Faro

In the heart of Faro, the gateway to the Algarve: This contemporary style hotel is situated in the very centre of the city, overlooking the harbour and the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The historical and commercial centres with a large variety of restaurants, bars and shops are just a few steps away. Right next to the hotel is a bus stop providing easy access to the airport and the beautiful Faro Island with its sandy beach. This property offers 134 rooms overlooking the city view or marina views. In-room amenities include LCD TV, safe box, minibar, air conditioning, direct telephone, hair dryer and personal hygiene products. The hotel has restaurants serving local dishes while the bar offers contemporary and relaxed atmosphere with exotic drinks.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

THEY HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY GOING UPMARKET BUT!!!!

Review by BOB P Dunfermline, United Kingdom

The group have spent a lot of money doing the place up but not all good. The buffet restaurant is only open at lunchtime now. There are 2 new restaurants which are not run by the hotel...

The first is an Asian / Japanese which is the only restaurant that you can eat at for dinner if you have opted for Half Board. The food is very good but all dishes are very similar so you would not want to eat here for 7 nights as it would be boring. The second restaurant is an Argentinian style steak house. Once again very good but not included in your board option. This means that you have to have lunch in the buffet and eat out in the evening which is not ideal if the weather is wet. I suspect that in future it will be Bed and Breakfast only, with the option of lunch and dinner at an extra cost. We were not aware of these changes at the time of booking and have stayed here on 2 previous city breaks. At least I am making it quite obvious to folk of this new way of operations at the Eva.

Average hotel, very noisy!

I stayed with my husband at this hotel for 4 nights over the Easter weekend. We arrived at 10:30 am after an early morning flight. Unfortunately no room was available until 2pm...

We were able to leave our luggage and directed to a room to change in if we wished. This turned out to be a small toilet cubicle, so we didn’t bother. Our room was fairly basic but clean with a very comfortable bed. A bottle of water was left for us and tea/ coffee was provided. The bathroom was clean with a decent shower. The location overlooking the marina was fantastic for a short break and the five minute walk to the train station allowed us to visit the wider area. The main problem was excessive noise. A DJ played on the pavement outside for 2 nights until the early hours. With the doors to the balcony closed the noise problem was sorted however the room became very warm and stuffy and we slept very badly. The air conditioning was set to heat despite the temperature being 25 degrees. We did ask if a fan was available but this was never delivered. We paid for half board. Breakfast was ok but the dinner buffet was very poor. The dining room opened at 7 and food was left out all evening. Few people were eating, only one other couple the first evening and two the next. There was a choice of 3 main courses, all of which were Luke warm when we arrived at about 8pm. The buffet was only available the first two evenings and then closed during the week. We then ate in the small bar downstairs. I expected to be able to choose from the menu but were given no choice of either starter or desert. The main course a burrito was very strange, cold and inedible. For our final evening we decided to eat outside the hotel and found a lovely little traditional restaurant. We have stayed at a hotel just outside Albufeira owned by the same company which was excellent. Although the location of this hotel was good we were very disappointed by the hotel and would not stay again.

Good city hotel

Review by 565BarbaraB Abergele, United Kingdom

Overall this is a very nice hotel in an excellent location. We stayed here 10 years ago and returned on a Jet2 break. Some changes have been made to the hotel and the first one you notice is the reception...

This is a very muddled area with a bank of self check in desks being the prominent feature and behind this a reception desk almost not visible. There are rugs on the floor which are not good for suitcases and present a trip hazard. The staff are all very pleasant. Our marina facing room on the second floor was nice, not very large but had everything you need and a great view. One night we had a lot of noise outside so I guess this could be a problem in the summer. Breakfast was served on the top floor in a large room with panoramic views. Live piano music played most days and there was a good selection of dishes. Hot food was cold but then it always is on a buffet. Main problem here was the coffee machines which caused queuing and as they were touch button I thought this really unhygienic in the present covid situation. Other than these small niggles the hotel is well run and in a great position to explore Faro and surrounds.

Perfect city break

Review by WorldofDave2022 Ennis, Ireland

Perfect location right on the marina in Faro with sweeping views out to the sea and the old town. We had a balcony room on the 4th floor which was lovely and spacious. Very comfortable bed and plenty of amenities...

There is plenty of dining options with local food Asian and a steak house called Eva. The meal we had here was amazing. A tasting platter of 3 different steak cuts & sausage on a sharing board. The staff were extremely friendly and let us taste a couple of the wines before picking. Breakfast is on the 5th floor with large floor to ceiling windows. There was a large buffet selection to choose from. Live Piano playing to accompany breakfast was a lovely experience.

Couldn't be better

Review by DerekShmoo Colwyn Bay

Stayed for three nights in a second floor room. The room was well appointed with plenty of storage space. Check in was professional with the gentleman taking time to talk through the hotel facilities as well as reference key areas in town on a map...

Lovely views from the roof top and the 5th floor restaurant. We had a super stay and will definitely return again
