We will be back

Review by 994kerryb Killeagh, Ireland

What an amazing place! We stayed here for 16 nights and didn't once have a bad experience here. The staff are all lovely, and in particular Jolanda at reception, she was just so kind and helpful and was never in a rush with us. The buffet for breakfast and dinner is so good and tasty with many options available...

The pools are brilliant! Our 2 children had so much fun on all the slides. The pool bar also has the best cocktails! If hiring a car we highly recommend doing it through the hotel, it was the cheapest we found and hassle free! About a 50 minute walk to the Old Town which we walked a few times. A great town with so much to see and do! Will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel

Review by carlim633 Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom

Belting Hotel! Went with my friend with his son who has additional needs and we found this hotel fantastic! Check in was easy with all the extra checks, shown to our room. Maps and directions of all the entertainment and areas to visit were given to us. The place is absolutely huge and a tip is to read them because we didn't and we didn't find half of what was on offer until the last day (our own fault...

Not theirs) we were self catering so only ate at the pool and bar but by the smell of breakfast wished we'd paid for that too 😋pool areas and slides and shows are fantastic for kids and adults too! Honestly had the best time ever! Would recommend 100 percent. everything was spotlessly clean, apartments were huge, really happily surprised. One last thing, the staff were lovely but there was one guy who stood out (sorry didn't get your name and hope this doesn't offend) but he was bald and worked on reception. Whilst the hotel was so busy he took the time out to speak and interact with us which was the icing on the cake!! Thankyou alfagar 2..we had a great time and after being a regular visitor to the Sao raf end of albufeira you have changed our mind and we will definitely be return to visit you 😁

Excellent Holiday

Review by tashandave Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

From when we arrived to when we left the staff were pleasant the rooms were lovely and clean. Reception staff were very helpful and book taxis for where ever you want to go and for return. Cleaners cleaned the room to a high standard...

We were self catering, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and ate out in the evenings. The hotel boasts 8 swimming pools and a indoor heated swimming pool. They have a gym, tennis courts and football pitch for the family. There is a lovely beach behind the hotel. You don’t have to run out at 6am to put a towel down there are plenty of sun loungers for all. You have a big balcony on the room that fits a table and 4 chairs and 2 sun loungers.

In summary it is a beautiful place to stay, friendly people and staff.

Terrible service - very bad experience

Review by ivonevalgas The Netherlands

Where can I start? This place has no Service at all. People from reception desk is extremely impolite and rude. Calling the reception desk from your bedroom is a mission impossible since nobody ever answers...

The bedroom phone is broken and roughly glued with duct tape. The cleaning of the bedroom is appalling ! It only happens sometimes very rarely and you can hardly see it as the only thing they do is making the beds (without changing the sheets or the bathroom towels ). The bedroom stays exactly as you left it. Actually, when I checked in I was throwing away trash from the previous guests. Including melted icecream found in the middle of the couch. Yes , because You rent an apartment for 4 people and you get one bedroom and a sofa bed. But you pay 2200 euros per week and you need to make your own bed. Not even when you ask them to do it. Honestly for the price you pay I was expecting to get some service, clean bedrooms and at least kind and polite staff. I will never come back and definitely won’t recommend it to anyone I would be ashamed to show to my friends that this is how Portugal treats it’s guests. There are so many amazing hotels in Portugal Alfagar is NOT one of them - This is not a good experience at all .

Review by Dom P Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom

Like others posting here, I paid a deposit for the Alfagar Apartotel. The terms stated free to cancel within 14 days of arrival. Easyjet cancelled our flight (and refunded us in full straight away)...

As my job has been badly affected by covid we decided to cancel the whole holiday. I emailed Alfagar to expalin but despite being more than 14 days before travel they refused to refund and only offered a voucher.

I explained this was no good as I could not commit to time or expensive to rebook within 12 months and that I would like my deposit refunded as per terms. However they then stopped answering my e-mails at that point.

I can only imagine they must be in alot of trouble if they cannot afford to honour their terms and refund a few hundred pounds. This is terrible service and terrible damage to their reputation.

If you book here and have to cancel or they decide the Alfagar cannot for what ever reason they cannot honour reservation then you will have no chance of getting your money back.
