Holiday we'd love to return to
We stayed as a family celebrating a 70th birthday. We were given 2 ajoining rooms on the top floor with a beautiful large balcony. It was perfect for all spending time together but with our own privacy. The hotel is fantastic & we all left saying we'd return. We arrived the week before half term & there was only 1 child for the main duration of our stay. A couple of days before we were due to leave influx of families appeared. It changed the vibe but wasnt a deal breaker at all. Rooms were very clean, comfortable & well maintained. Our balcony did have some broken glass but it wasnt visible so assuming it had been cleared up & was just tiny shards left. We did the east trip which we booked via reception. High recommend that it was a full day 9-5 & our guide spoke the entire day. We also booked a boat trip via the little office next to the padel/soft play, turn right from the hotel rear exit. That was good as we saw whales & dolphins within seconds of leaving the marina. Easy walk to funchal & back. We also walked the opposite way & through the caves to the pebble beach. Food was perfect at the hotel, different themes daily. Always found a great selection to eat including our vegetarian guest. The takeaway bag was great at breakfast to make a little lunch up to take with us on our trip days. Just ask a member of staff for one. Estevao our waiter was fantastic, how he remembers your drinks order precisely I'll never know. They kindly bought out a cake & sang to celebrate the 70th birthday, lovely touch. You can exit the rear of the hotel to the right using your room key which was very handy. Everyone on the island was friendly, we all commented on how welcoming the island is. We age range from 40-85 & all enjoyed the holiday.
Good hotel, could be excellent.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom family suite for a week as a family of four. The suite was large and kept very clean. The balcony for the family suites are not great as there is no view whatsoever, they are set back about 15m from the edge. Perhaps we should have just booked two rooms rather than upgraded to the suite.
The food is good, lots of choice, the main restaurant is very well staffed and they are attentive and friendly.
Bar staff are very good, never waited to be served. Lots of choice available.
There are lots of nice places to sit around in the evenings. It didn’t feel busy.
Reception staff are a little inconsistent, Carla was always very helpful but others seemed to feel guests were an inconvenience.
Despite the no sunbed reservation rule the hotel do not enforce this at all which is not what you expect from a higher quality hotel. That’s a bit of a let down as families would reserve sunbeds for the whole day and use them for just an hour in the later afternoon. On all but one day you could still find a few sunbeds but they would be in the shady areas.
Staff do not enforce the no smoking rule by the pool. Why people think that’s OK with kids around is beyond me. For these reasons alone we would not visit again. If you don’t worry about this kind of thing then it’s great choice.

Supurb Hotel
Best holiday ever. Classy and very clean. Food and service excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Can’t think of any other package holiday that has been nicer. Truly grateful we stayed there.

Excellent hotel, needs a few tweaks
We have returned home from our third visit! We loved it just as much as previous visits and were greeted in our room with a bottle of prosecco after requesting a specific room for our 10th wedding anniversary.
Our holiday overall was just as good as previous visits (reviewed previously if you want to read!)
Something which would have improved our experience this time around is enforcement of rules in and around the pool. We experienced people smoking and vaping around the pool which I don't agree with, particularly as someone who suffers with asthma. Also, some behaviour in the pool wasn't challenged for example a group of boys accessing the (very popular) aqua gym, and using the foam noodles to smack each other rather than participate in the session. We also saw a group of people taking wine glasses of poncha into the swimming pool and lining them up on the 'infinity' edge of the pool. I reported this, but they still continued.
A suggestion I would make is for the pool area to receive deeper cleaning as it was extremely slippery around the edge - 2 adults fell over requring first aid and then hospital treatment, within 10 mins of each other!
I can't base my rating on the behaviour of other guests, however I am basing it on the lack of anything being done about it!
Everything from my previous reviews still stand, but on this occasion I felt standards had slipped in comparison.
Two things I have to mention - the food still remains absolutely amazing, the best we have ever had on holiday. And finally, our waiter, Shyam, who remembers us from last year, is one of the loveliest people you could ever meet. Always had our drinks waiting for us at breakfast and dinner, and was very friendly with our 6 year old, who said "I'm going to miss Shyam when we go home!"

This hotel is absolutely amazing. Let’s be clear — I am high maintenance and very hard to impress 😂, but this hotel really did impress me. I honestly don’t think I was upset or disappointed even once during our 12-day stay, which says a lot!
🧹 Cleaning
The hotel was spotless everywhere. The housekeeping team seemed to be cleaning all day!
We requested our room to be cleaned every day simply because I like to be spoiled with fresh towels and a beautifully made bed every day. And every single day, our room was absolutely spotless.
The housekeeping team even found out that it was my birthday and left fresh flowers in our room. Such a lovely and thoughtful touch! 🌸
🍹 Bar & Restaurant Staff
We usually stay for around 12 nights, so it was lovely that the staff started recognising us and, especially, our daughter. They made her feel so special.
The morning staff even remembered our usual drinks — how amazing is that?
They also came around the pool offering drinks, which made everything feel so relaxing and luxurious. The service was genuinely fantastic.
🧸 Kids’ Club
The kids’ club staff were amazing. They clearly genuinely love children, and on the very first day they already remembered my daughter’s name.
This was the first holiday where my daughter actually asked every evening, “Can I go to the kids’ club tomorrow?” 😂
She enjoyed it so much, and that gave us some lovely time to relax too. Thank you to the whole team! ❤️
🍽️ Food
I am a very fussy eater, so food is usually not something I judge a hotel by — mainly because I don’t eat a lot of different things.
But everything we tried was fresh, clean and tasty, and my husband was absolutely in heaven! 😂
💆♀️ Spa
The massages were SO good. I would definitely recommend them to everyone.
🏋️♀️ Gym
If I had to suggest one improvement, it would be upgrading the gym a little — perhaps adding some kettlebells and more weights.
🎤 Entertainment
We really enjoyed the entertainment programme. Even karaoke night! 😂
And let me tell you, I personally think karaoke is absolutely horrible… but somehow, I actually enjoyed it! The programme was great, and the singers were fantastic.
❤️ Final thoughts
Overall, we had such a wonderful experience. There was genuinely nothing that left me disappointed during our 12-day stay.
We are already planning to come back next year.
I even said to my husband, “Why do I have to go somewhere else if I already know this place works and is this good?” 😂
