This attractive hotel lies in the old town of Funchal in a peaceful neighbourhood, surrounded by a pretty garden with tropical vegetation and a view over the bay of Funchal. The centre, with the many shops and entertainment venues, is to be found a few minutes' walk away, while links to the public transport network lie just in front of the hotel. Housed in a traditional Madeiran Manor House built in 1834, the hotel has been totally restored and offers luxurious guest rooms with a combination of tradition and contemporary elegance. Guests can savour exquisite regional food as well as international cuisine in a beautiful romantic setting, while the bar offers exotic cocktails and a stunning sea view. During the day, travellers may enjoy a tour around the historic centre and visit the local market, the Monte cable car station or the São Tiago Fort. After an exciting day of sightseeing, guests are invited to relax and enjoy sunny moments by the sparkling outdoor pool, while overlooking the beautiful ocean.

Stayed here for ten days end of October/beginning of November. The hotel is in a good location close to the old town with its restaurants and bars. Good sized room with a wonderful view of the Ocean. worth upgrading to a sea view room. All the staff were welcoming and approachable. stayed on a b&b basis, It was lovely taking breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. There was also a decent sized swimming pool in a picturesque setting. we will definitely return here
We had a lovely nine day stay, staff were polite, welcoming and helpful but did not pester. At breakfast there was enough choice, room was clean and garden and pool was well kept.We will visit again next year.
After arriving at Madeira Airport, the prebooked taxi drove us to an out of center hotel belonging to the same hotel chain. 40 minutes walk i.s.o. city center, and exploding taxi costs...
Despite confirmations received earlier from the hotel staff and booking done 3 months in advance, the hotel claimed to be fully booked when we arrived. The hotel "informed" us by booking.com message while flying to Madeira.
Nice small hotel in good location for good restaurants, bar and town. Good size pool area with enough sun beds and bedroom clean and decent size. Breakfast was however poor...
Little choice and quality and service not good. Customer service generally could be better. Little acknowledgment when checking in or out etc. Steep climb up to hotel which some may find challenging. However would still return to hotel as these are only minor points.
A nice charming hotel
Location is on a hill so avoid if mobility issues , the old town is a few mins stroll down a cobbled street with fab costal view and plenty of restaurants.
The harbour, cable car, main bus station, supermarket are all a short walk away.
Stayed as bed and breakfast, breakfast was ok nothing special but was certainly substantial and good choice
Service was at times outstanding, for my sons birthday the hotel provided him with a chocolate cake type pudding to his room for free with a nice message...
On one occasion a waitress spoke to us rudely but that was a one off and wont let it spoil how nice and helpful other staff were.
Pool is a quiet area, for the size of the hotel the pool is a nice size and we always managed to get a sunbed. It was nice not to have that morning rush for a sunbed although you always get some that ignore the no reserving of sun beds signs. Whilst there, there was a couple who played some music poolside in the afternoon the music was in good taste though and was not loud as previous comments suggested. Also witnessed the swearing and threatening behaviour of a guest at another over a sunbed. This was the only time I wittnessed poor behaviour at the hotel so please dont let previous comments put you off staying.
Overall a fab hotel with some lovely views and near to amenities. If choose to go back to Maderia would happily stay at the hotel again
