Funchal

Madeira's capital, Funchal, is a beautiful and varied destination, giving you a little bit of everything that Madeira has to offer. With its combination of new hotels and classic old world charm; its varied shops and its elegant architecture, it's the sort of place you can explore for weeks without ever tiring of it. The Dorisol Mimosa Hotel offers a great alternative to the usual hotel accommodation. Instead of hotel rooms, you'll enjoy superb apartments, each with a wonderful array of amenities. In fact, when you stay at the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel you also get access to all the extra amenities provided by its sister hotel, the Dorisol Estrelicia.

Enjoy comfortable apartment living in fashionable Funchal:

Traditional hotel rooms – no matter how wonderful they might be – can feel a little bit samey. That's one of the joys of the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel. Each of its wonderfully appointed studios gives you a real home away from home feeling. With its own kitchenette and en suite bathroom, you'll be able to enjoy all the comforts of hotel standard amenities as well as all the convenience of doing things your way.

Comfort is everything on a holiday to Madeira. And that's another big advantage of the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel. Instead of breakfast at the hotel restaurant, why not dine al fresco? Each apartment features a balcony – and it's a wonderful spot for luxuriating and really making the most of the lazier holiday lifestyle.

With its own impressive facilities (as well as those of the Dorisol Estrelicia) you'll have absolutely everything you'd expect of the very best Funchal resort, including an excellent outdoor pool (and children's pool) – and the seaside Lido with its large saltwater pool is close at hand.

You'll have lots more top notch leisure facilities on hand too – an indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as tennis and games. There's even a regular programme of entertainment for you to enjoy.

Staying at the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel lets you do things your way. Each comfortable apartment is a holiday haven – and a perfect base for exploring Funchal and Madeira. With so many wonderful facilities at your disposal, you'll have no excuse not to relax.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Great value hotel with great views

Review by Danny G Halesowen, United Kingdom

Thank you for a fantastic first stay on the island. The hotel was very accommodating with some last minute changes and for the accommodation and breakfast I think very good value for money. Overall very impressed with the hotel...

Reception area is spacious and welcoming but found big lines at times to see someone with only 1 person to handle 2 hotels in reality. The pool area and facilities are perfect. The indoor pool warm and with beautiful tropical views really felt like heaven. The outdoor pool was great and made use of it. The pool bar was good but I think the drinks a little expensive. Onto the room and I cannot fault it everything you could want clean and modern. The bed was big and comfortable and a good shower. The balcony was Also great to relax on. Didn't use the gym or spa facilities so can't comment there but nice to know they were there. Went out both evenings so again can't comment on indoor bar or entertainment options but both again are there. Onto the food provision breakfast was great and very good value. Good selection of hot or cold options as well as fruits etc everything to meet the tastes for people from most countries. For breakfast it was very busy and struggle to get a table and the coffee and juice options I did think was poor quality but for the cost of breakfast can't really moan too much. I did have evening meal on night 1 and food the food to be of good quality and warm. Plenty of options to eat but once again expensive. We went out twice to a local restaurant and had a 3 course meal for €8.90 with drinks cheaper too so I'd personally recommend eating out. Overall excellent hotel and will certainly visit again thank you to all of the staff for a fantastic stay

Enjoyable stay!

Review by Claire R East Midlands, United Kingdom

Good hotel facilities for price ratio. Staff were courteous and friendly. Our room was spacious , clean and modern with a lovely balcony sea view...

It had everything that we needed with plenty of storage space. We were let down very last minute with our accommodation for a family holiday and the hotel was able to accommodate us in rooms close together which was appreciated. Downside, the bed was not 100% comfortable and didn't enjoy having to pay extra for a room safe.

Great views

Stayed here for 3 weeks bed and breakfast, room spacious , sunny balcony and views of the sunset. The hotel is on a hill but it’s a nice walk into Funchal and we got the bus back and if you get the 24 bus it stops at the back of the hotel at the top of the hill. Indoor pool is good. Wi if works well everywhere. Outdoor pool area good Staff are great

Great week spent in Funchal

Review by phobic1d Sundridge, Canada

Had a lovely 9 day stay. The room was plenty big enough, excellent views over the Atlantic. Excellent COVID protocols, made to feel safe and comfortable...

Special acknowledgement to Tito for his help with PCR test requirements. He went above and beyond and it was very appreciated. Also wanted to mention Catia and her help with the shuttles. The young chef (don’t remember his name) also was very helpful and accommodating. The food for breakfast and the European buffets for dinner was plentiful and delicious.
