- Almar Hotel Apartamento

The seafront Mediterranean-style aparthotel offers panoramic views of Albufeira from its outdoor pools. Fisherman's Beach is about 400 metres from Almar, less than 26 kilometres away is Faro Airport and traditional products can be found in the nearby shops. The restaurants and pubs of Albufeira are easily reachable on foot. The unit features views over the Atlantic Ocean and provides great accessibility to all guests including those with limited mobility. The establishment features a pool area for wher whole family can enjoy refreshing cocktails and snacks. Amazing balconies, spacious seating areas and easy access to lay in or outside the flats. Flats are fully well-appointed with home appliances to ensure a confort home experience, and guests can find groceries at the supermarkets around the resort.
On our arrival we were hit with a 100 euro or £ CASH only deposit. As we were only there 3 nights none of us had this. We had to find a cash point at 11pm. This then changed to 150 each. 600 euros we had to find. The local tax also was cash only. Not a great start! When we finally got to the room we were very happy. Lots of space for 4, great sea view balcony. However they have many awful rooms which don't have sea view. Be careful who you book with, you don't get what you book with Love holidays for 1. I would check with hotel before you go. If you leave the hotel and go left there is a nice cafe that sells lovely Ice pops and coffee/food as the hotel has nothing. Just round the corner to the left you'll find the spar shop and a few other shops. Keep walking down and you're at the Beach with loads of shops and bars. We liked the sunbeds to the far right with tables. There is a public toilet up the steps. I wouldn't stay at the Almar with young children. The pool bar was cash only and no one was ever there. Pool had loads of bugs in. Still had a lovely swim but kids would hate it. The walk up and down to the beach would have been a struggle also. There are escalators when you get to the beach. Not always working and very steep. Would recommend Restaurant Sal & Mar and the one just before it. Looking over the Beach. Excellent meals and lovely looking Breakfast.
Really special place beautiful Albufeira the hotel was just what we wanted very quite ,lovely room and close to everything
Stayed here again after being there last year (2024) went back again this year (2025) as we had a great time. Location was great, apartments are fairly standard, kept clean, although I do agree with other reviews, the bathrooms really need a makeover. Other have stated they got a smell around the complex and was over run with flies, I didn't experience either. Pool was kept clean and pool bar was well run by Philomena.
Now for the bad part, we as a family stayed in room 203. Each night we'd sit out on the balcony having food or just relaxing. One particular night my partner and kids got a very strong smell of someone smoking drugs above, and they decided to come back into the apartment as the smell was overwhelming Just after they came in a large bucket of water was thrown down onto our balcony, which also went onto the balcony below us too.
I complained to the staff at Almar Hotel regarding the drug use and water throwing and the girl at reception said she reported it to her manager and managing director but they could not do anything that night as it was too late but would deal with it seriously the following day.
When I enquired the following day about an update I was told they spoke with the family above us and they said it won't happen again. I then informed them, we'd went out to our balcony that morning to find food items that were thrown down from the family above. The reply from the receptionist was maybe they were just feeding the seagulls. So we were basically fobbed off.
This is totally unacceptable behaviour for any Hotel to accept from anyone to do to other people who have paid good money. For Almar Hotel to allow other guests to disrespect other guests and allowing open drug use happen especially around kids is totally unacceptable, and for that reason, I would not return and would advise others to do the same
First couple of days apartment was fine then the flys came hundreds of them had to live out of of suitcases cause you couldn't keep anything hanging up informed reception gave us spray to spray no good on arriving home informed company I booked with to complain only to be told that when I complained there they said they moved us to another room and we were happy they were trying to say it's a hot country you get flys going to albuferia 20 years now never seen it before
We were lucky with the room we got it was room 409, perfect location with a nice enough view. One thing I will point out was all the flys in the hotel area but not too sure if that was just over the heat but I overheard a few guests saying there room had loads. Room was spotless & staff were nice & friendly. downside was there was no bar or restaurant at the hotel this time of year & my biggest issue was that it was only one key per room & you had to hand in your key every time you left the building. As for Albureira town itself I would not recommend nor would I stay there again as it was all stags & hens, we were told by locals that the new town used to be like this but it's now the old town as well. Very messy with loads of drunks all day long. Not many activities to do in the area either & the beach was only ok. Overall a nice stay but would not be staying in the town again. It's like Benidorm 2.0
