The lovely sandy beach is less than a minute, the resort centre with its large variety of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops is less than 5 minutes away. Several excellent golf courses are within easy reach, Faro International Airport can be reached within 30 minutes by car.

Great hotel
We couldn’t fault this hotel at all. It’s really lovely. We had a suite with a sea view, it was a huge room with 2 double beds in, small kitchen area, dining table and a sofa area. We had so much room it was brilliant. What an amazing view looking out over the beach (you can hear music from the beach club over the road but we didn’t mind it at all as we weren’t in the room during the day) Breakfast was great, lots of choice and all lovely a fresh. The pool area is lovely. They have 2 main pools and a little kids splash pool with some slides. We used the main pool by the bar/lunch restaurant and it was never crowded. We never really had any trouble getting sunbeds and the entertainment team came round a few times and did water polo and water sports with the kids, which was great. They did water fights etc round by the little kids pool. We only had breakfast at the hotel as there are so many nice restaurants around the marina but the food looked great for dinner at the hotel & the entertainment looked fun. We played on the football pitch in the evenings as it was too hot in the day to run around! There was always a few kids playing in the evening which my little boy loved. I would 100% come back and stay at this hotel again. It’s in such a good location too, 5 minutes to the Marina, just across the road from the beach. There’s a spar just round the corner if you want to get waters, drinks, snacks etc. my other half was sceptical about this hotel from some of the reviews, and he loved it. His saying of the week was how “pleasantly surprised” how lovely it was! We will stay here again on our next visit to Vilamoura, our stay was perfect!

Great hotel by the beach
We have been using this hotel for our annual golf trip now for over 10 years. As always the staff were great and in particular Ines Alao. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Vilamoura.
Noisy hotel
Lovely hotel in a great location, the main issue is noise disturbance. We had a harbour facing room on the 10th floor and the music from other establishments is overwhelming. The beach club next door blasts out music from lunch time to 7pm every day, which meant we could not have a relaxing drink on the balcony. Then there is a night club just nearby that blasts out dance music till the early hours of the morning, it’s so loud we did not sleep well. From the ground the music doesn’t seem so bad, but on the 10th floor it carries. I’ve been to this hotel several times and never had a problem, I think the authorities need to sort out this noise nuisance. Not everyone is here to party every night until the early hours.
Perfect location
Stayed at the Ampalius many times over the past 20 years ... Perfect location 2 mins to beach and 5 mins to Marina. Hotel very clean and staff friendly. We were left a beautiful fruit platter..wine and nata s as mentioned was in the industry which was very kind. Would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again for sure. Thank you

Excellent location right beside the beach. A 2-minute walk to the beach where there is a cafe and toilets, sun loungers and parasols (additional cost of approx €35 per day). Nice big rooms that are kept spotlessly clean throughout your stay. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with a huge selection to choose from. The freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh pastries are great. Staff are very attentive and constantly refilling everything and clearing tables. The pools are nice with plenty of sun beds available throughout the day so no rush to reserve them. The pool area is clean and safe. They gave us a birthday cake and bottle of wine during our stay but we hadn’t said it was my friend’s birthday so they noticed from the passports on check-in and arranged it - a really lovely gesture. Overall, a great hotel and I would stay here again.
