The low-rise aparthotel fits in wonderfully with its surroundings. Each of the spacious studio flats are kitted out in a traditional style décor. Again, the emphasis is on a homely, traditional style that's cosy and welcoming.
One of the other benefits of staying at the Pestana Village Aparthotel is that you benefit from the shared facilities of sister hotel, the Pestana Miramar. That means even more restaurants to choose from, even more fitness and leisure facilities and more ways to relax.
Each flat comes with its own well-equipped kitchenette. And guests' rooms feature cable TV, telephone, security safe, hair dryer, private bath, and most wonderfully of all, your very own private balcony and terrace. Some face the pool, others look out towards Funchal; both views are wonderful. From your comfortable lounge chair you can sit back relax and toast your great choice of holiday hotel.

We had 10 amazing days at this lovely resort located within walking distance (20 minutes) to Funchal center as well as the other hotels linked with it for dinner reservations. The staff was super friendly helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of choices, fresh fruits, eggs , cheeses and meats… too much to mention...
We opted to eat our dinners at the 5 optional restaurants rather than the nightly buffet. These restaurants included Moroccan , Italian, Mediterranean and Madeiran cuisine and our meals were outstanding. Parking was available on site for a fee. The rooms were super clean and very very comfortable. There was nightly entertainment although the quality was just average. There are outstanding musical venues within walking distance. All in all we had an amazing stay and would definitely return again.
Good points:
Excellent location for 25min walk into Funchal centre
Good facilities: 2 pools, gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, massages available, bars and restaurants. Staff relatively efficient, although not as well trained as some hotels I've visited. Nice gardens and everything worked.
Less good points: Pestana Village accomodation has no air conditioning, just inadequte ceiling fans...
We were lucky enough to negotiate for a cool air blower for the bedroom, but I shudder to think how hot it must get at night in July/August. There is no warning about lack of AC when booking
The swimming pools are cool/cold and as a result few adults go into them. Despite the thousands of hours of sunshine why is it so difficult to rig up a few solar panels to partially heat them?
Prices for food and drink are 30-40% more than neighbouring cafes/restaurants, so we ate in the PV for one lunch in a week - why not offer guests a 10-15% off card for eating in the complex?
Its a hilly site, especially from road to reception and might not suit those with mobility issues. I hope PV make elderly guests aware of this
Overall its average to good, but could be improved
Our experience in the resourt was excellent. All surroundibg, wonderful garden, pools, perfect service all over, very helpful, polite, smiling team. Very good location...
A place were would like to come next time.
Fantastic Location (opposite Reid’s). Stunning Gardens (way better than the ones you pay to see), superb external appearance and the best staff possible. It is linked to the Pestana Miramar and it is also a Pestana Time Share complex...
Where is falls down badly is inside as it simply hasn’t kept up with changing requirements and a younger set of visitors. Despite listing a lot of bars and restaurants, most of these are closed, very small or only open for a few nights a week. In the evening, there is only one bar and which is attached to something called the Winter Garden. It rained most evenings when we were there, and it’s a boring place to spend an evening. I’m retired and I reckon that in another 20 years , I will still find it boring. You can see areas that have had investment but the bedrooms and bathrooms need gutting. There is no Air Conditioning (something I simply assumed all 4 star hotels have nowadays.). The bathrooms were minute but just outside them is a small kitchenette (two rings (but only one pan) and a sink). Bigger more modern bathroom please.
We stayed her for 9 nights and have no complaints Location is good with bus stops very near to hotel including one for airport bus Breakfast is good and adequate .All the staff are friendly in all parts of the hotel. The night time entertainment is ok understandably they have to cater for various age groups and nationalities Rooms are clean and comfortable and the pool is excellent and it doesnt seem to get very busy So overall i would recommend staying at Pestana Village
