Madeira's first all-inclusive hotel, the 5-star Enotel Lido Resort & Spa enjoys a privileged location on the south of the island near Funchal. The hotel overlooks the ocean and enjoys easy access to the seafront promenade while Funchal town centre is 30 minutes walk away. Excellent guest facilities include a wonderful spa. If you fancy a game of golf the hotel offers a discount at nearby courses.
Had a 1 weeks break in Madeira at the start of October. Beautiful country with stunning views. The hotel on the whole was really good would I say it was 5 star maybe not but definitely a good 4 star. Pros Good location Branded drinks Spacious room Pedro from the bar by the pool was amazing so friendly, nothing was ever too much for him a real asset to your hotel Good selection of veg food in the evenings Water stations so you could refill your water bottles which are supplied in your room Multiple lounge areas with bars which was nice to relax in Slimline tonic available - now that is very rare!
Cons It took 4 calls to reception to fix leak in the room Pipework noise - everytime someone opened a tap or flushed the toilet the pipework made an awful noise this was any time of the day Food not well labelled - as a vegetarian this is really frustrating...
Some of the salads looked like thy were vegetarian but actually had chicken in it Al a carte restaurant had no veg options so not able to use any of them Evening entertainment poor - this is kind of standard I suppose but expect better from a 5* hotel. There was a DJ who played music after the entertainment & even though we gave him requests he did not play them even though there were not many people in the room! I understand he has to cater for all needs but the fact there were not many people in the room it really made
This was my first holiday abroad since Covid so was a bit apprehensive about going away. As soon as I walked into the hotel and saw the view from the reception I knew I had chosen a good hotel. It was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated...
The hotel staff were really nice. All the staff took great care in practising covid measures by ensuring everyone wore masks in the communal areas like lifts, buffet area of restaurant etc.. There were hand sanitizers placed everywhere. Cutlery was given to all on the restaurants in brown paper bags. Social distancing measures were also taken care of in the restaurants by ensuring the tables were very well spaced out. The waiters and all staff wore masks all the time. They had a good selection of drinks and it was lovely to sit in the piano bar pre or post dinner taking in the view of the ocean. We fancied a change from eating in the all inclusive restaurant so there is one a la carte open which had a different daily menu. The local dish of black scabbard fish with passion fruit and banana is a must. The location of the hotel is also great being near a range of bars and good restaurants if you fancied a change from the hotel. If you don’t mind the walk, Funchal town centre is around 30-40 mins with one steep hill en route. Loved the hotel and Madeira is a wonderful place to visit
We have just returned from a 7 day stay at the hotel, the room was on the 8th floor, lovely set out, full sea view with a balcony. We had to request a kettle for the room, which was duly provided, but the housekeeping kept forgetting to leave coffees, and you request a full carton of milk from the bar.
The Hotel acknowledged my birthday whilst I was there with a bird of paradise flower in my room, which was a lovely gesture
Breakfast was nice buffet style as were the other meals, we always found something to eat. We were not impressed by the Madeiran ala carte though, potatoes not cooked and sadly the scabbard fish was tasteless, did not try the Italian one though.
The main gripe was that if you wanted a coffee early morning the machine sometimes was not full or working correctly, with nothing to put anything in ie cups.
The hotel is clean and dependant on who was working you were reminded to use a mask around the service areas, although some staff overlooked this...
The taxis around the area are fickle in fares we travelled same distance several times and prices for same distance ranged from 5.60 to 10 euros and the latter one didnt have his meter on ( but was a yellow licensed one )
Wasn't sure what to expect as we had not been all inclusive in Madeira before. This place was excellent, modern rooms with a sea view, all staff great and very helpful, great lounging areas and bars, food good plentiful and non stop, pool area great with plenty of seating, I honestly cannot fault this place or its location, will definitley stay here again. Ask for a high floor overlooking the pool.
What a wonderful hotel ! We arrived home last night having spent a week at the Enotel lido and enjoyed every minute. The staff are a credit to the hotel as every single one of them were very friendly and helpful. One young man in the dining room was always singing to himself while waiting on tables he was certainly happy at his work ! The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean we were in room 1017 which was the top floor and had a lovely view over the pool and the sea...
We had the sun on our balcony all afternoon. The room was a good size with a decent bathroom which had a bath and separate rainfall shower. Also it had bathrobes and toiletries (no conditioner though) and lovely soft towels. It was our anniversary while we were there and we were given a bird of paradise flower in a vase and a card wishing us happy anniversary which I thought was a nice touch. They have 2 specialty restaurants here the Italian one was open Wednesday to Saturday night and is the same place you get your lunch and snacks near the pool during the day we went here on the Thursday night for our anniversary and had a lovely set meal We decided to try the Madeiran restaurant on the Sunday which was our last night (which is next door to Italian)and open Sunday to Tuesday but unfortunately the set meal was scabbard fish (I tried some last time in Madeira and took a bad reaction to it as apparently it has a high lead content and obviously I was allergic to it) so we went to Atlantico restaurant where breakfast and dinner is served every day and there was always plenty of choice for everyone vegetarian included they had smoked salmon with the salads each night and one day I had some enormous prawns they had lovely breads and rolls too and carved meats and plenty of other dishes and lovely deserts too you were spoiled for choice ! I got a phone call from the hotel when I was on the way to the airport to tell me I had left my jewellery case in the room it must have worked it’s way to the back of the drawer and I had missed it when packing. The lady is arranging for it to be posted back to me and I will bank transfer postage money. Very efficient and kind of her thank you. I would certainly recommend this hotel as we were so happy to get a holiday back in Madeira after not being abroad for 2 years due to Covid and it did not disappoint in any way. They are very Covid aware too with hand wash everywhere and masks being warn about the hotel also only 2 people in the lifts at anytime. We were given a voucher for a free massage each in the spa which we took the day after we arrived and we enjoyed it so much as our backs were sore after travelling. So thank you all at Enotel lido for a lovely relaxing week and we would certainly come back if we get to Madeira again Obrigada !
