roll and prawn crackers and spare ribs all the covered with chilli sauce...
Tried the sweet and sour but this tasted of vinegar. Salia the only restaurant that serves you but you only chose the main course the others they tell you what you are eating although this was the best restaurant by a country mile . But the steak was tuff with greasy hard fat running though it . The wife and I tried all the restaurants once but never again. Entertainment is a joke Animation team do silly games during the day around the lower swimming pool with music so loud you can not hear yourself think . One day my wife ask one of the team to turn the music down please ( the boy with plaits ) and received nothing but abuse in return. When I spoke to his manager I ask why when the majority of quest were 50 years old plus why were they playing club music and so loud .the lower swimming pool is about 25 meters long going from 1ft to 2ft 6 inches deep so impossible to swim . There is a sign that says no inflatable or smoking around the pool but both were happing .plenty of sun shades and always possible to get a sunbed . The top swimming pool on the 10th floor were there is very little sun shade if any and was told there is a mad rush in the morning at 8.50 to get a bed . The swimming pool itself is only about 4ft deep with the steps into the pool very slippery and dangerous one very lose we’re the fixing have worked lose . No life guard on any pool . We used to go to the top bar on the 10th floor for a drink about 7pm . All the drinks in all the bars were of very cheap local brand and I mean very cheap and weak . The entertainment in the evening was joke if you didn’t laugh you would cry most evening it was the Animation team trying to dance and sing , the singing sounded like a cat crying . On our first night they did have a singer with a quitar and key board who was brilliant with all the quests singing and some dancing but that was the only night out of 14 . The bedroom had no wardrobe only a hanging real no dressing table or mirror. the air conditioning is so weak it’s not worth putting on bathroom is large with a good shower on 4 occasions no trowels were left we had to phone for some . Sorry but all this review is totally honest and truthful and would not even consider returning to this hotel
Amenities of the hotel warrant it’s 4 star status however it is difficult to provide 4 star quality when catering buffet food for an all inclusive package. We found that there was plenty of choice but that service felt very rushed with staff often clearing plates from your table before you had time to finish your meal. Staff were also so keen to serve as many people as possible in the shortest period of time but often got our orders wrong because they didn’t listen, we often gave up trying to correct our orders...
I appreciate it’s difficult when wearing masks but even after repeating orders they often went wrong. The alcohol drinks often tasted watered down or inferior quality though having been all inclusive before this wasn’t a surprise. The wine we found undrinkable and we ware disappointed when spirits were served in a beaker and the beer served was always less than half pint. I appreciate non glass cups were for health and safety reasons around the pool but perhaps plastic glasses would have been more appropriate as it felt like you were drinking from children’s cups. Ideally there should be a notice advising customers that the pool bar shuts at 6 until 6.30 rather than allow customers to queue and then turn them away at 1 minute past 6. Unfortunately we ate and drank out of the hotel quite often which increased the cost of our holiday and negated the purpose of paying an all inclusive price. Was particularly impressed with the gym, pools and spa facilities but entertainment was pretty uninspiring. Our room was a good size and even though we had an inland facing view we could still see the sea from our balcony. Staff were always friendly and accommodating however, If you are a foodie then obviously this isn’t the hotel for you but ideal for families provided they are not fussy what they drink. All in all we had an enjoyable stay, Malta was beautiful and the hotel is in a good place to explore being no more than a 2 minute walk from the bus station which connects you with most of the island for 2 euros for any 2 hour trip. It’s close to the beach and beach clubs and plenty of bars and restaurants which you will most likely frequent if you prefer a less rushed dining experience.
