The five star Grand Hotel Excelsior with its prestigious location (just a couple of minutes walk from the gates of Valetta) and its astonishing views across Marsamxett Harbour and Manoel Island is as much a draw as Valetta itself.

This is, in every sense, a five-star facility.
You will find your room comfortably spacious with enough room for a king-sized bed (or twin beds). Deluxe Partial Seaview rooms and Deluxe Seafront rooms are also available at a premium, but each and every room boasts a large, well-equipped bathroom and all sorts of facilities including satellite TV with additional paid channels, as well as a mini bar, direct dial phone and tea and coffee making facilities.
Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel, and reassuringly, reception is manned twenty-four hours a day. As you would expect from a hotel of this quality, nothing is too much trouble for the staff to ensure your comfortable stay. You can take your pick of the indoor and outdoor pools, we'd certainly recommend a visit to the hotel beauty centre too.

What an amazing, excellent and fabulous service this hotel offers. From the moment one checks in ( Amanda Galea gives you that extra care and attention one deserves and she is ensures that you feel at home),Melissa Sambugaro, guest relations manager,an absolute gem of a woman that cares and ensures that service provided is excellent,to the staff, chefs and cooks in the restaurant for an efficient, marvellous and freshly cooked breakfast whilst ensuring all safety measures are in place...rooms are not modern however when you have that home feeling even from the chambermaids that’s always smile and happy to care for all your needs ,this is the place you need to book.. The swimming pool is great, however if you prefer a quieter and wonderful beach, their private beach is the place to be....I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone...Thanks
This was the first visit to Malta for my husband and I and was a last minute choice as the air corridors were opened during the pandemic and our Italy holiday had been cancelled. We were not disappointed. Malta is a truly beautiful country and Valletta was a perfect choice for our first visit as we were interested in the history of the place and wanted to do some on-foot sightseeing as well...
The hotel served as a perfect base for us. It was about a ten minute walk to the centre of Valletta, albeit up 88 steps! Our temperature was taken on entering the building every time and hand sanitiser was provided on entry and around about but only staff wore face coverings. We had a side sea view room which was lovely; very spacious and well equipped with tea/coffee, complimentary water daily, tv, hairdryer etc. Balconies are not private as this would obscure the view although we didn't have neighbours after day one, presumably due to low numbers of residents during the pandemic.
Breakfast was served from 6.30 - 10.30 and was a comprehensive selection of hot/cold, continental and English. The staff in this hotel cannot do enough for you and are always polite and helpful. Bar hours were reduced but increased across the week as the number of guests increased and lockdown rules relaxed. Views of the sea and harbour from breakfast and the bar were just stunning.
This hotel has a health club with gym and indoor pool. We only took advantage of the private beach area which was just lovely. The sea is the most blue I have ever seen and the water warm. Reduced numbers in the hotel probably meant for a more relaxed poolside experience. Staff were on hand to take bar orders throughout the day.
All in all, we could not fault this hotel. As key workers who worked throughout the coronavirus lockdown period, this was a relaxed and very welcomed break for us and we were delighted to spend in such a beautiful country with such warm and hospitable locals.
Super hotel - we had a family room with a sea view, fantastic view, very spacious and comfortable. Lots of covid precautions to keep staff safe, great breakfast and the outdoor pool is amazing! Location right next to Valletta is ideal.
The cherry on the cake was the staff - proper five star service and great attention to detail.
We will be back.
Our room was a Pool view, excellent location to enjoy the best view not only of the hotel pool area, but also marsamxett harbour, manouel island and sliema. Rooms very tidy, and well serviced whenever we needed. Hotel staff super friendly, and willing to assist you in everything...
Although in strange circumstances because of Covid-19, breakfast was well served and food was very good. The element of positive surprises during our stay was very well welcomed. Very nice pool and The pool service throughout was very good. Hotel in general was clean, and we fully recommend it 100%.
This was my second visit to the Excelsior and it was a positive repeat of the first. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Service is great and the reception desk were super helpful...
The pools, both indoor and outdoor are great. If felt great to be back and it was truly a fun family time.
