When you choose a luxury hotel, make sure it excels in every way. The Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort, formerly the LTI – Pestana Grand Hotel in Funchal, is a truly spectacular venue. This beautifully designed five star hotel features awe inspiring views out over the ocean, and gives holidaymakers plenty of wonderful vantage points to appreciate the azure blue sea.
As well as its own amenities and attractions, the Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort is your stepping off point into Funchal, Madeira's capital city. Visitors flock to Funchal for its excellent and diverse shopping, its historical sites (including the Santa Clara Convent and Sé Cathedral) and the insight they afford into old Madeira. Gourmands will enjoy a trip to the old town in the west, with its many excellent restaurants.
The sea dominates views from the Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort, but the hotel is a landmark in its own right. Set in rich, tropical gardens, it has the look and feel of a luxury hotel – and once you're here, you'll have no choice but to give in to the relaxing holiday lifestyle.
The Madeira Botanical Gardens are also close by – making this little bit of Madeira a good representation of the rest – lush, green and verdant, bordered by blue seas.
Views from each of the hotel's 177 rooms are suitably amazing. Just getting up in the morning and gazing out over the sea is a great way to start the day. All rooms maintain the five star feeling, with excellent furnishings and subtle colours emphasising the space.
With so much to do in Funchal, as well as right here at the hotel, you may have to mix and match your activities. But this really is one of those occasions when time at your hotel really is time very well spent. Both the large outdoor saltwater pool and the Jetstream indoor pool really have to be experienced. There is a well-equipped games room and gym – and for the ultimate indulgence, a relaxing massage is available.
And talk of a day well spent inevitably leads us to the four hotel restaurants – try to sample a little something from each before you go!
There isn't really anything on a par with the Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort. It's superior outlook, accommodation and amenities make it the ultimate destination in the heart of Madeira.
Although this hotel enjoys a most spectacular and scenic location on the top of the Ponta da Cruz headland overlooking the ocean, it is within walking distance of the sophisticated attractions of Funchal. Set in a beautiful tropical garden which features a large saltwater swimming pool, there is access to a promenade to allow guests to walk beside the sea.
This is a very beautiful hotel. We had a room with facing to the sea in the 4 floor. The breakfast is very good, there is nothing missing...
The rooms a very clean and the staff is very friendly. When you have a rental car it is standing very good in the underground garage. The hotel is a little bit expensive, but it ist worth it. We have no complains at all for this hotel. We will be back for sure.
The only thing we would not recommend here, is when they still have it, the offer for the one night in the Pestana Quinta Do Arco. For that Hotel please see my separate Review on TripAdvisor.
But here in the Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort everything is just superb !!!!!!
We recently stayed at the Pestana Grand, Madeira during the beginning of the Covid-19 spread across the globe. We stayed 12 days, the first week in a studio apartment through RCI timeshare and the remaining days in a standard hotel room. We planned a few extra days outside of the timeshare to enjoy more time on the island but the virus kept us in the hotel instead...
We were fortunate to have a comfortable, sea front room during the shut down time. The studio was spacious and well equipped with a kitchen. It was helpful to have the facilities to cook meals as the pandemic news came to Madeira. There is a grocery store very near to the hotel which was perfect for us. When we moved to a standard hotel room down the hall, the staff was very helpful and accommodating with the transition. The hotel room did not have a kitchen but it was equally roomy and comfortable as we were now required to stay in the hotel as Madeira began to shut down with the virus threat. The staff were excellent in handling the crisis and did their best to assist all guests in any way they could. Pestana Grand is well situated in Funchal. We were happy to have direct access to the ocean promenade, close proximity to the Forum Shops with a grocery store as well as the Lido area, and complimentary shuttle bus to downtown Funchal. We would stay here again.
We stayed at this lovely hotel at the beginning of March. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff so friendly. It's located outside the main town of Funchal but the free shuttle and no 1 and 2 bus serve it well...
We had a sea view room on the 4th floor which was large comfortable and had a nice balcony. Tea and coffee making were a treat for most European hotels we even had bathrobes. The Wi-Fi was free and excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The two pools were great and we used the gym daily. The indoor pool is heated so just right in March. We were half board. Food was plentiful but similar most days. Drinks are paid for at evening meal even coffee.Gardens are immaculate Would definitely visit this wonderful hotel next year
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at this hotel. All staff were friendly and extremely helpful. This is in a lovely quiet area of Funchal within easy walking distance of facilities and numerous restaurants and bars...
The hotel runs free shuttle buses into Funchal and back which is an excellent and well organised service. The hygiene standards were excellent. If you do t like high rise hotels then this one is ideal for you as it is only eight floors. Unfortunately our stay was shortened due to the worsening Corona virus situation in the UK but we will definitely return when we are able.
this is a very good hotel .the staff are all very polite and helpful during a very tough time when we arrived we were told the indoor pool and spa were closed which was not the hotels fault but as we chose this hotel for the facilitys put on bit of a downer for our stay we stayed b&b the breakfasts were ok the food was always just warm we did not have dinner at the hotel as there are plenty of resturants near bye .the location of the hotel is great if like us you like to walk from the hotel you can walk into funchal takes about one hour .nice gardens out door pool will be great to use when the weather is warmer over all a very enjoyable break . we will return to this hotel in the future when things calm down
