In September 2010 I visited these apartments with my wife for the first time, to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. Whilst there I wrote my 11th Children;s book in its entirity. The location of this resort had all the peace and tranquillity to allow me to be inspired. The book was published in November 2010 when i returned home. My wife and I have always wanted to return to this resort. In 2017 I became both a Dramatist and Song Writer, all based upon the stories I had written since 1999...
Trying to do all this on a normal day-to-day basis, started to become difficult, so, there was only one place in my mind to go back to, in order to achieve this dream. We booked to go back this year and once there, everything fell into place, I wrote the final seven songs for my Children's Drama. Everything about the charisma of this Falesia Resort makes both of us feel calm and content. So, if you have something to write or create it may also work for you. You will never know unless you go.
We stayed in a studio flat of the Algarve Gardens. While the furniture was not brand new, we had all the necessary for our stay. The kitchen could do with some more equipment, but for the price we paid we really could not complain...
We had also access to all the hotel amenities, such as loungers, swimming pools (inside and outside), jacuzzi and sauna. The studio was cleaned spotless every day and the staff was very nice. We had direct access to the beach and the entire area is just stunning! We are very happy with our stay and recommend this place.
We had booked studio months before we arrived to portugal, but when we finally get there everything has been taken, so we recived Villa in the price of the studio. That was great news and we are very appriciated. Unfortunatelly this hotel has been refubnished ages ago...
Beds, floor, sofas and kitchen are very old, scraped and dystroyed by time. Microvawe was not working, kitchen full of ants soo you definitelly need to keep your food in fridge. Only 2 small glasses and 2 cups are doesnt help to prepare food. Beds in bedroom also very old and poor quality - you can feel all springs. Cleaning staff spray the rooms with bugs killers soo I has been sick on the first day, and we was not able to sleep there. Smell of bug killers and stench of old furniture is horrible. To be fair is Not very romantic and nice place to stay. I think hotel need to invest some money and buy new staff. However staff is very nice and helpfull. Beach around hotel is gorgeous and very clean. Also price wchih we paid was small soo I undertand that can't be a palace. Anyway for me is not even 1 star hotel at this moment.
stayed there sept 2019 ,lovely hotel ,,but the apartments what can i say, yuk, dirt, like being in the 70s,miles from alburfeara ,,18 euro by taxi..but once you are out,,old town is fantastic loads of shops, bars, cafes,
We booked the algarve gardens apartment as a last minute deal and cost us £330 for 5 nights. Don’t be fooled into staying here like we were.
Upon arrival to our destination the shuttle bus had dropped us off at the Alfamar hotel -only guessing we had to check in there. We arrived at 10am to check in and we were told our room was already clean and could be checked in earlier at 11.30am than said standard time of 2pm which was one of the only good things about this place...
They also allowed us to leave our luggage in that really secure luggage cupboard which anybody and everybody had access to.
During the time before getting our keys we explored the back of the hotel grounds which are cliffs which lead onto a stunning beach which was also the only highlight. And then explored the hotel facilities - basic, lack of air conditioning and rather grubby.
When given our keys we were given no directions, no offer to show us where our apartment was, but were given a map of the algarve gardens apartments and there circled our apartment located as far away as possible from the Alfamar as you could get which was actually a 5 minute walk.
After stumbling through the grounds searching each of the apartments we thought were to be ours we finally came to our apartment block I could only describe to look like the grenfell tower post disaster. We entered the open doored building (not locked - another really secure location) and tried to find our room number of 2123 which we had no idea which floor it was situated on as there were no signs. We had to then search each floor and lug our suitcase up 2 floors of stairs as there were no lifts either.
When entering our apartment it was small, dirty, old fashioned, inadequate, inhabitable and most certainly nothing like the photos. The kitchen was a small cupboard with very basic kitchen equipment in, the bathroom had mould on the ceiling and a leaf on the mirror which looked like it had been sat there for some time and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The floors were filthy wouldn’t dare take my shoes off in case I caught the athletes foot infection that had laid there since the place was built. The beds were like laying on a BBQ and squeaked when you breathed, and pillows I can’t even; however beds appeared clean. Air con clearly didn’t exist like the website said and if you opened the balcony door for some air all you could hear was traffic from the main road. Walls were very thin and you could hear all sorts from every apartment in the block. The balcony walls were also too low and anyone who wasn’t super careful could most definitely fall off there into the lovely sandy desert that lay below; that’s if you didn’t purposefully chuck yourself off it because of the state of an apartment you’ve ended up in.
There were only 2 snack bars and 1 restaurant within walking distance which doesn’t give you much option and we wouldn’t have wanted to make our own food ever considering our ‘kitchen’ was about as useful as a nuns chuff. And if you wanted to go elsewhere Uber from here to the centre of Albufeira was €15 and a €30 round trip, making it very expensive if you wanted more of a selection of bars and restaurants.
My boyfriend had then gone to complain to the staff and the manager who offered us an ‘upgrade’ to another apartment for an extra €10 per night, however after seeing how much they weren’t apologetic or bothered about our complaints and from the state of the place already we had already made our minds up that we wouldn’t be staying there. We then asked about the Alfamar itself and they said we could upgrade for an extra €75 per night.. next joke. We then decided to stay somewhere else completely. We lasted a whole 4 hours here in algarve gardens before we checked out and moved to another apartment complex much closer to the centre which was also cheaper (€277) and much nicer called Natura (defo recommend).
The place is just filled with false advertisement. Not once do they show you pictures of the kitchens or bathrooms and the tower block you will be staying in. Or the fact that it states it has air con when it doesn’t. It fills you with hope, making it out to be an apartment complex with a bar, restaurant and pool but it’s using the Alfamars facilities for business to lure you to this dump.
If you’re that desperate to stay here, I’d recommend you get a hire car so you don’t have to stay within the confined area of this place and bring your own pillow because they’re pathetic.
