Firstly the staff are very nice and the location is perfect. Doing a review because this is billed as a 5 star and it is simply not that, I don’t know who gave that accreditation, but it’s misguided. The breakfast is cramped, no outside terrace when we were there, maybe it will be put back at some point, breakfast is ok, nothing special. The first room we were put in was ok, they do smell a bit but ok, they are a bit faded and a bit silly, no doors on the bathrooms, style over practically. Our aircon stopped and it was blistering heat, we were offered another room but that really smelt bad and it had an upstairs bed, bathroom downstairs, daft. We waited until another room was found and that was ok, but they are so dark and no door on the bathroom again, smelt bad but they bought some reed difusers which masked it a bit. We weren’t staying that long so we managed, safe stopped working but someone came and repaired that. There is only a small residents area and on our last day it was commandeered for a wedding as was the roof bar, there is a very small plunge pool, that’s all. If you go expecting 3 star, nice staff and a great location it’s fine, but don’t expect anything else and it’s not cheap either.
Mohammad Tarik and the reception staff were always so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend 😊
Excellent hotel, I loved the staying here, great stuff ❤️ great thanks for Mohammad Tarik.
A beautiful building in fantastic location. Staff were all excellent and helpful. Rooftop bar was lovely with great cocktails and staff (special mention to the lovely Samuel). The pool is, by necessity, small (plunge pool) but particularly welcome after a hot day out. Only criticism is that the rooms were not particularly well designed (a minor irritation) and more 4* in feel but other than that I would highly recommend
This is a stunning hotel with lots to recommend. The decor is stunning with the fountain in the foyer, as well as all the stylish paper fashion pieces of art on several floors. We stayed in a deluxe room complete with private sauna, which was absolutely lovely. The rooftop bar is perfect for evening aperitif with stunning views of Valleta and the Mediterranean Sea, accompanied by stylish music, as well as a small swimming pool. All of the staff were impeccable - everyone went above and beyond to make our stay as good as possible. We loved Grain Street restaurant for both breakfast & dinner, with a high quality selection of food and wines, plus the open air atmosphere of the bustling Merchants Street with the sea view at the end of it all. The only flaw was UnderGrain, the surprisingly disappointing Michelin Star restaurant on the underground floor of the hotel- however, on citing several complaints with the food, the hotel manager completely refunded our bill and took the issue very seriously. Overall, this hotel is a beautiful oasis to stay in Malta’s capital and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
