A Real review for the Real Bella Vista

Okay so some context - I was in a group of 6 guys all aged 25, staying to play some golf. We had booked 3 rooms, all inclusive, for 5 days.

Our first impression from the reception was not the best...

I understand that we are 6 young guys walking in, but we were dressed respectfully, not loud or rowdy. However, some of the first words out of the receptionists mouth were “please read the rules and sign” essentially, we were signing to say if we made too much noise we will be kicked out.

Now, I might be wrong, but I doubt every guest checking in gets the same greeting. The topic of rules could’ve easily been brought up in a far less disrespectful manner, and after a warmer welcome.

Moving past this, we received our room keys, our request to have the 3 rooms close to each other was arranged which was great. The rooms themselves were very nice; clean, modern enough and comfortable. Nice big bathrooms, very powerful shower, TV and a nice enough balcony. The A/C was something to be desired, as this was not very powerful and not very cold. A handheld paper fan could’ve provided better circulation.

The restaurant. So overall the restaurant was average, but It served its purpose. Really not much to choose from but did have some nice options. The real highlight was the pineapple! This was available breakfast, lunch and dinner, and was simply Devine. Probably the best reason I’d go back to this hotel. Wine, beer, Sangria, and soft drinks all on tap for you to help yourself which was taken advantage of. The snacks that were served throughout the day, really were lacking. Some pizza, soggy chips, and some (actually decent) ham and cheese baguettes were on offer each day.

As we were out golfing in the days, the hotel did provide us with lunch bags to take away with us, which was a nice touch.

The Bar. The pool side bar was basic. Couldn’t go wrong with the Super Bock larger on tap and the sangria was good but rather weak. Only 4 cocktails available on the all inclusive and these too, we’re served very weak. The major downside to the bar was a silly rule of only allowing 1 person to collect 2 drinks at a time. So as a group of 6, 3 of us had to go to the bar to get us all a drink. This was seriously frustrating as it would make no difference if 1 person collected 6 drinks or 3 people collected 2 each…

The Pool. Baltic. Refreshing for a dip and a few lengths, but any longer and hypothermia almost certainly sets in.

Entertainment. Now I would say the entertainment was fantastic.. but only because we had to provide our own and I think our banter ended up providing other guests entertainment also. We were offered table tennis one day, and a workout on another… and that was it. The evening entertainment was average. Your usual bit of singing which was a laugh, and we even had a reptile show. However, when the first ‘reptile’ shown was a Tarantula, you have to lose faith in the rest of the show. Ended up leaving pretty sharpish.

Location. Great location really. Can walk to both the old and new town for bars, clubs and restaurants which was ideal, or a taxi was always available and very cheap! For the golf, it was pretty centrally located to the courses we were playing to the transfers were all reasonable.

The staff. Other than the welcome from reception as mentioned, the staff were nice. Restaurant staff were attentive and cleared plates quickly. The bar staff were nice and engaged in some conversation with us on a few occasions which was welcomed. The housekeeping was great and always returned to a clean and fresh room.

Overall, the Real Bella Vista was a good enough hotel for what we needed/wanted, but would look elsewhere if you want more from your hotel. Nice rooms, average food, average bar and average entertainment.

Not sure who gave them a 4* rating as is a 3* hotel at best.

The hotel is immaculate and the staff are generally pretty friendly, the rooms were cleaned spotlessly and fresh towels daily. (10/10 for the maids/cleaners) We were all inclusive and thought the food could have been better and more varied. Not a good choice at all for kids The drinks (alcoholic) seemed really really weak (the beer (super bock)was ok) The shops are about a 10 minute walk down the hill so if you struggle with mobility it may be a struggle.

Great happy staff Great food Great room Great gym Great pools AC was not great

What a wonderful place to stay. It is in a quiet location but only 15 mins walk to the strip or the old town. Best service I have had in a hotel for a very long time.

Very disrespectful hotel

Wel we’re do I begin with this one. Wel me and my partner arrived at the hotel around 1.30 pm on Saturday, bit early but staff were helpful at this point and let us use there facilities and sit around the pool until the room was ready. We ended up having a couple of drinks the first night and I am a lad with ginger hair and at around 12 am Sunday I feel really I’ll in the room at first I thought it was the beer but then I relized that it was a bit more serious I was dehydrated and caught sunstoke, at this point I’d been throwing up none stop for 2 hours and desperately needed water and could not drink the tap water as I’m from uk...

We were all inclusive I knew the bar had shut but we thought water they must have my patent went down to reception to ask for water and she was refused !! So she came back up and told me I was still throwing up another hour went passed she went down again to say I’m really I’ll o need it ! Still refused ! Breakfast starts at 7 so she went down again at like 6.40 we’re everything was set up out and they still refused me water !!!!!! Ar this point I had to drink the tap water I had no choice Wel that or hospital!!! It made me worse and couldn’t hold it down. Eventually I stopped and got to sleep we stayed out of the sun on Sunday and had no beer whatsoever we had food and a film and chilled. No had mentioned the night before to us. Monday arrived and I felt a lot better so me and the partner head down to the beach and had a few cocktails before returning to the hotel to get changed and go out. We must have been in our room for about 30 minz and there was a knock on the door it was the manager with security witch I was baffled about I asked what it’s about and they said they had staff complaining about my partner comeing down and asking for water yes she was pissed of but not aggressive my partner is 5foot 2 a slim built and couldn’t harm a fly so I told them the situation and the manager was having none off it threating to kick us out and walked away I was really confused so I went down to reception to explain to them how I’ll I was ! As I arrived at reception they had called the police to give us a warning not kick us out. They took pics of our passport. After this we dident feel comfortable in the hotel so we decided to leave 3 night early and cheeked out on ar own accord. Some of the staff were friendly but the majority wasent not with us the bar staff at the pool would be looking up and down at your partner not even being desgrit about it witch isent nice there was also no air con plus the fridge dident work they gave us 2 single beds when we asked for a double. If you want to go portugal from uk I would avoid this hotel there are many better ones around ! As we got another hotel this was our anniversary holiday and they spoilt it for us
