The hotel is very well located as close to the beach as possible. The rooms are very nice and roomy. Our was like a two room suite, but I think that’s standard here. They say most rooms are ocean view, but they aren’t on the first floor, which is where we were the first night. We paid an extra e 25.00 to move to a lateral ocean view, which is fine. The ocean fronts don’t gain you much in the way of views. The reception clerks are wonderful. They gave us great information and even booked some tours for us. The breakfast is pretty much just ok. Some days are better than others. It’s all buffet style. The only real complaint is the size of the soap they give you, it’s tiny. Bring your own bar. All that said, it was a great vacation. Forgot to say that there are probably 50 restaurants within walking distant. If you like steak, try the All Beef, just a short walk away.
Got here late to find they didn’t have the room we had booked !!!!! We booked a twin room and they put us in a double … at 12am we where exhausted and really just wanted to relax phoned reception she told us they didn’t have a room and would get us one In the morning to which I told her this wasn’t good enough we then had to go back down to reception ( with suitcases etc ) and she gave us a room with a double bed and sofa bed at this point we where too tired and just wanted a room so we accepted this , where told a room wound be available in the morning 5 days on and no one has offered another room or approached us to even ask if we wanted the twin room sofa bed is comfy enough so we are happy enough to stay in this room but we still should have been offered like said in the morning!! Hotel it’s self is lovely and spotless clean although our bathroom smells awful and seems to be smelling worse as days go on ( will speak to reception) The meal option isn’t great either it’s €25 per person not including drinks and I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money but lots of places around to eat etc ..
Writing this whilst by the pool on our last day of holiday.. hotel interior is beautiful, very tastefully decorated. Reception very quick and eager to please, however, I did ask for a pair of room slippers and was told these would be put in the room - they never were but not a problem.
Breakfast was great, warm not hot food choice of bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms. Cold choices of meats, salami, cheeses, tomato, cucumber, boiled eggs, melon, papaya, kiwi, yogurt, seeds, cereals, honey, jams, great variety of bread, pastries and homemade cakes.
Tea, coffee ,water and juices on tap.
We selected and paid extra for sea view room which really is lovely. Room decent size with balcony and seating. Ample storage. Tea/ coffee making facilities which was always replenished. Bathroom was smaller than expected but adequate- there was a smell in there but once you ran the taps in sink and shower this disappeared. We did have a problem with our toilet whereas it would not stop flushing- Reception dealt with it within 20mins of being told - Excellent service 👏
We did not dine at the hotel in the evening so cannot comment.
Large towels for use around the pool are obtained at the reception and can be changed every 2 days.
2 pools, one with snack bar and bar area which was reasonably priced. Very polite staff in all areas of the hotel.
Close to beaches, restaurants and shops. Bus stop just outside the hotel which was great to go further afield without hiring a car.
Lovely quiet hotel that we hope to book again. Thank you
Two thoughts on this review. The good and the very bad. The hotel and staff were very good. Hotel is modern looking and very comfortable. The included breakfast was exceptionaly good. The pool was nice and refreshing. It is not heated and it was fine to cool off from the hot weather we were experiencing. Lots of easy walking to local cafes and restaurents and beatuiful beaches. All in all a very good time there. Now the bad comment. Upon our late night arrival after 10pm (there was an unexpected detour required off of the Alfa Pendular High Speed Train, necessitating the use of a bus and then another train) then a last bus to get to the hotel, we were able to get checked in quickly with the efficient front desk staff. Alas, food availability was sparce, as most of the walking distance restaurents were closed or closing. Front desk staff stated that the hotel bar would be serving food until midnight. Sounded good. The four of us got ourselves a spot in the bar area and then proceeded to order some drinks and food. Simple enough, although it was quickly obvious that they were vastly understaffed and overwhelmed by the number of people who had just arrived. Whatever, we were not in a rush. Drinks took considerable time to arrive and the food took much longer. My 11 Euro cheeseburger was a joke. Cold bun with a thin slab of meat with an unmelted slice of processed cheese on top. My wife's cheeseburger was the same. Seems we did well. My travelling companion got his cheeseburger and the bun was grilled for some reason and the meat and cheese were burnt to a crisp. Photo included in this review to remove any doubts about food quality. When the burnt cheesburger was brought back to the server (bartender), it was met with just a shrug of the shoulders. No apology or offer of some form of reinbursement. Welcome to Turim Presidente. We decided at that moment not to purchase anymore food from the hotel, for fear of inferior chefs or wannabe cooks. The included breakfast was great, so we think that someone who was totaly unqualified, had attempted to be the master of the kitchen during that late night bar food experience. Too bad, as it ruined our initiation to the hotel, especially considering the cost for a cheeseburger. Later, during our stay in Portimao, I had the pleasure of having a cheeseburger at one of the local restaurents, Rock Sports Bar. It was fabulous. Photo also included to display what a real cheesburger should look like.
Nice, clean hotel, steps from the cliffs near Praiha de Amado beach. A 15min walk from Praiha da Rocha & all the restos & shops. 45min walk from downtown Portimao, if you're inclined. Breakfast is a nice spread of continental & standard eggs, etc, and always a few pastel de natas! Pool on site as well, friendly, helpful staff.
