If I could give this hotel a minus score I WOULD. Unfortunately this hotel was given to us at short notice. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and polite...
This hotel fell down on two main points, the rooms are very dated and they need a total refurbishment to bring them up to the modern standards required of a Four Star Hotel, they were clean however. The biggest problem of this hotel was the food, it was appalling!! (only fit for pigs sometimes). The main reason was that the Buffet Servery was NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE, Any food placed in it did not keep hot and majority of the time the food was COLD. The standard of the food was POOR, with the exception that after complaining daily we had Chefs Menu which was good and hot (strait from the kitchen). The buffet choices were VERY limited (one night we only had a choice of one veg, which was boiled to death!!) There was a small choice of desserts (all cold) and a bit bland. There was NO cheese and Biscuits and NO tea/coffee to finish off the meal. Breakfast was a nightmare since it came from the Buffet Servery so it was cold (I had to ask them to microwave it every morning we stayed there!!) We complained every day with reference to the food being cold as a result of the Servery being not fit for purpose. The Head waiter/waiters/Head Chef all agreed with me that there was a MAJOR problem with the Servery BUT DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. The management of the hotel, despite being asked several times to come in and sort the restaurant and servery problems did not appear throughout our stay. The problem persisted throughout our holiday and we actually shopped at the local supermarket for food because the food being served wasn't fit for human consumption. If health and safety executive had come in to monitor temperatures of food etc they would have closed the restaurant down. The whole episode, the state of the hotel rooms and food spoilt our holiday in a big way. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE UNTIL THEY RECTIFY THE MAJOR SHORT COMINGS IT HAS AT THE MOMENT. IT IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL IT BARELY MAKES 3 STARS IN OUR EYES. LEAVE WELL ALONE!!!!
