Nice Stay

Review by steve165Cork, Ireland

A nice central hotel with plenty of amenities. A hop skip and jump from the beach with a lovely bar and deck to relax when you need it . Pool is excellent and a good size...

Town is just a stroll away and the old town is a cheap short taxi away.

Brilliant Holiday in Praia da Oura!

Review by RachT71Staffordshire, United Kingdom

We had brilliant stay in this hotel. The rooms were big and comfy but are starting to show their age. The pool was brilliant with amazing views and slides too for the kids! The walk to the beach was amazing...

However, the strip in Praia da Oura is full of youth, with a cheap hotel across the Road with youngsters singing and chanting until the early hours which can be intimidating for families. We found some days that young people from other places were using the hotels facilities and pools which became a nuisance and there was no security to stop them. The bar was excellent. The staff also were brilliant and very friendly. The WIFI is somewhat good but the signal can fluctuate massively.

Never again! Not a 5 star hotel as advertised. 3star at best.

Review by TracyH027Limerick, Ireland

We booked this hotel on the description that it was sold as a 5 star hotel. this was NOT the case and here is why: Upon arrival at 3pm on a hot afternoon, we were told we could not check in until 4pm. after travelling since 7am with 2 children (age 6 and 11) we were hot and hungry and wanted to freshen up and spend what was left of our first afternoon by the pool...

we weren't offered a bottle of water or anything. we were allowed to store our luggage at reception. we went to a nearby cafe for some food. we came back and our room was ready - we had booked a self catering apartment, it was spacious and clean but was located right next to the road in front of the hotel arrival point. there were no spoons or cups available in the kitchen and we had to ask 3 times that day for them, they finally arrived next morning. the cutlery and crockery was very limited and the tv in the bedroom didnt work at all. we went down to the pool, i have to say the pool was lovely and great fun for the kids. however my delight at this didnt last long, the sunloungers are all chained together with a wire so you cannot move them around to face the sun or to move them at all. therefore you will end up in the shade for part of your day by the pool. The pool is also closed off in the mornings and doesn't open until 9am at which time you have to queue up with other guests who practically push and run for the best sunlounger spots. the sunloungers are also the old, cheap plastic white and blue ones and they are rammed up alongside each other like sardines so you really get to know your neighbours! - again NOT 5star quality. we did not eat at the hotel so i cannot comment on that however the restaurants at the front of the beach were great value and service. The beach is also beautiful and we went there every afternoon as we were in the shade at the hotel pool. The is also no kids club as advertised, there is a kids club at the sister hotel a couple of blocks away. the hotel entertainment wasn't great, the one night we did stay for drinks we were the only ones there. there is a little shop within the hotel grounds that has a range of handy groceries etc and they bake fresh breads daily which is lovely. What they dont tell you in the description either is that the hotel apartments are mainly timeshare so many of the guests are resident and they tend to have their own 'area's around the pool, unofficially, but you'll be told if your dare put your towel on one of their spaces. During our stay, a french romany family of about 12 people arrived (children and adults), they were very loud, rough and boisterous around the pool, dive bombing in and slamming football into the pool where small little children were playing, shouting and taking over the pool. many guests including ourselves notified the pool staff and reception and they had to ask them to be quiet many times but to no real effect. Finally for the last 4 days of our 10day stay, they closed off the lower half of the pool which had the water slides, their only redeeming feature. For our holiday the previous year in Albuferia, we stayed 10 days at the stunning 5 star Grand Real Santa Eulalia beach club resort around 4km down the coast and that was definitely a 5star hotel so you can imagine my disappointment when we arrived at this one. All they have going for it, is the location and a good pool with a waterslide for kids, nothing more. Don't bother with this hotel, i wouldnt stay there for free. we paid a 5star price for a cheap 3star venue. never again!

NO NO NO! Unless you like the 1970's

I would love to know where the 5 star status comes from?????? I bet this will not be answered, just you see! Old and dated is so true plus egg smelling drains. Absolute disgrace to the profession of hoteliers. Stained beds, cracked tile and mould filled euphoria...

Close the lot until FULLY refurbished. So dilapidated its untrue. MGM Murtu hotels should remove the initials MGM as this stands for superior quality when I've stayed at the real MGM. Absolutley disgusting. Close it down until you can afford to do the place justice.

Beautiful Views

Review by Maddie12Mississauga

Arrived February 26, 2020. Booked this holiday a year ago and we’re told by our travel agent we would have a renovated apartment, seaview and a washing machine. Apartment 404 had the seaview but old and tired and a balcony that was so narrow the chairs barely fit...

However, we decided we would just put up with it until the renovations began 2 days later, directly above us, drilling, hammering, that would begin at 9:00 a.m. Reception gave us a couple of different options but non had the exceptional view and we’re equally as tired. Finally, after 3 weeks we’re put into a renovated apartment on the fifth floor which was lovely. Sadly, because of covid19, we along with a number of others had to leave so only enjoyed our apartment for 5 short days. All in all, for a lot of reasons, had a disappointing holiday. Oura View is well located, beautiful views, helpful reception but under renovations that seem to be ongoing and should not be allowed to interfere with people’s holidays.
