The Westin Salgados Beach Resort

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. It was nowhere near the standard I expected from this brand.

The cleanliness was unacceptable. There was hair all over the floor when we arrived, making it obvious that the room had not been properly cleaned. To make matters worse, we even found hair in the food we ordered, which was completely unacceptable and very concerning.

I sent several emails to Marriott Customer Service but did not receive any assistance. As a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, I found the level of customer service extremely disappointing.

There was also a persistent sewage smell in the room throughout our stay, making it difficult to relax. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and despite reporting these issues, they were not resolved satisfactorily.

The overall service was disappointing, with little attention given to our concerns. This was far from the quality and hospitality I expected, and it significantly impacted our vacation.

Unfortunately, I would not stay at this property again, nor would I recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable hotel experience.

I’m used to staying at Marriott properties, and this is probably one of the best resorts I’ve been to in Europe.

It’s simply wonderful — waking up and going for a run surrounded by nature, the beach, and a natural reserve with flamingos is such a unique experience.

Breakfast is served in a beautiful setting, with omelettes, cheeses and cured meats, hive honey, delicious fruit, and a hand-made latte or cappuccino with Nespresso. Simply wonderful. Breakfast also runs later into the morning, which is ideal for families with kids like mine.

Afterwards, a swim is just a minute’s walk away via the boardwalk — the beach is practically private, as almost only hotel guests have access. The sea was 21°C in early July, perfect for cooling off. The hotel has around 400 sun loungers spread across 5 large pools distributed throughout the resort. I asked staff if the hotel was full — they said yes, but since guests are out doing activities (beach, golf, sightseeing), it feels quite empty.

Lunch was grilled fish at a beautiful outdoor restaurant with sea and pool views — calm, relaxing atmosphere.

The rooms and staff are wonderful — you can tell this will become one of the best Westins soon, especially since it seems to have only recently become a Westin property. The view from our room was fantastic, and the kids loved it.

The airport is just 30 minutes away.

This has become one of my top 3 places to relax and enjoy with family in Europe. Truly wonderful!

É simplesmente maravilhoso — acordar e ir dar uma corrida rodeado de natureza, praia e uma reserva natural com flamingos é uma experiência única.

O pequeno-almoço é servido num sítio maravilhoso, com omeletes, queijos e presuntos, mel da hive, frutas deliciosas, e um latte ou cappuccino feito à mão com Nespresso. Simplesmente maravilhoso. O pequeno-almoço também se prolonga até mais tarde, o que é ideal para famílias com crianças como a minha.

Depois, um mergulho fica a apenas 1 minuto a pé pelo passadiço — a praia é praticamente privada, já que quase só os hóspedes do hotel têm acesso. A água estava a 21°C no início de julho, perfeita para refrescar. O hotel tem cerca de 400 espreguiçadeiras espalhadas por 5 piscinas bem grandes e distribuídas pelo resort. Perguntei se o hotel estava cheio — disseram que sim, mas como as pessoas andam em atividades (praia, golfe, passeios), parece bastante vazio.

O almoço foi peixe grelhado num restaurante exterior lindíssimo, com vista para o mar e a piscina — ambiente calmo e relaxante.

Os quartos e as pessoas são maravilhosos — dá para perceber que este será em breve um dos melhores Westins, ainda para mais parece que se tornou Westin há pouco tempo. A vista do nosso quarto foi fantástica, e as crianças adoraram.

O aeroporto fica a apenas 30 minutos.

Tornou-se um dos meus top 3 para relaxar e aproveitar em família na Europa. Realmente maravilhoso!

We had a wonderful stay at The Westin Salgados and would happily return. The resort is beautiful, with immaculate gardens and public areas that are exceptionally well maintained. The breakfast was also very good, missed a fresh omelette station and gluten free section (like at Domes Lake). Wish we could order ice cream and small bites at the pool bar.. A very special mention goes to Ana at Reception, who is a true asset to the hotel. She was incredibly efficient, attentive, warm and genuinely committed to providing outstanding service throughout our stay. Team members like Ana make a real difference to the guest experience, she certainly deserves a pay rise! Wi-Fi could be improved particularly in the public areas of the resort. Looking forward to coming back.
