Madeira's capital, Funchal, is a beautiful and varied destination, giving you a little bit of everything that Madeira has to offer. With its combination of new hotels and classic old world charm; its varied shops and its elegant architecture, it's the sort of place you can explore for weeks without ever tiring of it. The Dorisol Mimosa Hotel offers a great alternative to the usual hotel accommodation. Instead of hotel rooms, you'll enjoy superb apartments, each with a wonderful array of amenities. In fact, when you stay at the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel you also get access to all the extra amenities provided by its sister hotel, the Dorisol Estrelicia.
Traditional hotel rooms – no matter how wonderful they might be – can feel a little bit samey. That's one of the joys of the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel. Each of its wonderfully appointed studios gives you a real home away from home feeling. With its own kitchenette and en suite bathroom, you'll be able to enjoy all the comforts of hotel standard amenities as well as all the convenience of doing things your way.
Comfort is everything on a holiday to Madeira. And that's another big advantage of the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel. Instead of breakfast at the hotel restaurant, why not dine al fresco? Each apartment features a balcony – and it's a wonderful spot for luxuriating and really making the most of the lazier holiday lifestyle.
With its own impressive facilities (as well as those of the Dorisol Estrelicia) you'll have absolutely everything you'd expect of the very best Funchal resort, including an excellent outdoor pool (and children's pool) – and the seaside Lido with its large saltwater pool is close at hand.
You'll have lots more top notch leisure facilities on hand too – an indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as tennis and games. There's even a regular programme of entertainment for you to enjoy.
Staying at the Dorisol Mimosa Hotel lets you do things your way. Each comfortable apartment is a holiday haven – and a perfect base for exploring Funchal and Madeira. With so many wonderful facilities at your disposal, you'll have no excuse not to relax.
The Dorisol Mimosa is next door to its sister hotel the Dorisol Estrelicia in Funchal. Offering studio accommodation instead of traditional hotel rooms, it provides a useful alternative for holidaymakers. It shares many of the facilities with the Dorisol Estrelicia and has the same convenience of access to Funchal and the seaside Lido with its large saltwater pool.
What can I say ....very good hotel..staff amazing...20 mi walk to Funchal city...room great and very clean cannot fault it ...not sure why there are not good reviews on the internet...Dorisol is 3 star ..Should be four star ..yes hills but ..its Madeira..if you dont want hills etc ...stay at home...if you dont like the food carry on eating your Donna kebab takeaway..AT HOME ...LOVED IT HERE AT THE DORISOL HOTEL MADEIRA..ABRIGADO
We have stayed here 5 times out of 6 visits to Madeira since 2014. They have received feedback from me both at the time and here, on Tripadvisor. Dorisol seem to be paying attention too.The staff have always been very nice and there was no difference in our most recent visit...
However, there has been a lot of decorating and refurbishment, the wifi is now free and available throughout the hotel. Overall this place just keeps improving. Plain, clean, comfy. I am a very happy customer.
Very nice clean aparthotel. All staff were friendly, rooms were clean and the facilities were good. Possible issues for people with poor mobility as it's at the top of a hill, but there is a complimentary buggy if you struggle...
Would definitely stay again.
We stayed for two weeks bed and breakfast over Xmas and New Year. The room was ok sized, clean and well serviced. Compact sink, hob and fridge was a good addition in the room and was supplied with plates, glasses and cutlery...
Also the tv was good with a decent choice of channels. There is a roof fan for cooling which is quiet and ample. No air conditioning. The hotel is at the top of quite a steep entry hill but a buggy is provided from lower sister hotel if required. The buffet breakfast, well, let’s just leave it at well? The hotel is situated in the Lido area of Funchal and is a good 30 min walk from the Marina but has a good bus service at the bottom of the hill. The hotel area has plenty of restaurants and shops and good level walks can be had from the main drag, around a five minute walk down hill from the hotel. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would go back to this hotel.
I were on a 7 nights B&B stay in this hotel during Christmas period with Jet2 Holiday. The hotel itself is located far from Funchal, around 20-30 minutes walking or by public transport. The local area is actually full or hotels/ resorts, supermarkets and restaurants, where tourists stayed here...
There were quite a lot of travel agents around the area, offering cheap Day Trips to several places in the island.
The hotel itself is a bit old and updated, but our room was newly refurbished and actually looked newer than pictures. The stay/ sleep was very pleasant and room came with full kitchenette facilities, where you can prepare your own meals. There are two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), tennis court, sauna, etc. On the rooftop of the hotel, the view over sea/ mountains and Funchal was very pretty.
We were on B&B, but there were plenty of restaurants/ supermarkets around the area, so not a problem for us to have lunch and dinners. Breakfast however, certainly need improvement as the choice was limited and same everyday. Taste wasn't great, but you can fill your stomach if you are not too choosy. Staff were OK, some friendlier than the others. Most guests staying in this hotel were from all over Europe, not restricted to one or two countries.
