Wonderful hotel We spent a week here and had a happy time. The rooms were super, the view fabulous, the pool one of the cleanest and loveliest we have experienced and all the staff were amazing delivering an outstanding service ! Both my daughter and I had a pedicure and wish we had used the spa sooner - what a find! Meals were delicious and oh my the bread and ice cream. Thank you :)
This whole hotel is on a cliff, facing the Atlantic Ocean, your balcony opens to a nice open view consisting of:
The room was quite nice, personnel always polite and very helpful to give you indications on what to see. But the most interesting thing is the sleeping part, as it was quite hot we kept the balcony doors wide open, and then you notice the sound of waves. Very soothing, a nice way to ship to the land of dreams.
Warnings:
The pool is next to the beach promenade 2) The parking places are in quite steep area, and not sufficient enough. Parking on the street is free but also can get full in the late afternoon. 3) You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel, but if you want to look around there are not so many other options close by. 4 beach restos on the promenade and they can be quite full at dinner.
Both my husband and I both loved this hotel, the breakfast was superb, couldn’t fault the room, bed was comfortable, maybe another pillow would have been nice. The views from our balcony were brilliant. As mentioned in previous reviews,it is steep getting to the pool, you have to make sure you have brought everything you need,as popping back to the room was a no- no.The only negative that I personally had was that there was no local supermarket nearby.Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay
We stayed for 1 night as attending a wedding.
Positives:-
Negatives:-
Breakfast - I did not get up early enough, so can not comment.
Overall, Nice hotel to stay. Is very clean and simple. Great location for Maderia, Its by Funchal and right by the Lido. Selection of Taberna near by. Recommend! Just check-in at night, bring an iron and a full length mirror with you if these things you require like me!
To start with I could give this hotel a five just for the views from the rooms alone, but there is much more to the Orca Pria. The rooms are clean and well equipped and as mentioned the view from the balcony are incredible. I miss the sight and sound of the sea now I'm back home. The rooms were cleaned every day and always after we had left the room...
The reception staff are friendly and helpful and available 24hrs. The food in the main restaurant has plenty of choices for starters mains and desert. Two meat and two fish courses with options of rice, pasta, potatoes, fries and salad. Cheese and crackers soup, bread and more are available. There is also plenty to choose from for breakfast. The staff in the restaurant are efficient, friendly and helpful too, I could not find any fault in them The pool bar also has good food and drink and the pool itself is brilliant with great views of the sea and surrounding area. There is quite a steep walk to the pool level from the lower floor of the hotel, but this is set in beautiful landscaped gardens The footpath in front of the hotel leads to a lovely fishing village that takes about a twenty minute walk that is well worth the effort. The hotel runs a free shuttle into Funchal a few times a day throughout the week, there is a bus stop just outside the hotel that also goes to Funchal every half hour for just €1.95. All in all this is a fantastic hotel that we would be happy to return to in the future. Thank you to all staff at the Orca Pria for a perfect holiday.
