- Castille Hotel Malta

This nice hotel is set right in the heart of Malta’s capital city, Valletta, with a wide range of entertainment, dining and sightseeing options nearby. This former house of an influential family of the city offers breath-taking views to the fortifications of the Grand Harbour and the island’s mainland. Guest rooms are appointed in a charming style and include period furniture and modern amenities such as free wireless Internet connection. Moreover, some of them have real wooden floors and a traditional wooden Maltese balcony. The most demanding guests will also take advantage of the two on-site restaurants available, one of them in the former basement with a cosy atmosphere and the other one occupying a nice terrace.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Had a great stay in the heart of Valletta, great breakfast on the 5th floor terrace overlooking the grand harbour. Staff mostly female where fantastic including Claudia, friendly and helpful. People complain about this hotel but you get a great experience at a very reasonable price, if you must have everything perfect pay double.
The good about this hotel is the location and the friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean.
I was quite disappointed, because I expected more. My fault that I didn't read reviews and photos before. The hotel is very old, it needs immediately renovation. Spots on the wall, mold spots in the room. The tv controller half broken . The hair dryer didn't work. The bed was awful, matress in very bad conditions, you could feel the springs and the noise that comes from the mattress is awful. Low pressure of water ( I was in 1st floor ). The breakfast was above from ok, poor breakfast.
Totally not worth 100€ per night.
Location is great and staff are friendly. Unfortunately, the hotel itself falls well below the standards of a 3*. Mould in bedroom and bathroom, broken window panes, holes in bedding. Advertised facilities (sitting room and television room) were not available. A pigeon entered the indoor breakfast area daily where buffet food was openly on display. It's a shame as the hotel could be fantastic given it location and history.
Had a recent holiday through Thomas Cook to this hotel. Hotel facilities are not as described on Thomas Cook or Hotel website & hotel room not as booked & full of mould. Admittedly Thomas Cook arranged for our room to be changed when the hotel wouldn’t act locally. Reviews post our booking describe similar experiences. Hotel is clearly undergoing extensive & significant refurb and is in a fantastic location but felt very let down by both hotel & travel agent that our decision was not based on what was advertised
The location is outstanding. You’re central to everything. Additionally, it’s a straight walk up from the bus station & a funicular ride down to the ferries.
The staff is wonderful. They were all very helpful, knowledgeable & friendly.
As others have said, the rooms are dated. However, my room served its purpose. It was a decent size & had a fridge. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping everything clean. The tub was old, but there was always hot water & good pressure.
There is A/C, but it’s not that easy to work. It’s from another time. You can see the buttons on the wall in the pic I attached. It just came on super cold. I couldn’t adjust the temp.
Breakfast was good. It was the same every day, but that worked for me. A few things were odd like the canned fruit cocktail, but that’s the fun of traveling. Sometimes there was fresh fruit too. The staff up in the breakfast room was as accommodating as they could be. They were all super polite & nice.
Overall, I had a great stay here. I especially appreciated the proximity to the buses to the airport & Rabat/Mdina as well as the ferries. I feel the price was reasonable for the location & breakfast. It’s not fancy, but the price reflects that.
I was told that the hotel is going to get completely renovated. I think they said early next year. They weren’t sure if the hotel will be completely shut down during the renovation.
I would stay here again for the right price.
