This hotel has a nice swimming pool...that's all! Almost no service, no efforts from management (no safety for the kid's beds, no late check-out without paying for an extra night...). The swimming pool is often not clean (birds feathers, used masks - in fact there are often birds in the pool and bird feaces on the sie of th pool). There are no personal around the pool during the day...
The apartments are old, not isolated, the restaurant is closed "due to Covid" (I don't see the connexion), The bar has almost nothing to sell as most on the card is not available. We really had to ask for cleaning of the appartement (once again, "due to Covid" this was not done). We would not return to this hotel, managed with laziness and not customer-oriented.
we stayed for one week between 17-24th sept 2020 and were impressed. after much deliberation and cancelling to portugal and pateo apartments via british Airways after travel corridor closed we decided to re-book and go. the apartments are very spacious, old in style and alittle tired but offered everything you required for self catering kitchen wise. it was explained up front that no cleaning/access to rooms would happen during the stay but extra towels, bedding etc would be left outside your door naturally or on request. same with bins, place used binbag outside and new bin bag etc would be left...
you had to be masked to enter reception and we saw plenty of staff masked during cleaning at end of stays etc. the robot type pool cleaner was used every day for around 3 hrs, the sunbeds were sprayed sometimes twice a day, grounds people and security were around frequently and as our room was facing the pool on ground floor it was great to look on to from private patio area both day and evening. the pool and trees were lit in the evening which looked pretty and i suppose because of covid it was pretty quiet. The indoor pool/Jacuzzi and snackbar area was closed during our stay but we were advised of this via BA. it suited us to be out of town and i suppose to get to old town it took 15-20 minutes. if you didnt want to go too far there was plenty of snackbars and restaurants within 5-10 mins and a small supermarket at the bottom of the road. Lidl and Aldi were about five minutes away by car, good 25 mins and mostly uphill on foot. If you have trouble walking you would definitely need a vehicle but for us it was close enough to walk to the beach and town but far away to be out of the town zone. we were very impressed with the rules at pateo and portugal regarding covid and found that their restrictions and rules at the beach/restaurants and supermarket were far stricter then ares from the UK, i would happily go back and it was well worth the 2 weeks quarantine for this well needed break - thank you Pateo
We have just had 3 weeks self catering in these lovely apartments. They are very well equipped the staff are friendly. Clean towels are provided daily along with house keeping 5 days a week...
There is a jacuzzi and indoor heated pool which was a bonus. Everywhere is clean and tidy. I highly recommend Pateo Village.
We stayed here as a family for 14 nights. We flew out the first week foreign travel was allowed from the UK, we booked through TUI. The Pateo village apartments are very basic to say the least, the bathroom was quite shabby and the rest of the decor and furniture was very dated and in desperate need of refurbishment...
Room cleaning was not being carried out due to Covid restrictions still in place, however we were given a sweeping brush/mop to do this ourselves so at least we could keep the place clean. Clean towels, bedding and toilet paper was available on request. The apartments were large with air conditioning.
The apartments are located at the top of a hill approximately 15 minutes from the old town and beach, no problem walking for us, in fact it’s very much needed with all the extra calories consumed! Aldi and Lidl are about a 20 minute walk away but we did get a taxi back.
The pool area was clean and spacious, there is also an indoor pool, again some TLC needed...lots of sun beds available , but always covered in bird muck, I acquired 2 for our ground floor terrace, disinfected them and kept them for our entire stay not only for this reason but also the Covid situation.
We don’t go on holiday to stay in at night and why would you when there’s So many fantastic places to eat and with some stunning views.
We have just returned home and this was exactly the break we needed. What you need to know , the complex is set in a hill (very very steep) so ideally you need a car or to use taxis factor this in to your holiday cost was around €14 a day if you want to go to town and back. It’s worth a trip to a big supermarket to get everything you need we went to continente modello which was brilliant The beds in the apartment are not the best but saying that we’ve all relaxed and managed to sleep well. I recommend ground floor apartment as you can sunbathe outside your room and just pop in and out for drinks etc Pools are a little cold but there is a fantastic indoor pool, this was so great for families and all children staying here just hung out together and played as a group (makes for very relaxed parents) It feels really safe , staff were all lovely and the little coffee shop does a decent selection of food great for breakfast and lunch. We were lucky to be here when there is a curfew in town so no one came back to their room after 10.30, made for a very quiet stay . You are not permitted to play music around the pool , wear your headphones again making for quiet relaxation. You can sunbathe till 8/8.30pm as it remains warm , not experienced this before - sitting on your patio with a drink on an evening was just bliss Finally download and use Uber eat app before you go, it works brilliantly in Portugal with a great range of deliveries available, great for the odd night in Huge thank you to the manager at the Ouratlantico apartments who couldn’t accommodate us and sent us here , best holiday we’ve had in a long time x
If you do go there are 2 lovely black cats (one very very friendly ) it would be lovely just to give them some food while you are visiting
