It isn't always easy to find a hotel with the right combination of amenities, comfort and elegance – all set in the right location. But when you choose the Algarve, the possibilities open right up.
Beautifully situated, overlooking the sea at Sesmarias, the Baia Grande hotel is a wonderful example of a hotel that meets all those criteria. Set in elegant, well-tended lawns, it shows how a modern hotel can look at one with its surroundings. You'll be assured of a warm welcome and a very comfortable stay – the wide ranging amenities mean you'll want for nothing.
When you stay at the Baia Grande Hotel, you'll immediately notice just how well presented it all is. Clearly this is a hotel where great care and attention have been lavished on everything from the beautifully laid out swimming pools to the elegant guests' rooms.
All twin/double rooms are air conditioned, and feature full en suite bathrooms. You'll also have satellite TV, telephone, minibar and hairdryer. A safe and Wi-Fi are also available to hire. And, as you'd expect of a four star Algarve hotel, all guests' rooms have a balcony or terrace with a pool or ocean view.
The pool really is something very special. It's been beautifully designed – complete with a walkway to a central island, and is one of the most enticing on the Algarve. There is also an indoor pool – with sauna and Jacuzzi facilities. And you can hire the hotel masseuse to soothe away any aches and pains.
Another great benefit of staying at the Baia Grande Hotel is its location – just half a mile to Galé beach, and a couple to Albufeira. And to make it even easier for you to get there, you can catch a free bus to Albufeira or Galé from the hotel (weekdays only).
With its palm trees, and its beautiful sense of design, Baia Grande Hotel is a wonderful place to call your holiday home. It proves that finding the right kind of hotel is always worth the effort.

This elegant and comfortable hotel overlooks the sea at Sesmarias. It is less than half a mile to the nearest beach and about two miles from the centre of Albufeira which offers a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The well-tended gardens of the hotel offer a scenic backdrop of lawns and palm trees to a large outdoor pool. The Algarve's varied attractions are within easy reach of the hotel.
Worse stubborn and most unhelpful staff ever - in most service industries around the world, the customer is always right..not in this hotel, where the hotel staff is always right. We travelled as family of four to include 2 young children, but had to specify 2 adults on the booking to avoid an extra room being charged but did specify we needed a cot for the room. On check in, our kids were on the sofa close by...
However, we were treated like criminals during our stay being accused for hiding our kids from the booking including even purposely locked out of our room straight after a swim which not professional or courteous. Once advised of the importance in the morning, we informed them we would see them later in the day, but as we were not quick enough, they decided to block our room entry card! Why not just leave a note in the hotel room etc instead of freezing our access when we were all cold and wet from a swim!
Other issues include very slow service at reception, and long queues in the morning for breakfast. I patiently waited for 30 mins to be seen by reception to ask for a beach towel to be told they ran out! During one breakfast, we had to split our family of 4 with 2 young children into two tables, but when one large table became free, we asked if we could take to be told NO WAY, for it to be taken by 4 adults, bizarre?! Ps you need a car for this hotel, shuttle buses are VERY limited and nearest supermarket is a 20 mins walk!
Each time I complained to senior management, they are very quick to boast about their experience and hotel policies etc but NEVER truly listen or address customer issues, hence found them to be the most unhelpful and stubborn staff including general manager himself. I am just waiting for them to reply to this email, once again defending their hotel policy and magnificent staff etc... Avoid this hotel if customer service is an important part of your stay..very disappointing for a 4 star hotel, probably worse stay in my 28 years.
Rating 3 stars as really that’s what this hotel is, there is just no way this is a 4 star hotel. The rooms are nice but en suites very dated and in desperate need of modernising. The grout and shower head were moulded over quite badly and left of feeling very dingy...
Pool are is nice and plenty of sun beds available. Breakfast was pretty average, not a huge selection and was quite busy and felt a little like feeding time at the zoo with everyone charging around in quite a small restaurant.
For a cheap price it’s fine but whole place in need of some modernisation.
We holidayed at Baiai Grande for 4 weeks in September/Ocober knowing that we would have to self isolate for 14 days on return to the UK and it was so worth it. The hotel had everything in place to facillitate a safe stay. We have stayed many times and will continue to do so as this hotel provides and caters to an exceptional standard especially given our current constraints . As always Baia Grande boasts both excellent and friendly staff who are always happy to go one step further to make our stay special- 'breakfast crew' always ready to supply toast -simple but examplifies just how kind they are. We can only recommend that you go to Baiai Grand and see how safe and enjoyable it is . Make it soon !
Having had a few holidays cancelled this year due to ongoing pandemic we were determined to get away for this one. Having stayed in this hotel in September the previous year we knew what to expect on a normal return visit but had lowered expectations with everything going on. We needn't of had to...
The rooms are cleaned every day and all the necessary precautions are in place. The hotel was still as fantastic as we had remembered, very quiet but that made the experience even better.
I proposed to my partner on this trip and have to say thank you for the unexpected gifts that were left in our room from the hotel. We hadn't arranged anything directly with the hotel but they accessed social media and noticed the occasion. A very special touch and a massive thank you for making the ocassion even more special.
We have stayed in the area a number of times before, it is a beautiful location, but upon staying in the Baia grande previously we would no longer stay anywhere else in Albufeira.
The grounds and facilities are top notch and the staff from cleaners to management do an excellent job. A special mention to Fabio in the pool bar, very friendly and attentive and an excellent barman.
We will return again, pandemic or not.
Just come back from a week in this hotel . Spotlessly clean large room , en-suite a bit dated but clean towels every day. Lovely sea view. Pool area lovely with an outdoor Cafe...
Was a little bit far from the main Albuferia attractions but we hired a car. I’ve stayed in a lot of 4 star hotels in the past and I didn’t think that the food was quite up to standard with poor choice at the evening meal. We ate out most nights because of this . Breakfast was better. On the whole though enjoyed our stay.
