Relaxation is top of the agenda when you stay at the Pestana Village Aparthotel. Take a stroll around when you arrive and you'll see what we mean. Inside its cosy and comfortable, while outside, the superb tropical gardens help reinforce that feeling of this being a haven of relaxation and quiet contentment.
With its wrought iron work and ceramic tiles, the Pestana Village Aparthotel has that wonderfully traditional feel. And staying here, amid all this lush vegetation, you really do feel like you're at one with the natural beauty of your surroundings.
With 5000m2 of tropical gardens to explore, you'll be able to spend many happy hours luxuriating in the dappled shade. Then, how about a dip in the pool? The outdoor pool at the Pestana Village Aparthotel really is a beauty. And you can follow up a dip with a drink at the poolside bar.
The low-rise aparthotel fits in wonderfully with its surroundings. Each of the spacious studio flats are kitted out in a traditional style décor. Again, the emphasis is on a homely, traditional style that's cosy and welcoming.
One of the other benefits of staying at the Pestana Village Aparthotel is that you benefit from the shared facilities of sister hotel, the Pestana Miramar. That means even more restaurants to choose from, even more fitness and leisure facilities and more ways to relax.
Each flat comes with its own well-equipped kitchenette. And guests' rooms feature cable TV, telephone, security safe, hair dryer, private bath, and most wonderfully of all, your very own private balcony and terrace. Some face the pool, others look out towards Funchal; both views are wonderful. From your comfortable lounge chair you can sit back relax and toast your great choice of holiday hotel.

We knew at time of booking the Village we might be transferred, We still would have preferred the Village though, which we already know. Regarding the Palms, my husband and I have mixed views (hence 4star). From other reviews we knew decor was a bit dated, but it was fine. And spotlessly clean...
As RCI guests we were in the aparthotel, which we weren't made aware of when informed of our transfer. Consequently we looked up the hotel on Pestana's own website, which has no separate mention of the aparthotel, and were looking forward to aircon and WiFi in the rooms. Pretty disappointing and inconvenient to find that this is definitely NOT in the aparthotel!! The ceiling fan helped but wasn't ideal. The beds were fairly comfy although hubby found them too hard. Great pillows though! Kitchenette facilities were small but adequate; the fridge worked but not terribly efficiently, and the microwave was a combination microwave/oven/grill, but without instruction booklet and the knobs had been cleaned so much you could't see what was what! So use was limited to basic microwave. Our room was on the first floor near the entrance (and stairs and lifts). Luckily other guests were considerate and there wasn't much 'people' noise - The main issue noise-wise was the seemingly constant trundling of suitcase wheels of arrivals and departures on the paving outside! Day and night... The pool area was quite nice - spacious even when busy. In our first week at end of August there were lots of families - so 'real' swimming was only really possible before about 10.00am. 2nd week was calmer but I stuck to early morning swims. Nice pool. I asked at the pool bar where the gym was to be told there wasn't one. I assumed Covid had shut this - but then saw it on my last day on the 3rd floor of the hotel when the lift to the pool opened on that floor!! The location of the hotel is theoretically excellent, (near the main road for buses, shops, restaurants - some to be avoided like the plague - and next to the panoramic gardens). Bar the hill leading up to the main road. I'm reasonably fit so was ok , but my husband really struggled with this, even with a hiking cane. He was not alone from what we saw. There was a distinct lack of 'local' info in the hotel - and staff didn't have all the answers. Hotel bar/restaurant good but pricey. conclusion, all was good but could be better?
My husband and I stayed 1 month at in junior suite no.305. We found the location perfect with a lovely garden, pools and friendly staff. But the apartment was not updated and was lacking most everything for an extended stay...
The "kitchen" had little more than a hotel "kitchen"- no microwave, toaster or utensils. Tiny refrig/ freezer that held an ice tray. No extra outlets for charging phones, etc. Rundown sad hotel room that desperately needs renovation.
Just perfect! Come back for sure. It was one of the best my trip anywhen.
Fantastic island, fantastic hotels Pestana.
Great food, comfort, carnival.
We were the group of 21 pax and everybody had the best memories about Madeira and Pestana.
For us now Madeira means Pestana and vice versa :)
Great hotel good facilities, rooms kept clean on daily bases, food in buffet restaurant good great choice for everyone, staff friendly, polite ,helpful and obliging, the only minor complaint I have is time to update bathrooms with walk in showers as I notice there is quite a lot of elderly people visiting the hotel and for customers with mobility issues
Not 4 star at all, hotel tired, rooms small and scruffy, and food generally basic. To get decent food had to use a la carte restaurant in the sister hotel, which was very good. Available rooms for Jet2 customers were poor, changed first one offered, second was marginally better however view was very marginal over the roof of the reception and bar area which was noisy in the evening as all the entertainment took place there...
Found some loveable staff, but generally they could be more courteous and engaging.
