Albufeira

Everyone who's been there loves Albufeira. It is one of Portugal's favourite holiday destinations, and with good reason. The picturesque old fishing village has grown into a thriving, friendly place. It retains its picture postcard charm, but has still got plenty to offer today's holidaymaker.

Not surprisingly, people who love going to Albufeira love staying at the Inatel Albufeira. This wonderfully friendly hotel is located right in the heart of Albufeira making it the perfect place for holidaymakers to make the most of the gateway to the Algarve.

The Inatel Albufeira is the perfect place for holidaymakers in Portugal's favourite hotspot:

There's a lovely welcoming feel to the Inatel Albufeira; you'll experience it just as soon as you step into the bright, modern reception area. Guests don't just pass through; with free Wi-Fi on offer, it's a great place to spend a few minutes just taking it easy, perhaps rattling off a quick email and enjoying the laidback holiday experience.

In fact, everything about this hotel is designed with your relaxation firmly in mind. Whether you choose the fabulous indoor sports complex, or the large, outdoor swimming pool; whether you take a leisurely trip out into Albufeira; or enjoy a cool drink at one of the hotel's three bars, you can relax your way. This is your holiday, and the staff at the Inatel Albufeira want you to make the most of it. There's certainly no shortage of ways to pack your day. We mentioned sports – you can enjoy billiards, snooker, football, volleyball and tennis, all within the hotel and grounds. The main pool and children's pool are both excellent too.

You'll certainly be able to relax in your room. All rooms at the Inatel Albufeira are comfortable en suites and each has a balcony. They come equipped with TV, telephone, hairdryer and mini bar. Safes are also available at a fee.

Rooms are light, bright and airy – and in common with the rest of the hotel, cheery. This is a fun place to stay, and a great place for you to experience everything Albufeira has to offer.

With an excellent on-site restaurant – and all the great bars and restaurants of Albufeira just a stone's throw away, you'll be able to enjoy the best of the local cuisine too. After all, that's all part and parcel of an Algarve holiday – look out for some sumptuous seafood and great local dishes…

The Inatel Albufeira is more than a great base. Like Albufeira, it gives holidaymakers just what they want – a bright, happy holiday experience, with all that Algarve charm.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

The food is so bad it made me ill

Review by OxfordNigelandsam Oxford

The hotel were supposed to arrange a walker for my 85 year old mum but had no idea what a walker was. Basic instructions not passed on by staff. Fire escapes locked...

Most staff spoke no English when you complained but fluent the rest of the time. The food was based on the (openly hostile) French customers and the main courses that were supposed to be hot were served stone cold. The food was so bad it made me ill but the staff ignored my complaints. Hot food lying around to go cold before service alone is a no-no. Staff brought out literally stone cold chips, veg meat etc. Most other guests were French which blanked us when we politely said good evening. I felt unwelcome at best. I'm talking me my niece and elderly mum not larger louts!

Great time

Review by Pinchy Newcastle upon Tyne

Pleasantly surprised by hotel, we stayed in the older one at the back. Hotel was very clean. Friendly reception staff...

We got there about 11am so left our luggage for a wander about, went to pool area, nicely grassed and drinka reasonable. Our room was big with a large, very comfortable bed. Air con was excellent. Free safe in room. Had excellent sleep here. Breakfast was ok, plenty of fruit, mainly had bacon with scrambled or fried eggs and tomatoes. Coffee nice out of machine. Area was nice and quiet, we were surprised that there were a few stag groups as its more of a family hotel, but they seemed quiet enough around the pool. Will stay again.

Beautiful relaxing place for 3 night stay

Review by LakelandGirl LakeDistrict, UK

We booked this trip as an alternative to a city break in the UK, we were missing Portugal after the last couple of years absence. The cost via Thomas Cook was cheaper with flights and 3 nights here than 3 nights in UK, so we booked. We upgraded to a superior seaview room, it was well worth it, we were blown away with the view, the size of the room and the overall serene vibe to the hotel...

We were in the Inatel Praia which is located a short walk from the main Inatel building which is where the pool area is. We did wander across there and the rooms we could see with balconies looked appealing too. You can tell by the photos which building, as the Priai building is all done in pale blue/turquiose decoration and furnishings. The room had 2 single beds pushed together. The bathroom area was like one large galss cube with a band of frosted glass for some privacy. It gave a very modern feel. There was a safe and a small fridge with a flat screen tv on the wall. The large sliding doors out onto the balcony and the sea view was what made this room special, it was so nice to sit and watch everyone walking and playing on the beach and listening to the waves in the evening. Breakfast was in a clean, bright room with doors open onto a terrace so you could take your food out there. It was an adequate breakfast,. Each day there was a variety of bread rolls, croissants, pain au chocolat, cakes, (you had to be really early to get the pastel de nata). There was sliced cheese, a whole camembert to spoon out the centre, brie, tomatoes, soft cheese and pate. Fresh fruit which was lovely and fresh, we had melon, pineapple and huge grapes, strawberries. There were yoghurts, cereals and mixed nits, dried fruti etc. If you like a hot breakfast this possibly would dissapoint you as there was fried eggs, thick slices of buffalo tomato, beans, scrambled egg , bacon and hot dog style mini sausage. My husband did try these but they were not very warm and not very tasty. I enjoyed my breakfast each day and to be honest it made a nice change being forced to choose something other than traditional hot breakfast. There was also 2 varieties of bread for toast and jam, fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee, with yoghurt drinks too. We got the feeling there were not a lot of English speaking staff there, but everyone we encountered were very friendly, smiley and polite. We prefer not to have our room cleaned everyday and left the do not disturb sign out, we got a letter by the door saying they had not done the room as our sign was out but to request any items we were short of and they would bring them to us, nice touch we thought. The location is great, we are a coulple in our 50's and value some level of peace and quiet and like to seek out the hustle and bustle rather than be among it, a very short walk from the escalators and you were there, very convenient. The Watefront and the beach bar are very close and served lovely cocktails. So all in all a great hotel to lay your head within close proximity to whatever level of activity and entertainment you could wish for, and the beach walks are fabulous.

Excellent hotel stay

Review by bdon257 Morpeth, United Kingdom

We spent six nights here on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is located in a very quiet spot in large well kept grounds with a small pool mature trees, shrubs and flower beds. It is a short walk to the old town around 6 to 7 minutes , the beach is just across the road, two minutes away...

We had a lovely clean and comfortable room on the top floor with a sea view. Staff were all friendly, pleasant and helpful the breakfast buffet was comprehensive and was constantly being refilled with fresh food. We recommend this pleasant hotel to anyone holidaying in Albufeira and we would certainly stay here again if visiting the Algarve.
