Hello I HAVE been going the same hotel for a number of years on bed+ brea bassis ,I do this I go for three weeks sometimes four the meals are repetitive but most of the Staff are friendly ,and there is shuttle bus into Funchel which is a very busy city with plenty to see
Hotel is situated at the far end of Funchal but unusually just a few steps or short slope to hotel.
Breakfast and dinner buffet style adequate ,not Great. Spotlessly clean but it is dated (dark furniture etc.) Large room with bath and balcony in main hotel ,not appartment style . Excellent staff Nice pool area
Buses run every 15 mins to Funchal from stop opposite hotel. Much more convenient than hotels which have long climbs to them . Short journey about 15 mins to centre...
Weekly ticket for local bus e21 approx from Funchal bus station Beautiful fishing village is about a 30 min walk or 10 min bus ride . Shopping centre stores and food court ,bars restaurants 1 min walk
Would definitely use this hotel again
Chose this hotel as we are familiar with the area and easy access to local facilities. Rooms are sizeable but furniture and kitchenette needs to be updated.(Electric ring took 20 mins to boil the small kettle!) Layout of the hotel leads to difficulty for guests with mobility problems (no lift from floor 3 Reception to floor 4 Restaurant, just a long staircase,) Lovely pools and efficient attendants. Coffee shop is well served by Mara . Staff are all very efficent and friendly apart from one notable exception on Reception.
The hotel was nice and clean, room was beautiful with a very nice view the bed was comfortable, the room was bigger than we were expected. Staff was really lovely and helpful :) the hotel have 2 swimming pools indoor and outdoor.... breakfast was really lovely and yummy......
they also have a sauna and gym which you can use, they have cocktail bar and live music.... Loads of facilities around the hotel such as Restaurant, shopping Center,ATM machine,Taxi and bus station. We had an amazing time there... We will definitely come back again :) highly recommend the hotel.
We booked a little apartment at the Musa D'Ajuda hotel complex as we've stayed there before and it was sufficient. However, nothing has been done to refresh or even maintain the facilities since and this time it was really showing. First thing, one of the doors to the balcony had a large crack across it (which we reported immediately to the reception only to be told that 'they will look at it') and the other would not lock (reported this to the reception to get a 'we'll send someone to have a look at it' back)...
We couldn't leave anything outside our locked suitcase as the room was not fully safely lockable. There wasn't a kettle or a coffee machine so the only way to make a cup of tea was to boil water on the little hob in a large saucepan. there was no teapot or even mugs, just tiny cups. Worst thing was the fridge though. The little freezer would not close which caused all our supplies we bought for the whole week to be frozen solid over the first night. A large proportion of the food became ruined as a result. When we reported this to the reception, we got the standard 'we'll send someone to look at it' back. At that point, there had not been anyone to look at the door that would not lock so we requested a replacement room. After a bit of persistence, we got given a slightly smaller room (despite the hotel being empty) so we moved our luggage into there. This room had a coffee maker so that was a benefit. I would strongly suggest taking your teenage children on holiday to this hotel - the rooms still have an analog TV set and the reception insist on giving you the remote for it (which didn't work in our room, which was just as fine as there's no international channels on the TV anyway). We thought it was rather droll. Generally speaking, we would not come back to this hotel - despite its excellent location and local atmosphere - until it's been fully refurbished and brought up to at least acceptable standards without putting the guests and their belongings in jeopardy.
