Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This a really beautiful hotel. The rooms are very spacious and clean we could not fault it in any way. The rooms and towels are changed daily if required. We only had breakfast included there was a really good selection of food for everyone from full english to continental available everyday also fresh fruit and yoghurt. The staff from reception to catering staff were really very friendly. The outdoor swimming pool was really big and clean with plenty of sun beds. You can find a very nice restaurant and supermarket 2 min walk from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any one and would return if visiting Albufiera again
Although generally I would say it’s an ok place to stay. There were a few moments that I thought this is absolutely not a 5* holiday.
Definitely for the younger people. Not particularly a family holiday hotel.
The room below us had young men smoking drugs on there balcony forcing me and my child on the balcony above to go back inside and shut the door. There were very very drunk groups of “lads” around the pool area. One particular man was so intoxicated (and still getting served alcohol) that he decided to belly flop into the pool where children including mine were playing nicely. And he ended up cutting his leg open. Then proceeded to sit pool side at the bar area pouring blood onto the floor, which in turn was running directly into the pool. Got my child out and we left. The same group of lads openly had a bag of cocaine on the table and we’re not been discreet in the slightest in front of pool bar staff. Not one member of staff said a thing. On other days on several separate occasions there were dried drops of blood in the lifts and landings. Some of which just as you get out the lift on the 4th floor hasn’t been washed/cleaned away our whole visit.
We were bullied out of our sun loungers by another different group of lads playing football within 5 feet of my child at the pool. The ball was “accidentally” kicked towards us and other families until we eventually gave up and left the pool once again. Upon leaving one lad said “oh had enough” again pool staff within a few feet said absolutely nothing. Although they were playing darts with others holiday makers.
Food was ok. Not five star dining. But variety was ok. Different theme each night. Drinks EXTREMELY watered down , soft drinks and alcohol.
Jacuzzi was filthy, brown slimy water. And saunas were dirty. Lots of plasters and bits of tissue. Which was odd in a sauna
Room was absolutely massive and clean. Great for a family. Sadly no hotel miniatures you’d expect from a 5* hotel tho. Safe was key coded which was handy. No need to hire the key.
Highly recommended going to Zoomarine. Best part of the holiday.
Overall I’d say it’s a young persons hotel, lads & ladies looking for the night life.
This hotel is perfectly located for those looking at the more party side of Albufeira as it’s a very short walk to the new town strip. The rooms cater nicely to larger groups and the self-catering kitchen was great for us as we chose not to do the all-inclusive. I’d like to add how this hotel did not cater towards a ‘party holiday’ vibe so if that’s what you want i would advise against booking it!!! The rules are quite strict (good for those looking to relax) but impacted our experience a tad. When we arrived we were given no balcony after specifically booking a room with one. We had to wait until the following day to change room. Secondly, the pool was lovely and was a clean and entertaining area. however, loud music blared the second you got down there at 10am to when you would leave. We had no issue with this around 4pm as drinks started flowing and families moved upstairs but disappointing for those looking to relax. Was told it was due to the entertainers but they did perfectly fine without needing the music. Also, the bar was dark and had a rather dull atmosphere so we would stay in our rooms before going out. Those looking to do AI should keep that in mind. All in all, the location is great and the facilities available to the users of the hotel are also good. There is a supermarket 2 mins down the road that has everything you need. However, if you are looking for somewhere more relaxing i’d advise against the hotel due to the music and crowd (albeit, like us) the location attracts.
Location is around 10 minute walk to the strip,30 minutes to the Old town. Ubers are so cheap if you prefer not to walk. Rooms are massive and everything you need, however are very dated.Cleaning staff are very good. Pool area decent, with good atmosphere and no fight for beds, drinks are fine same as any all inclusive ,however can't get bottled water or non alcoholic beer(not really 5*). Snack bar is nice but limited to burgers overall. Buffet restaurant is nice ,however small and limited choices pf food compared to other hotels. No live cooking stations etc. Use of other restaurants within the Mgm group are good, but with extremely limited menus. Entertainment is just non existent, dont really stay in hotels on evenings anyway. But if you do there is simply nothing on. If you have younger children avoid, nothing for them here. All the mgm group hotels which we have used facilities in the area need renovation. Some areas are a mess and very scruffy for any star rating. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't come back,we've had a good holiday, but accepted from looking at previous reviews what to expect. If your expecting 5* you will be extremely disappointed. Its a low bar 4* at best. Would definitely come back to Albufeira, but woild look to stay nearer Old Town.
We recently stayed at this hotel as a party of five, ranging in age from 13 to 73, and it suited all of us well. There was genuinely something for everyone, making it a great choice for families and mixed-age groups.
Overall, we felt the hotel offered excellent value for money. The food selection was varied, and the all-inclusive package included a good choice of drinks and cocktails. The local beer was particularly enjoyable.
The entertainment was what you would expect from a family-friendly all-inclusive resort, with karaoke, bingo, poolside games, and activities throughout the day. The atmosphere was fun without being overwhelming.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly, polite, and helpful throughout our stay.
Our room was spacious enough for our needs, and although we were staying all-inclusive, having a kitchenette was still useful. The view from our room wasn’t the best, overlooking a small road and the rear of another hotel, but another room in our party had a lovely pool view.
There were a few areas where improvements could be made. The pool could do with a deeper clean, as there was a green film around the edge which may have been caused by a build-up of sun cream and general use.
We also experienced a minor issue with housekeeping. One day, several toiletries that had been left on the bathroom side disappeared, including face wipes, face cloths and a small toiletries bag. We don’t believe these items were deliberately taken, but they may have been accidentally discarded during cleaning. We mentioned it to reception for information, as it was frustrating to lose items that had been left out for daily use.
Another small downside for us was that the gym doesn’t open until 9am. A few members of our group would have happily used it earlier, particularly around 7am before the day got going. Similarly, coffee as part of the all-inclusive package isn’t available until breakfast service begins. As we had a few early risers in our party, it would have been nice to be able to grab a coffee before breakfast. That said, if you’re not planning an early workout or an early morning coffee, this is unlikely to affect your stay.
It’s worth noting that this is not a luxury five-star hotel, but the price reflects that. If you’re looking for a high-end luxury experience, you would likely need to spend considerably more. For the price paid, we felt the hotel delivered exactly what was promised.
The location is excellent, with the New Town around a 15-minute walk away and the Old Town around 20 minutes on foot. This does mean the hotel may attract groups looking to enjoy the local nightlife. During our stay, there were several groups staying at the hotel, but everyone was respectful and simply enjoying time with friends. We did hear some noise from a neighbouring room in the early hours on one occasion, but it was limited to conversation rather than disruptive behaviour. As with any hotel, your experience may depend on who happens to be staying nearby.
We only visited the Old Town once during our five-day stay, spending most of our time relaxing by the pool, which was exactly what we wanted. Overall, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a well-located, good-value base for a holiday in Albufeira.
