With its idyllic location and spectacular views out over the Promenade, the Pestana Promenade Hotel is one of the first-choice destinations for so many holidaymakers to Madeira. And it's not just the views that impress. With so much to discover – both at the hotel and in Madeira itself, it's a great choice for holidaymakers of all kinds. There's plenty to see and do, there are plenty of exciting opportunities for trips out, and for relaxing back at the hotel. In short, this is a location – and a hotel – with so much more to offer.
All the guide books will tell you about the promenade. It stretches all the way to the beach at Praia Formosa, and is the very best way to take in the sights, stopping for a drink or a meal along the way.
And because it's set on the promenade, the Pestana Promenade Hotel offers outstanding views of the ocean too. You can look out for miles, from the promenade and the hotel. No wonder this is such a popular place to stay.
But it's not just about the location. The Pestana Promenade Hotel offers a wealth of facilities and amenities, making it one of the region's very best-equipped hotels with games room, gym, and spa with Jacuzzi . One of the main attractions is undoubtedly the pool – one of biggest in Madeira. You can while away many hours dipping in and out of the pool, enjoying a drink and a snack, and making the most of the sun and the laid-back holiday lifestyle.
Rooms at the Pestana Promenade Hotel are similarly enticing. All of the ensuite side sea view rooms benefit from a private balcony or terrace, so that you can make the most of those holiday views. All rooms are air conditioned, and come with cable TV, phone, safe deposit box, hairdryer, and mini fridge. Full sea view and superior sea view rooms and suites are available at a supplement.
You'll also enjoy a wide range of dining options. Of course there are lots of bars, restaurants and lovely little tavernas to discover out and about in Funchal, as well as a fine selection of bars and restaurants at the Pestana Promenade Hotel. Great food, wonderful views and a lovely laid-back atmosphere make dining 'en hotel' quite a special experience.
The Pestana Promenade Hotel is one of Madeira's most enduringly popular hotels. Its pool, its views and its friendly ambience will certainly ensure that it's always going to draw the crowds – and the plaudits.
Situated in front of the spectacular promenade that stretches from Lido to Praia Formosa, the Pestana Promenade offers stunning views to the ocean. The hotel's enviable location is complemented by a great range of facilities including one of the largest pool areas on Madeira.
Visited 5 years ago and it was a great hotel; Stayed at the Grand 6 months ago and that was great / superb. Very disappointed with the Promenade this time, the room at best was worth 300 euro's, we paid 800. Staff are great but the tired old room, tiny balcony and random room servicing let it down to the point where we wouldn't return, its a shame.
During our stay here we have alternated between independent restaurants in the area and the hotel evening buffet which has been good in the past. Tonight although the salad bar had good variety and flavours, the selection of main courses was very poor including choices of a so-called chicken curry which was very salty. some rather tough roast beef and turkey stroganoff which had appeared two nights ago...
These were accompanied by a weak selection of tasteless vegetables and to add insult to injury the plates provided for the meal were cold. The predicable dessert selection did not make up for our disappointment and at a full price of 26 euros it's beyond expensive for what is on offer. Even the discounted price we paid was excessive. This is supposed to be a four star hotel and over the years we have been coming the food quality has deteriorated and on the basis of what was served tonight I shall be giving the restaurant a miss on any future visits.
Stayed at this hotel for the first time, rooms where very clean, hotel staff where friendly, breakfast was buffet style, but freshly cooked omelettes where also on offer, pool area was good with four outdoor pools and one indoor, it was about 2.5 k into Funchal which was not a problem as we like walking, taxis where always available.
We spent 2 months in the Pestana Promenade in January and February and had excellent service from caring and good staff.Breakfast was plentiful but could be busy during the school half term break.Cleaning was thorough and we will return
We booked this hotel thinking we were booking a nearby hotel that had received a name change since we had stayed previously and really enjoyed our time there. The Pestana Promenade (a different animal altogether) needs a refurb and we were disappointed with the Pestana experience. On a positive note, the dining room staff are brilliant both in efficiency and as ambassadors for the hotel, and that is the only good thing I can say about this hotel...
The chambermaids are friendly but the service they provide is poor. Toiletries were not always replenished, we bought some at the supermarket in the end. No iron or ironing board provided and it was as though we were asking for gold when we requested one, we were also asked to return these “immediately” we had used them. The breakfasts were acceptable, but nothing special. It felt as though once a variety of jam had run out then it was marmalade only until the delivery arrived the following week. There is no luggage room provided for people leaving later in the day, our luggage was placed near the front door all day and the reception staff were dismissive of our concerns about lack of security. We asked if we could stay in the room until late but unfortunately for us it was going to be occupied. No alternative room was offered which after a 3 week stay seems to be poor customer service. I think the reception staff were poor at their job, management need to look at how they operate. We will avoid Pestana in future, it is a second rate hotel chain
