Good in parts

Review by Ninasunlover London, United Kingdom

We stayed for 2 weeks and the studio was nice, clean and exactly as pictured. Every drawer was filled with kitchen equipment so a bit of reorganising is required to find some shelf space for your clothes. We couldn't check in until 15:30 but once we experienced the cleaning routine...we knew why.

The housekeeping worked hard and we could see them completing a deep clean after guests checked out however this meant that the routine cleaning of other rooms was inconsistent and sometimes not done before 6pm or other days not done at all...

The dishwasher was great but only 2 tablets were provided on arrival and again on our last day.

We requested a sunny room and even though we did not receive a response our request was received and we did get a lovely sunny room with a great view over the ourabay pool. We were informed on arrival that we could not use the ourabay pool even though this was advertised...a lot of guests from the Luna did use it anyway. The Luna pool area was nice and clean with new sunbeds but the pool was too small for the size of the hotel. There were plenty of sunbeds and space but it didn't feel like a holiday resort more of a city hotel. The pool area was enclosed it felt very noisy on some days due to the echoing. Do not use your Bluetooth speakers it really is annoying for everyone else. Some greenery would help it feel more relaxing and less concrete jungle.

Location was great for the beach, shops and restaurants. There was some noise from the street at night however there was only minimal noise from the rooms around us. The free shuttle bus was a great benefit. The gym was a good size with new equipment arriving while we were there.

The hotel was advertised as having no stag or hen groups but there were at least 2 groups of 10-20 during our stay.

If you arrive by coach you get dropped by the road but by minibus you get dropped in front of the reception.

Reception staff were always busy but they were very helpful printing off all our forms for the flight home, much appreciated!

Even though the hotel was busier than expected the covid rules for mask wearing, sanitiser, lift use etc were being followed by all and we felt very safe.

Location was fine but there are better places to stay

Review by 408orlat Ireland

The property wasn't clean and walls were paper thin. Most of the staff were nice but we had to call for the cleaners to come as they were never consistent. We complained but got a non apology...

Wouldn't recommend.

Very clean safe hotel with excellent facilities. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate.

Review by T8524TBpetert Manchester, England, United Kingdom

Plenty to like about this hotel. Location is good. It is close enough to walk to the Strip in less than 10 minutes and there are plenty of local restaurants...

We stayed B&B. Normally I end up eating out some mornings when I go to Spain/Portugal as the cooked breakfasts are normally poor but here it was good enough and the cold breakfast choice was very good. Disposable gloves were provided for food areas and plenty of hand cleansing stations throughout the hotel. Staff were always following covid rules. It felt very safe environment. There is an excellent indoor pool and spa and gym as well as outdoor pool at back and you are also welcome to use Ourabay pool at the front if you spend at their bar. Rooms have good SC facilities but are quite traditional and basic furnishings. Nice balcony and beds were comfy. Overall some aspects of this hotel felt quite high standard for a budget hotel and the staff were very professional and helpful at all times. I would certainly go back here and it gets my recommendation. Above expectations.

Functional hotel

Review by ktrtontour Darlington, United Kingdom

First opportunity to travel in 2021 so this hotel was chosen because it was in Portugal which was green at the time and because it was in the Easyjet holidays package. Check in was not great; we were told we could not get into our room as check in wasn't until 3pm; we were offered somewhere to change and leave our luggage. We went off for a drink but were disappointed when we returned that we still could not get in, despite doing what we were asked...

It was another 20 minutes before we got our key. We had taken an apartment as there were no rooms available but actually this turned out well. The apartment has two floors: downstairs there is an open plan kitchen and lounge, with a balcony overlooking the pool. Also bathroom with powerful shower over Bath, temperature hard to get right. Kitchen well equipped including a dish washer. Upstairs was a separate bedroom with lovely double bed, cool bedding and extra wardrobe and drawer space. Plus another large balcony, which got a lot of sun! There were no chairs or sunbeds provided on second balcony, which was a shame. During this strange May week we had no problem getting a sunbed round the pool, not sure what it would be like in the height of the season. Beach is a walkable distance but there is a steep bank to contend with on your return. The pool at the front of the hotel and featured in photos on TripAdvisor is for the hotel next door but seemed to be used by residents of our hotel too. You are one street away from the 'strip' which was very much open for business! Some restaurants were open. We tended to walk to the old town in the evening for food and drinks. Went into the hotel bar one night, not a lot to recommend it really as it is inside and has no windows! Running was possible in the streets around the hotel and towards the old town. Supermarket just across the road for all your essentials. Coffee shop across road called the Croissant does excellent coffee and breakfast too.

Location good but everything else not great!

Review by goma786 Manchester, United Kingdom

We had an apartment. The first apartment we were placed in wouldn’t lock and the beds were two single beds pushed together although I had asked for a single beds via email and they had confirmed this. I went to reception and was told they couldn’t do anything about it until the morning, however, I refused to stay in a room that had no lock and I didn’t want to share bed...

We were then moved to another room that once again had two double beds pushed together but this time locked. I went back to reception and asked for an extra duvet and bed sheet so that I could move the beds myself. We then found that we had no air con remote which I had to get in the morning, first night no sleep because of humidity. The apartment was spacious, however, not very clean. It seemed dusty. The view was of other apartments so not nice. The location was good as it was in the middle often strip and old town. 15 minute walk to the beach. Walking back from the beach wasn’t great as it was uphill but if you don’t mind that, you are good. The hotel jacuzzi and hot tub was closed because of covid, however, we were not advised this before arrival. The shuttle bus to the beach was also not on which once again wasn’t advised when booking. The staff weren’t great, except one guy on reception in the afternoon. I asked one of the ladies on reception for a late check out and she didn’t even look at the system and said no that they were too busy, however, the morning of check out, another staff member gave us an hour late check out. Ironically, I left something at the hotel and went back to get it at 6:30pm after I had checked out at 12 and I was advised that I was lucky as the room hadn’t been cleaned so why couldn’t I have had the two hour late check out which was explained by the nice guy. If you are looking for something that’s decent sized, not so clean and a good location, this place is for you but if you are looking for something nicer this isn’t for you.
