Yearly November Paradise break😎
22 yrs, every November 2 weeks @ the Casino Park Hotel, (Pestana) . Every time better and more reasonably priced. 5th floor, sea, mountain , city view . Almost do not want to leave the suite ! Sra. Helena in the reception makes life so easy, beautiful person and a credit to the “empressa” Be back to this wonderful “home from home / Madeira paradise next Novenber. Aman & Carmen 🤓
Pestana Casino Park: beautiful gardens and pool, good value for money
Pestana Casino park has multiple pools (also roof top) set in a beautiful garden overlooking from a cliff onto the cruise ship terminals. Breakfast buffet is very nice, with plenty of fresh fruit and egg station options and good coffee. Options to eat outside to watch the rising sun. Rooms are a tad bit dated and tired but beds are still good and rooms and bathrooms are clean. Elevators are annoyingly slow and small (not designed for such big hotel and not to capacity). Overall very happy with our stay.
Very good hotel
Very good hotel, probably not a 5 star hotel compared to others locally, more a 4 star. Room was nice, lovely view from my room. Wi Fi very good. Slept well every night with the exception of Saturday when some revellers from the casino where making some noise, though not necessarily the hotels fault. Food excellent considering it was cooked for a large amount of people. With plenty of choice. My only real complaint was that one of the three lifts (elevators) wasn't working all week which caused a lot of congestion at busy times and delays waiting for it to arrive.
Wouldn't go back
We had an 'emergency' stay here as our flight home was cancelled. We had stayed at this hotel over 20 years ago and, unfortunately, it's gone down a bit since then. The beds were super uncomfortable, and although the room was clean, it was very tired as was the bathroom. And who on earth still has shower curtains! So unhygienic :-( We had the buffet dinner and, frankly, it was inedible. I hate food waste and never leave food on my plate, but all was left by me, the cheese and crackers were ok though.
Nearly a 4 star pleasant good hotel
There are 5* &5* but this hovers between a 3 &4* nearer4*. As with most hotels the lobby is nice clean. Reception staff were 9/10 helpful just one curly haired lady on the end separate desk was very aloof & passed me to a terrified colleague (who was very helpful did their best ) but his boss needs etiquette lesson in communicating with guests to say she will ask colleague to help instead pointing at drawers etc etc & not speaking. All I wanted to know was where to buy bus ticket? Rooms one bottle water in an empty minibar for whole week? Seriously ? We just bought petrol station over road. Housekeeping do a great job. The rooms as stated tired. Swimming pool outside umbrellas are awful many broken you will be hunting for good one. Sun loungers need a cushion rock hard saggy metal frame( the ones in the inside pool are perfect ). Outside pool is ice bucket as mentioned other reviews. There is a happy hour but it’s kept quiet the bar staff are not very happy. If I was to manage this hotel new cheerful quality beach brollies /some thin durable lounger cushions for comfort. One free daily bottle water to replace in fridge and a stocked minibar managed by room staff. ( guests on check in could be asked and sign if they require a minibar ££ more profit hotel )? Pool towels I don’t get the time slot for swapping towels out? Like frugal penny pinching profit is king here. Lifts are inadequate tiny tiny for such huge hotel. I will end on a good note breakfast was great & we did like the cruise ships the hotel location is good but it is at top of a big hill. Great to walk to cable car and great to get into the main city centre. Thank you. It is what we expected not a real 5 * I did read all the reviews and was not disappointed
