This modern hotel is situated in the popular holiday resort of Vilamoura, only a few steps from the casino and the internationally renowned marina. A fabulous first time ever in Vilamoura the week spent here 16th to 23rd June. From arriving and getting our room at 12.15 when we got there staff were outstanding throughout the hotel. Superior room with fantastic sea view was huge and outstanding. We only had breakfast to explore more but it was superb with a lot of freshly baked items on demand. They even remembered a birthday supplying free chocolate cake and wine. we will be back and real value you for money and quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Pools were chilled and numerous and no panicKing to get sunbeds unlike many Spanish hotels with no deposits required. Beach was 80 metres away with a cheap beach club there for food and drinks. Totally recomend this hotel
Mixed. The Vila Gale in Villamoura had some good points and bad points. The reception staff were great and seemed genuinely interested in helping you. We had a front facing room on the 4th floor. The view was beautiful and the room was lovely with a lovely balcony. The problem was it was so windy we could not sit on the balcony the whole week because if you did it chilled you to the bone. When it did ease up and tried to sit out the loud disco noise from the right of us started so we gave up on that. We went in May so this might be refreshing later in the season so it is probably a changeable thing but the disco noise later in the season goes on a lot more, I am told. The breakfast was ok but evening meals according to some guests were awful so can,t say myself. The pools are mixed. The 2 front ones are relaxing on the loungers but you can,t get in them because they are freezing cold (in May) and extremely windy with being on the front. There is another outside pool on the back of the hotel which is smaller so is ok to have a swim but, there is a slide at the side which seems to suck water up from some machine and makes an awful noise, all the time! It sounded like you were sat next to a cement mixer, so gave up on that. So, I tried the indoor pool, now it is very nice, not too overheated but pleasant, but, to get in to the pool are massive steps, which really are dangerousness, I am not an older person but had to watch how I got up them. This is a hotel that I believe suits different people at different months of the year, but if you do want a swim you cannot guarantee one in May. Location is fine, you are well located for shops, restaurants, pubs and a general spar. The hospital is 5 minutes away. Villamoura is a nice place, I would go back again but not to that hotel.
I think this is my 8th visit for a 5 night golf trip with friends. When I first went the hotel was in need of improvement and over the years has done so. The rooms have been decorated, the safe is now free, the bathroom has walk in shower and the beds are extremely comfortable with a pillow menu (better than the 5 star across the road that I stayed in high after here). The staff, especially reception are great. The new dining room and breakfast layout is a great improvement on previous years, if not a bit bright. All in all, this is better than most of the other 4 star hotels around.
Myself and my wife stayed here in a sea view room and what a lovely stay we had. Staff cannot do enough for you. Can’t wait to return.
Where do I start:
I’m looking forward to leaving. How sad to say that about a holiday.
