It isn't always easy to find a hotel with the right combination of amenities, comfort and elegance – all set in the right location. But when you choose the Algarve, the possibilities open right up.
Beautifully situated, overlooking the sea at Sesmarias, the Baia Grande hotel is a wonderful example of a hotel that meets all those criteria. Set in elegant, well-tended lawns, it shows how a modern hotel can look at one with its surroundings. You'll be assured of a warm welcome and a very comfortable stay – the wide ranging amenities mean you'll want for nothing.
When you stay at the Baia Grande Hotel, you'll immediately notice just how well presented it all is. Clearly this is a hotel where great care and attention have been lavished on everything from the beautifully laid out swimming pools to the elegant guests' rooms.
All twin/double rooms are air conditioned, and feature full en suite bathrooms. You'll also have satellite TV, telephone, minibar and hairdryer. A safe and Wi-Fi are also available to hire. And, as you'd expect of a four star Algarve hotel, all guests' rooms have a balcony or terrace with a pool or ocean view.
The pool really is something very special. It's been beautifully designed – complete with a walkway to a central island, and is one of the most enticing on the Algarve. There is also an indoor pool – with sauna and Jacuzzi facilities. And you can hire the hotel masseuse to soothe away any aches and pains.
Another great benefit of staying at the Baia Grande Hotel is its location – just half a mile to Galé beach, and a couple to Albufeira. And to make it even easier for you to get there, you can catch a free bus to Albufeira or Galé from the hotel (weekdays only).
With its palm trees, and its beautiful sense of design, Baia Grande Hotel is a wonderful place to call your holiday home. It proves that finding the right kind of hotel is always worth the effort.

This elegant and comfortable hotel overlooks the sea at Sesmarias. It is less than half a mile to the nearest beach and about two miles from the centre of Albufeira which offers a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The well-tended gardens of the hotel offer a scenic backdrop of lawns and palm trees to a large outdoor pool. The Algarve's varied attractions are within easy reach of the hotel.
Possibly the worst value for money accomodation I've experienced. Not really sure how it qualifies as a four star hotel. The room itself was very basic with paper thin walls (felt like I was in a daytime soap opera from about 7am onwards)...
Lunch took over an hour to arrive (a ham & cheese sandwich), which when it finally did, turned out to be a tuna sandwich (alas the ham of the sea!). When the error was noticed, I was then asked if I liked Tuna! The indoor pool & facilities consisted of a child sized pool(from which towels inexplicably had to be obtained from the reception area upstairs as opposed to the "wellness centre" situated at the pool/there were no lockers either), which required mandatory headcaps at 5 euro a pop, a steam room, an out of order sauna and a gym closet. No tea or coffee facilities in the room either, which required a staff member to open your locked mini-bar - answers on a postcard please....
Felt like a disorganized hostel for troubled youths as opposed to a 4-star hotel & spa retreat.
We have been visiting this hotel for many years and each visit is just like coming home. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotless with high hygiene standards and the rooms are always comfortable, clean and tidy. The only minor fault this time was the attitude of two members of staff in the restaurant who didn't seem to conform to the hotels normally high standards but this detract from our enjoyment and we have already booked for later in the year.
Changed to this place for a change, love the area, and blown away by the clean, comfortable and chilled nature of the place.. Will be going back... Breakfast was good, evening meals good and felt very at home there... If you get chance, then go
We have just spent 5 days in this hotel during our trip to Algarve and the stay was pretty good.
Some issues with room soundproofing as we could hear our neighbors take their showers and chat as if we were in the room with them. The music at the bar was quite good but we didn't expect to hear it on the floor below with our door closed...
Great restaurant staff, especially the manager. As a former chef de rang in similar establishments, I am not easily impressed. Always smiling, and they genuinely looked happy to be there which made the whole experience great.
The indoor swimming pool was quite good, everything worked well except the sauna which was out of service.
A good hotel overall, pretty well located if your looking to travel around Algarve for a few days.
Another superb holiday at the Baia Grande. On arrival the reception team were very welcoming, always nice after a long journey, and have been on our last 10 visits to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, Dora kindly helped print off our locator information as we struggled. Food was excellent, great choice and well organised at meal times. Carlos as always very professional in delivering great service along with Maria and all. Look forward to returning in 22.
